I loved how, in track 1, you used the jaw harp tremolo as the texture bed for the folk melody to play over. Super unique texture! Track 2 was nice with the swing groove as well. I think adding more variation would make it more interesting (triplets, whole notes, like a solo over it, etc.), instead of just keeping it swing-esque, but you illustrated a strong Renaissance vibe. Good job, KaleOverload!

Peace: LOVE this plucked tremolo sound! Extraordinarily cool sound, and something I would have LOVED to have access to for my soundtrack. What a gorgeous, ethereal sound, very folksy in that timeless, intriguing way. 

Radiance: musically, this is quite flawless, and exemplary. You’ve layered several things to create this cool dirge, and it sounds truly medieval. My only issues are with the mix: the background noise from the recording of the lyre is quite present, especially when the recording starts. Next time, trim the silence and fade it in, so  the background noise at least creeps in. You can also use an EQ to try and lower the noisy frequencies, or lower your mic sensitivity. Also, there are times where some instruments get quite out of sync with the track—careful with tempo!

In all, this is my one of my favorites Ive heard thus far just because I admire your use of the lyre and live recordings. If you can iron out the mixing issues, the sky’s the limit for you. I’d love to see this expanded out into a more comprehensive soundtrack! Great work, and keep writing!

Really good, definitely fits the theme really well, and obviously your real instrument sounds fantastic! Would have liked to hear about whatever media this would accompany but I appreciate you didn't have lots of time. Track 2, Radiance, is my favourite. There's a lot to like about it but something that stood out for me was the breathing sort of sound in the background, not sure exactly what it is but it adds a really great feeling to the production.

Awesome stuff, Kale! First of all, it was an honor to evaluate your work, especially as someone who has participated in your Impressions Composing Jams ;)

By far, the standout factor was the creativity. The fact that you built the Trossingen Lyre yourself is incredible! The sound is truly wonderful.

The first track really piqued my curiosity. It created an atmosphere that transported me to another world. I felt like I was returning to a place I’d never actually been! However, I found the title "Peace" a bit at odds with the sense of anticipation—and the subtly alarming undertone—that the track conveys.

For me, the highlight was the main track, "Radiance"! Listening to it made me genuinely happy. The instrumentation, the atmosphere, the interplay between the instruments, the leitmotif—it was all fantastic. I would certainly love to hear this as a 6th-century peasant. Truly, congratulations!

As a musician, I’d say the only areas for improvement would be storytelling development and making the tracks more dynamic; they do sound a bit monotonous at times. But as you mentioned, you were working with limited time. Regardless, thank you for your work!
