Excellent storytelling. The music is excellent too.
I feel like the storyline reminded me a little bit of Breath of the Wild, at least, that's the kind of environment I pictured in my head.
I liked the story and the vibe it created.
Great work! :)

Description
TLDR: Weapons ruined the world in the past and people have to deal with them a millennia later.
I wrote some music for the world and a pretty barebones story as well since just the music wouldn't be enough, though late in the jam I realized that my submission does not really explore the jam theme well enough... At least I got something done, even if not fitting the theme too well π
Not really a writer so the story is pretty basic stuff and most of it is probably heavily copied from something else unconsciously π

Wow! I just watched/listened to your entry and I feel like finishing my popcorn and taking the last sip of my coke now, reflecting with a smile on my face as the end credits roll and the lights turn on while people start to sit up and leave the room. Awesome cinematic experience with the music superfitting for all the scenes! It has been more than a while since I listened to one of your submissions more than a year ago at another jam, and the wait has been worth it.
I find it difficult to critique really anything about the music, cause I found it supercohesive, with a solid mixing and instrumentation. The composition is also rock solid and it is really amazing how you managed to make the tracks so fitting to the story. Maybe the format you went with also helped, with the slow story flow rolling without having to pause or look away at the text at another place, but I think it mostly was because the music really suited the scenes.
Regarding the story itself, as you said it is not the strong point of this entry. I had my issues following some of its details, specially in the Adventure step, and the last part where we discover the consciences of Justo's parents are inside the machines feels a bit forced, but I also can see why many details which could make the plot more rich were omitted to allow for the flow of the music and the text to be easy to follow. I myself opted to almost fully sacrifice the story I had been thinking about because of time constraints, so I can totally relate here.
I find it hard to choose a favorite track, but maybe "The Sundering" would be it for me. It is always difficult to create tension at the beginning without being overwhelming, and the build-up until the 1 min mark is great, and then the last part with the woodwinds until "Remnants: Ghost Of The Past" appears on screen was very fitting and set the mood perfectly for what was to come.
Thanks for the awesome entry, I had a blast being immersed in your adventure, and musically it is clearly among my favorites.
The scrolling text alongside the music does help to glue them together π
I thought about displaying the submission in other ways, but this seemed to be the only way for it to not be a total pain in the ass to read the text together with the music without needing to manually start and stop the audio files for the different parts of the story as you read through them.
Yeah, the parent stuff does not really have a lot of setup before the reveal at the end, mostly since I'm not that good at writing (especially dialogue) and decided to do it this "narration" style while keeping stuff pretty succinct, which meant I the bits of the story really short.
I initially had the thought of having the parent machines appear at the underwater facility for a boss fight or something, so where they would actually talk a bit with familiar sounding voices to the main characters, but I didn't end up doing that (maybe I just didn't want to write the boss/fight music for it? π).
Glad you liked them!
Always love your work; the orchestration is always
I think I'm in a different camp, as I'll always prefer wetter sounds and the idea of the orchestral piece playing live in a hall, which your pieces always give off!
This is a solid JRPG-style story: peaceful village, coming-of-age ceremony, sudden attack, revenge quest with childhood friends. The story has some genuinely effective dark moments; Justo's parents being dead and fused into the machines that attacked the village caught me off guard (since you said *I* went pretty dark in mine haha!) And the ending, where the heroes choose to destroy all the ancient technology instead of using it for power, feels more mature and responsible than I expected from such a trope-heavy plot, and lowkey I can't relate; I want more power lol. Plus, the self-awareness about running out of time was relatable.
Great video and music!
Yea, I went a bit darker than usual for the parent stuff since I've usually gone with a pretty generic JRPG story for my previous ones with a story (Fox Quest 1 & Fox Quest 2) with the basic happy start, bad thing causes action to defeat evil, defeat evil, everybody happy = the end, so had to add some more flavour this time around π
Glad you liked them!
What a fantastic journey you took us. I think you outdid yourself compositionally. This feels so grand but also has still that playful Eetu edge to it. At times it felt a bit like John Williams writing music for a JRPG. The sheer palette of emotions was awesome. Having the story with the songs feels definitly like the definitive version of your presentation, although I had some problems still following what happens on the screen and not just enjoying the music itself. :D
Personally itβs hard to pick a favorite, although the first song kinda resonated the most with me. It kinda had that Kings Field intro vibe. And those games are just peak. And it also had the most range in dynamics and emotional depth.
If Iβd had to nick pick it would be just the Sample libraries sound (which is more subjective and most likely something you cannot change without some pretty beefy investment). But at times it felt like the general orchestra and the instruments could be a bit more into your face with a more direct close sound. That would also mean not only using more of the close mic mix but also placing the close and Decca trees differently into the stereo field. But again this would be the ultimate nick picking, since the general sound is quite good. But I think it would make the emotional impact a bit more raw and bigger than life instead of feeling like the orchestra has taken a step back like being on a stage.
All in all I genuinely in awe with the music and what youβve created. Also the sung vocals were a really nice touch and worked very well.

I went for a bit too dry of a sound for my tastes in my submission to Grunt's OST Album Jam 2026 before this one, so I went a tad too overboard with the reverb on these which made the sound a bit too ambient, though I seem to have a preference for this sort of more overtly washed out sound like Jeremy Soule's stuff in Skyrim had π
I used the Hollywood Orchestra Gold for most of the orchestra and that only has the Decca tree mic so cant really get any additional bite from the close mics, I have parallel compression+saturation channels for the different instruments with some pretty hard compression on them to use in place of the close mics to give more presence/punch and could've probably had those a bit louder to compensate for the reverb amount.
Been thinking about playing through some Kings Field games since I've played most of the other fromsoftware soul's game's, probably should actually get around the playing one π
Glad you liked them!
I think the reverb works fine. It's more the direct bite that feels a bit missing. But like you've said the librarie does not provide it.
As for FromSoft games. If you're more a fan of old school RPGs without the action of modern FromSoft games like SoulsBorne games, but still having that cryptic world building, then I'd highly recomment looking into Kings Field 4 (needs an Emulator). Or even Shadow Tower Abyss if you're ok with a more modern setting with guns.
But if you're just interested in the vibes you could look into games that are heavyly inpired by those old gems like Queens Domain (there is a free demo on steam) or Verho, or in a way even Lunacid.
I appreciated the harmonic and melodic sophistication. Your sample libraries were well-used. Sound design was a little light, but it didn't affect listenability. Great work!
I really liked this approach to sharing what you've made, especially as someone that enjoys audiobooks with musical accompaniment. Very efficient way of showing all your work that I appreciated a lot!
Your composition as a whole was excellent, like a smaller-scale opera with the way you 'scored' the written story. Also, did you perhaps listen to Dune at any point while writing this? For some reason I kept thinking about it while listening to this from time to time lol.
Also, any mention of robots regardless of genre is peak :)
If I had to give any kind of feedback on the story/worldbuilding itself (not as a writer myself, but mostly as a bookworm), there were two notes I had on a few instances: 1) There were a couple instances of characters interacting with each other that I think would've benefited more from actual dialogue vs the narrator observing and stating what the characters are saying, if that makes sense. It wouldn't have to be every interaction or super extensive, but I think it could've been a nice change for the reader while also giving more life to the characters speaking. 2) The final battle with Ombrilego felt a little brief IMO, and I think could've been a more detailed fight considering that's the event much of the journey has built towards.
Thanks for sharing what you made, and keep up the good work :)
Have not seen or read the Dune movies/books, but the whole addition of robots in this was mostly because I didn't really do any proper world building for my submission to your last OST Album jam so I thought I'd try to do something a bit sci-fi/mecha adjacent for this π
Some of the plot elements do take a lot of inspiration from generic JRPG story elements and shows like Turn A gundam with the weapons that destroyed the world + now later I realized I took the whole praising the dormant weapon as a deity from Beneath the Planet of the Apes, which I had watched for the first time a month before the jam, as that has people in the future after the earths destruction from nuclear fallout, who worship an atomic bomb which is really similar π
I didn't write any actual dialogue because I'm not good at writing and the few tries at it before have felt too janky, so I just decided to go with only narration of the story beats, because of that a lot of characters are just named, like Justo's friends and never explored further than just the mentions of "Justo and their party/friends" π
For the Ombrilego fight I kinda got stuck with working on the music for it after I realized how much it sounded like a bootleg version of One Winged Angel with how similar the elements of it are to that, and since I'd been writing the story stuff in tandem with the music I kinda lost the plot on the story part for that as well π
Glad you liked it!
