any walkthrough guides?

this game is massive! I feel like i'm missing out on a lot just by winging it, anybody have a walkthrough guide that is not a video on youtube?

I am a walking encyclopedia for this game as I have just completed it full story and most of the side content I was able to find.  If you got any specific questions or just general strategy or how to get past any particular point, feel free to ask and ill be happy to help.

So...I am on the moon. What exactly am I supposed to do? I can see the big palace, but, can't reach it? Only thing it seems I can do is fight a boss in a shrine.

Can you point me in the right direction for Edea's Tome?  I'm using Oalston as a regular party member.

I'm stuck at the auslen cave door being locked. I checked the town of auslen and heard rumours of a skeleton key for the town, wondering if that's what's needed. Cannot for the life of me find the key! Help?

(1 edit)

I remember not clearly but the key is in a pot in the house in the back row in Auslen.
IIRC, the house is the right-most one on the 2nd tier. The inside has two paths, left and right.
The key is on the right path. 2nd floor.

What does Kokkel do? He says he wishes he could find his master.  Also, how do you unlock Lysa's house in Hillsdale? I have already completed the Wild Cave.

Visit Kokkol after you've progressed through the Memoir Pages side quest as far as possible (collect all 20, bring them to Branch Castle library, then visit Kokkol).

You should receive the key for the locked house in Hillsdale if you talk to Nero with Ami as the party leader (in the game's second part only). Nero's home (in the game's second part) can be found on an island on the central northern edge (northwest of Palumpu).

Hey Euphoniac,

By any chance do you have a list or an idea of the memoir pages' locations? We have a list up in another thread; please let us know if you know any of the missing ones that we have pending.
Regards,

I'm sorry, I didn't take notes during my playthrough and can't recall any locations other than the ones you already confirmed. At least I'm confident that none of the Memoir Pages are permanently missable (i.e. all locations are accessible in the game's second part).

where do i find any yuzu's for Jasmine?

Duncan's Dojo, which is located in the (south-)eastern area of the Ivalice (the southwestern) continent northeast of Costa del Vita, sells Yuzus for Jasmine.

thx!

is Darius';s requiem same as Odin's summon?

The effects of Vera's Odin summon and Darius' Requiem skill are identical (attempt to instantly kill all enemies), but I wouldn't be surprised if the instant kill chance of Odin was higher.

is there a blue magic list somewhere? i have like 10 ish skills? i feel like there should be more

"My" Ami sports the following Blue Mage skills (which is all of them, hopefully): 1000 Needles, Bad Breath, Big Guard, Cave In, Cleansweep, Doom, Flamethrower, Goblin Punch, Laser Beam, Maelstrom, Night, Roulette, Sickle Slash, Storm Breath, Virulent Breath, White Wind. Most of them can be obtained on multiple occasions. Also, by obtaining and equipping the Mimic Stick, Ami can use the skills/mechanics Drain, Cure, Jump, Shuriken, Steal.

oh man, im missing so much; where do you get the mimic stick, maelstrom, and doom?

Maelstrom you get when you beat the boss of the Wild Temple. It is a common drop from it. I believe the Doom spell you get at Faluhd Castle. Some of the mobs there have the book. But I'm not 100% sure.

I missed the mimic stick in the first part of the game, is there another weapon that gives those skills in the game? She is still great without them but having Laka all the time for all bosses to be able to steal stuff is very limited lol... great support character but kind of blah.....

Do summons use the magic stat?

Yes, they don't scale as hard as the other magic users, but it does make a difference in damage.

do you know if there's an item that increases summon damage?

I have not found any item that specifically raises the summons damage. Just raising her magic stat.  At the end of the game I had her around 650-700 magic stat. Her strongest summon was about 23k,  second strongest 11k,  third 8k, and the rest were 5k or less barring weakness.

I started the classic game but put it down because I was worried I'd end up missing something I wouldn't be able to get later.  Anything from the original two games I need to be aware of?

can you recruit lazula, the guy with the lightbringer sword.

Apparently not (Lazula is one of the 6 guest party members). The 22 playable permanent party members are (in alphabetical order): Adder, Ami, Babariccia, Bosche, Brindle, Cid, Coral, Darius, Elina, Godot, Jasmine, Laka, Lyric, xxx (obscured - spoiler), Moguel, Nobumasa, Oalston, Oliver, Ovelia, Siegfried, Vahn, Vera. Please refer to the character recruitment guide on the game page on how to recruit the optional characters if you need help.

No, but you will fight her at one point and beating her gets you her sword.  There is also one additional character who joins not mentioned in the character screen on the website. so thats a surprise.

i bet she's the final boss of the arena?

Is the extra character who joins whose not mentioned secret or story related

Story-related. You can't miss the party member whose name I didn't mention, but it would be a story spoiler to reveal this party member's name. I think it was already a mistake of mine to even include this party member in an alphabetical list; if you can guess the first character of this party member's first name, it won't take much imaginative power to figure out their identity.

curiosity has gotten the better of me. No need to share who ???? Is but how late in the game they join ???

Very late, when you already finished around 90% of the story and only have two (very large) mandatory dungeons left to complete.

Anybody know how crit is calculated? does speed have anything to do with it?

Crit is its own independent stat in the game.  Items add Crit, and thats how you raise it on the character.  Luck has more to do with steal/skill chances for abilities.  Speed is just combat action order every round.  Evasion is also its own stat which some characters can basically break by stacking it so high they become immune to physical attacks.  This was a strategy I used for a couple bosses in the game.

how did you get 100% evasion? i can only manage 90% on laka...

Is it just me, or once the worlds merge the game runs like ass. something is definitely wrong.

Anybody know how many summons are there? i think im missing a few, i really want to find the phoenix, where is that?

It's from a hunt.

Perhaps this is a stupid question but how exactly do i get through organa? i got a cutscene, and now there is just npcs blocking the way fainted, i tried interacting with them and nothing is happening is my game bugged???

(+1)

If I remember correctly, you need to defeat the boss at the bottom floor of the Aether Mine next (if you couldn't explore the Aether Mine before, you should be able to now after having triggered the cutscene in Organa). The Aether Mine is located just a bit south(west) of Organa, slightly northeast of the Wayfarer's Rest. If you walk from Organa to the Wayfarer's Rest or the other way round, you can't really miss it.

How many memoir pages are there for the side quest? I have 13 so far. At the tail end of the game ready to go to the tower of babel.

The side quest to make the "ultimate weapon" or whatever, asking for a bunch of items like Adamant Ore, e.t.c, where do you get all these items?

I found Edea's Tome, what do I do with it to teach the black mage the ultimate magic or whatever? Nothing happened after I obtained it.

Can you get all sealed legendary weapons? I've only gotten like 6 keys.

There are 20 Memoir Pages in total (which the quest giver mentions at some point). The final one (progression-wise) can be found in the Tower of Babil.

Regarding the crafting side quest, though it has already been mentioned elsewhere on this forum: Adamantium Ore is at least a confirmed drop (not steal) from Black Dragons in the Temple of Kaison (other rare monsters there might drop it too, or not). Vamammoth Fang is a drop (not steal) from Vamammoth, which can be encountered in the ice region on the world map outside of the Tower of Babil. Speaking of which: Pure Nethicite, if I remember correctly, can be found in a treasure chest inside the Tower of Babil.

Bring Edea's Tome to Altney Archives. Then Oalston can learn one of the two ultimate black magic spells. Please refer to Overworld Map 3 in the game's "maps and guides" folder if you have trouble reaching Altney Archives (it's located on the southeastern continent).

I also only managed to obtain 6 Mystic Keys (5 from slaying the Elemental Fiends to gain access to the Elemental Abyss, which is mandatory, and 1 for defeating Bahamut and the eight successor dragons), so I don't know if or how all weapons in the Armory of the Ancients can be claimed.

I have only found 6 keys as well. I had done almost all of the side dungeons before Elemental Abyss and gotten Darius and Vahn's mother weapons. I chose:
- The dagger first because Laka had nothing and it was a huge boost (3 other users as well)
- The staff because 4 characters can use it
- The Sword (Mythraven) for Lyric
- The Darksword because it has higher Vigor than Darius' mom-weapon
- The ninja blade has 200 spirit
- The lance since you have 2 lance users (it's great for Adder)

SAVE before choosing and pick what you need most. On the other 4:
You get a 900 vigor axe from Brindle if you have him as the blacksmith in your camp after the elemental fiends are defeated.
The bow is meh.
The rod is also meh.
You get better hammers for Cid and it has no magic for Vera

Well my run is bricked, I was under the assunption that you can eventually get all the weapons like FF5 so I just picked whatever. Oh well.

Where did you find Edea's Tome?  I went to the Ancient Library, where I assumed it was, and there was nothing in there.

Edea's tome is located at the top of Archaeron Spire; this tower is located north of Mount Houzell. The place is surrounded by swamps, so you do need the chocobo to get there.

So...I'm on the moon. What exactly do I do? I see the big palace, but can't seem to get to it? Only thing I can seem to do is fight a boss in a shrine.

The game has a "maps and guides" folder, which also contains a map of the moon. Overworld Map 5 shows you exactly where you need to go.

...lol. I didn't even look. Thanks!

Ok, so i finally finished the game, clocked in at 120hours; here's my 2 cents:

Holy shit bugs! SAVE every chance you get!

Game isn't Hard, sure some bosses will throw you off, but its classic jrpg; just equip what you need, change the party up a bit...This forum has helped me greatly, and i hope it helps future gamers the same.

My final boss group was: Vahn, Jasmine (due to this forum suggesting), Oalston with meteo, and Rolan or whatever his name is, the Red mage, he could of been replaced by any t3 healer.  Vahn is kinda meh until you get his final weapon, and holy shit is it strong. Jasmine needs a lot of work, but her final build is 30k dmg a turn with pummel, oalston is the goat of dps with meteo, nothing even comes close! And if you're worried he's squishy, just give him those tabs, i got him up to 8k hp!

the story is decent, i'd give it 7/10, for a free game its definitely worth it, but it needs a lot of polish to carry the "final fantasy" title.

anyways, Thank you very much for this fantastic game, Oh, by the way, will there be other remakes?

How do I get to Couerl Woods for the Tidechaser?

In the basement of Branch caste. Take the opposite path that you did in the Hans scinario.

Thx.

I'm a little confused by the Infinitarium. Do I need to just keep collecting the chests, or is there more to it?

yea, keep going down the stairs and you'll eventually get to the boss

(1 edit)

Got it!

As an aside, a few more questions

1. Whats the trick to Jachol Cave? I can't find anyone who talks about it.
2. Where is Edea's Tome?
3. What do I do about Kokkol, if anything?

in the maze in the underworld I managed to find the pearl dragon boss. Is there anything else there or is that the only path?

(1 edit)

This guy has videos on most of the game.
