Art was incredible! I initially wanted to point out the mixels, though I saw in another comment it was intentional, and I can respect that. Music was also really nicely done, and I see how the game fits the theme! Gameplay felt nice and smooth; I like the little detail of the reluctant message popping up every now and then! I didn't quite grasp the story though, I think some extra lore at the beginning would be nice! After messing around for 15 minutes or so looking for the secret ending I got it by accident XD

Very much enjoyed playing this one, keep it up :D

Thanks! There isn't any lore at the beginning because you are supposed to examine things around you, so you know. Like, who was the girl in the secret ending, or why is he exploding the neighborhood! Thanks for rating! We hope to make a second game, so I hope you can look forward to that!

I am so glad you liked it!!! :DDDD

The art is genuine fire and the ending having an animation? Peak. Though I kinda wish the cutscene art was used in the overworld gameplay. Really good take on the theme too, haven't seen anything similar yet, nice game overall.

Developer

Thanks! We get that request a lot, but the pixel art is supposed to contrast the hand-drawn world. Btw, have you gotten the secret ending?

Developer

Thank you so much! I am glad you like the art!

Such a nice art style, and good music too, it's nice to see how people use this engine so differently to reach amazing results. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I just started learning how to make music actually :D

You've got amazing potential then, I'd recommend experimenting with scales and continue creating melodies until it sounds even better!

Developer

Omg thank you so much! Will do!!!!

The art is really nice and the concept is cool. I've played a little over 50 jam entries now, and I haven't seen anything like it.  The character portraits were nice, but the background had a lot of mixels, so things don't look like that fit together. The ending was surprising but I wish there was a bit more dialogue to maybe set up the backstory and the characters more. Each character only really had one line of dialogue, and I think adding some more would really help elevate it! I got the ending where I press the detonator but couldn't figure out how to get the other ending. I tried walking away from the lake and got some dialogue from the player saying things like "This isn't right"  but couldn't figure it out beyond that.  Again, this is a pretty unique concept and it would be cool to see it fleshed out and made longer. Good job!

The mixels were intentional to try and convey the MCs distorted view of his surrounding. Its intentionally miss-matched but I understand where you're coming from! I appreciate your feedback and im glad you enjoyed it!

I am glad you enjoyed our game! We want to expand upon everything later, but i am glad you liked everything we have so far too!

Good game! I mean it's not how I deal with people in everyday life - but still :D it was fun! Loved the art style. Congratulations :)

Thank you 🙏

Thank you so much!! XD

I like the experience. At first the game lead me to believe that the main character was simple insecure and didn't want to deal with people... how wrong I was.

I haven't found the secret ending yet. I try a couple of things without much luck.

My only complain is the "mismatch" of the control scheme: sometimes you accept with "E", others with Enter, others with the a mouse click. I think the inputs could be unified.

Developer

That is a valid complaint, thank you for the feedback and im glad you liked it 🙏

Thank you so much, and thank you for that feedback, I honestly didn't notice it during playtesting so thats a good catch!

That's the first game that made me blow up a grandma:(

I enjoyed the eerie atmosphere, although I have mixed feelings about the changing font since it definitely adds to that atmosphere but also can be quite hard to read at times. Harsh collision with the house number signs was also a minor inconvenience.

I certainly wasn't expecting the ending! Visuals and writing are definitely the strong side of the game.

Overall it was quite fun to play even if a bit short!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the font effect has been super mixed. I'm the one who made it so im biased. But i can see how someone could dislike it. If you wanna save the grandma try looking for the second ending!

I think this is a cool concept and I believe I have seen it in some other games - maybe a different combination of fonts would do the trick?

I am so glad you liked the game!! :D
