Everything comes together so well! A very charming game, super impressive. My only critique would be that the slow swim speed becomes really frustrating with the backtracking you have to do, but the visuals, audio, and gameplay are really nice!

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving feedback! Yeah the movement feels kinda slow/repetitive near the end of the experience, a little more variation to it could work better.

Glad you like it 👍

Very neat! The background music was really well put together, kudos there! Loved the look of it, especially the big 'ol squid boss near the third relic.

Fun! The only issue i came across was that i did try to play with a controller but couldn't seem to aim? Still! that aside, nice  job all!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, you are the first one to mention that controller feedback so it's really helpful.

Glad you like it 👍

Agree that movement could be a bit faster, but this was really nice to play. Everything from the intro to the credits felt super polished. Very well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and commenting. We should definitely review the movement system, imo having more room for different situations and decisions regarding movement would definitely help for it not to feel slow. And maybe a risk reward option of going faster but with a potential downside.

We're glad you like it 👍

Really enjoyed the image of the big squid flashing in the dark when I finally found where to hit it. Swimming speed could probably be a bit faster but beyond that the polish is UNREAL! Everything in the art style / sound design meshes really well and I didn't run into any bugs :)

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and commenting. We should definitely review the movement system.

Nicely done. It was fun and just the right length. But what does the final relic do?!?!?!
:D

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing through the end. The final relic is the friends we made along the way lol.

We're glad you like it :)

Visually adored this game! The mechanics were fun and engrossing as well, though I do agree with others the swimming could be a little faster. It also took me way too long to realize I could dash by pressing space lol but that's a me issue. Otherwise I love love loved this, and played it all the way through to the end! Great job!

Thanks a lot for playing and leaving feedback. We should definitely review the movement system.

This was fun and really interesting. I liked the way you used the theme. Being deep underwater already creates that constant sense of danger. And tying your oxygen directly to survival makes everything feel like impending doom the whole time.

Really cool concept and atmosphere. Nice work!

Simple mechanics but the whole atmosphere art style and sound design makes it a very cool experience.

Swimming could be a little faster (personally i found the light upgrade not that great both gameplay and immersion wise , maybe increasing dash distance would be better although thats more of preference).

The ending while expected was still a good twist.
Overall great submission!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! I agree that the second upgrade and the movement could be improved in future versions to make for more interesting moment to moment decisions and adhering more to the overall mood of the game.

Solid, solid game. I kind of suspected the ending before I got there (what with the shipwreck at the bottom of the sea...) but the art is beautiful, the score is great, and it was legitimate Solar Jetman-style fun.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!
Solar Jetman is a cool reference to have since it has a very similar gameplay to our game, thanks for sharing it.

Really awesome job! Solid base mechanics, awesome art/music that lends to a eerie atmosphere, I enjoyed playing. Maybe if I had to nitpick, the swimming could be a little faster but seems that has already been said.

Reminds me of a certain flash game I played a long time ago, unlocked a core memory for sure.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Perhaps a bit hard, mostly related to the visibility area; but the atmosphere is pretty cool. Good entry!

Developer(+1)

We definitely were looking to make the visibility and increased light upgrade fair while still keeping the spookiness of a dark ocean. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing!

i really liked the atmosphere of this game

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Pretty cool entry!, atmosphere was well built and the variety of monsters was awesome. In my opinion, the difficulty is too easy, but other than that its a greatly build game. Great Job!

Developer

Thanks for giving it a go! What part felt too easy? Was the oxygen too much?

Submitted(+2)

Awesome entry! The atmosphere was excellent. I do wish movement was a bit faster; even with the dash, the final path back to the surface felt like it was beginning to drag a little.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback. I think that maybe it has something to do with it becoming repetitive on the way back, so it might feel that you are too slow. Maybe with a variety of decisions on the way back the movement wouldn't feel odd.

Really enjoyed this one. Played all the way through. Well balanced. Loved the atmosphere and the use of oxygen as a health mechanic.

Congratulations on the game, the best thing about the game is the atmosphere, I loved the music. The game loops seems a bit slow, it takes some time until it ramps up.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We appreciate the feedback!

Delightful and original. Who says 2D is dead. Could have done with knowing dash (Space) sooner as the to and fro is what it is. Good use of physics for drag and lighting.

Perfectly sized and tuned to a game jam.

Might want to have a look at the volume sliders.

Developer

Thanks for playing we are glad you enjoyed it! and the feedback is much appreciated
