How does the game fit the theme?
The player controls a cursed king that everyone tries to poison. Therefore, you must pay attention to the plates and select the safe ones, because you cannot trust anyone.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Great application of the theme and fantastic art! :D
Thank you so much for playing!
Very fun game! Putting the player in the role of a "food tester" I think is quite brilliant as a concept for a theme such as "Trust no one" and you executed it quite well. The game's difficulty spikes up quite well even if you have all the upgrades, and the mechanics are quite engaging, really forcing you to pay close attention and be careful with the food choices you pick for the king. The only thing I'm unsure about is the end goal of the game, as the game kept going no matter how many kings have passed since the start. I'm not sure if there is an end, but either way it was still a blast playing!
Thank you very much for your kind words and feedback. And yes, it's an endless game, you stop whenever you want and basically try to get a high score. In a full, more developed version there would probably be a leaderboard system such that players can compete with each other, we just didn't have time to implement it for the jam. Thank you again for playing!
Nice game! Fits the theme elegantly, congrats!
One small thing I would change is the color of the buttons during gameplay, specially the "Eat!" one. It looked disabled for me. And since you have a minimum amount of food to eat, it could be enabled only after you selected what was needed at that level.
Great art too! Would love to see the king dead in the throne :D
Thank you very much for the kind words! And yeah those UI suggestions make a lot of sense, we didn't think about it in the week available for making the game. Thank you for the feedback
Game was very fun I got addicted without realising it. The art style is amazing accompanied by the audio that fits perfectly. I also kinda got hungry playing the game and want a burger now... Great job though and keep it up!
Here, I gotchu fam 🍔
Anyway, thank you very much for the kind words!
This was awesome, and I love the pixel art and gross eating noises! I'm impressed that you got so much progression in between rounds. I feel like the complexity and challenge could maybe ramp up a bit more quickly - I loved when plates started switching, and if you had a bit more of that happening, I think it would put that memory game kinda challenge more front and center. Awesome work!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, the progression and balance of the game could need work, but we're still glad you enjoyed it!
This man reportedly eats ceramic plates without any problem, but dies instantly when there's a single atom of poison in his dish
Ceramic is an acquired taste lol
As for the poison, well, there is an upgrade that lets you build resistance to it so that it doesn't become lethal instantly
the kings endless greed sickens me
And thus, the curse that has befallen him will become his downfall once and for all…
