The omens offer a lot of vivid ideas for creative storytelling at the table.

Thank you kindly!

I'm not an expert about MB so I can't say if the PCs should know in advance that a particular mask is resembling that specifical god. However, the omens are very evocative!

Developer

Thank you! As to whether they would know? No, since MB doesn’t have Gods in the typical RPG sense at all, and every Myth operates under its own internal logic, and there need be no consistency from one to the next. Essentially, every Knight is as in the dark as a layperson NPC in nearly every Myth, they just have the fortitude & tools to resolve it.

This is fantastic, the vibes are immaculate and visual design is super dark which fits perfectly. Love the masks, particularly the fox mask omen, great stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very kindly! Raval seems to be the audience favorite by a wide margin lol

art and text work well together to render a vibrant, eerie, gloomy setting. Very conscious use of the MB structure. eye scratching font, very painful

Oh god this is amazing! Strikingly eerie artwork and the omens perfectly capture the grim horror theme.

Beautiful art and layout. I love the mythology behind the myth you came up with, including the different idols.

Developer

Thank you very much!

This adventure feels like it could be slipped into a Mythic Bastionland world easily. Great writing and lovely imagery. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Very much appreciated!

Love to see some Mythic Bastionland! And a cool little hexcrawl to boot! Great imagery and design here.

More Mythic Bastionland content! The setup of a (small) landscape + myth is smart design for a MB module. 10 omens made me do a double-take, but I realized there's no reasons why a myth should have exactly 6. The cast of characers is fun; seems like a nice myth to try :)

Developer

Thank you kindly! I initially wanted to do 12, so that I could sit between the 6 Omens of a normal Myth & the 24 Omens of The City Myth, but mimicking the house style in A5 instead of Bastionland’s A4 left me far less room to work with lol

I am hoping to see more >6 Myths in the future!

A super evocative hexcrawl! Also great to see more things to use in Mythic Bastionland, very immediately slot-able into a new or ongoing MB game. I really love the setting of the crawl, very moody and gloomy. The list of omens are a lot of fun (I liked the fox one!) and the use of masks throughout gave it that folk horror vibe. Great use of art throughout (cover, hexes, interior) and use of the MB "house style" makes it fit right in with official releases.

The only minor quibble I had was the font color on the background, but I see from the other comments that that is planned to be addressed, so all in all, really great adventure I would enjoy running or playing!

Developer

Thank you so much for the thorough review! I am happy to see all the love Raval has gotten (he’s my fave too).

Please do let me know if you do end up running it! And I am itching to fix that font color!

Love some folk horror! Very eerie module, the art on page 4 is particularly spooky. I really like all the Idols, especially Aduwn, and the whole idea of collecting their masks and changing encounters based on whether or not masks are worn. There are a couple of points I'd like to see spelled out a bit more; firstly, what happens to an Idol when its mask is removed or given up? I was initially assuming the Idol in question then ceases to be (as the Lady's request is to strike them down) but as the Sun and Moon are more powerful unmasked, I think I was mistaken. And similarly, what conditions need to be met for the barriers around the realm to fall - do all the Idols need to be struck down, or just Giltaan?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for reviewing!

I was trying to mimic Bastionland’s style of not explicitly spelling things out in module, so that different tables could interpret things as they see it. The way I wrote, however, is that being unmasked does strike down everyone except The Sister & Giltaan, who are life-linked. Giltaan giving his Mask for the temple is kinda like hibernation, while The Sister would die (as she desires) if Giltaan’s were taken forcibly. As for the barrier, it would fall immediately after Giltaan’s is removed, but I tried to imply that it would rise again around whatever temple the PC’s found if his deal were taken. I hope that makes more sense with the context you already had, but please let me know if none of that came across!

Ah, I did wonder if there was a Mythic Bastionland aspect that I was missing, as I'm not that familiar with it. I think most of what you've said is what I'd have put together, if pressed; though I didn't pick up on the Sister and Giltaan being life-linked rather than just enemies (which is a nice touch!).

Didn't see many Mythic Bastionland scenario in the jam, and yet the system is so apt for a condensed jam like this ... by the way, great folk-horror atmosphere and mask mechanics.

My main operative feedback is just the stray bracket in Aduwn's stat block and a couple of layout notes. The text is evocative and captures the M.B. aesthetic perfectly, but the whitish-purple text on grey and blue can be a bit tricky to read. A reader-friendly version stripped of the visual amenities for the overburdened Master would be extremely useful.

Fantastic work overall

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I am thankful to not be the only MB entry, but I fully agree with your assessment & hope to see more in the future!

Per the edits, yeah, the pink text part wasn’t intended, it was an error caused by my learning Affinity for this jam & not realizing it had even done that lol. I fully intend to edit/fix these as soon as the judging period ends- as editing during judging is not allowed.

Ooft I love the visuals on this one. Very atmospheric. I've seen so much mythic bastionland recently. I'm going to have to try it out...

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I’ve ran 3 short campaigns so far, and I absolutely adore the system. I hope you get a chance to try it out soon!

Woohoo for a Mythic Bastionland submission! I really like the art created for the myth. Having multiple myth hexes to trigger omens is a great idea for setting this adventure up for a single session, and I like how there are more omens to give players the opportunity to connect with the cast and themes.

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m hoping this method of speeding up Omens catches on as an optional rule for folks who want faster results. I personally don’t think the current rules are too slow, but I have had players roll high & not see anything interesting for half a session

Submitted(+1)

yes, folk horror!! The omens were really intriguing, great vibe going here. The marionette and Fox omens especially sound super cool!

Developer

Thank you! I think you might be the 1st person to shout out Aduwn, who I thought was an interesting encounter
