How does your game meet GBJam's theme
Oh well, the team just love pirates. And what fits best of a rush for some good ol' pices o' eight?

Nice execution, everything adds up - upgrade, sound, lovely art. Good job!
This is one of those entries which I could totally see me playing on actual hardware as a kid. The art direction is lovely, the game has upgrades and repeatability with a cool score chaser loop!
Graphically the game looks spotless, I love everything you presented and the boss icons slowly gaining color as you defeat them is a lovely touch!
Bitcrushed sound effects made by the dev, a banger soundtrack, only bad thing is the sound balance of the waves, they drown out many effect you would probably want to be over them.
The game is lovely, super cool job!
Thank you so much for the lovely review we’re really happy you enjoyed the game and noticed all the little details! ❤️
Plays very well and looks great. I had fun thank you!
The game looks wonderful and has a lot of fun! Great job!
Wow, really fun and very good-looking! liked the music! I loved the little portraits of the enemy ship :>; excellent work!
I liked the perspective of sailing forwards with the continuous stream of the ocean. The music was very gameboy, as was the sound effects of the cannonball colliding with an obstacle. A fun way to rush for gold.
What a fun game 😭 really enjoyed playing this.
The gameplay is good, the art is nice, the sounds are aaaaaall neat. The chosen palette is great!
Congrats!!
Nice I love the simple idea of making a Temple run like game on a 2D level. Very well executed with the effect that stuff comes over the horizon! The art is good. Love it!
Like the gameplay , it just need a bit of difficulty as time pass by , but in general i enjoyed it .
gotta say , blub blub
Blub blub to you buccaneer!
Nice work! It’s a lot of fun to play. This duck really got me :D
We actually forgot (especially me) to give some hints about what the rubber duckies do when both hit with the cannon bal and picked-up with the ship.
Spoiler: hit the duck with the cannon increases the chances of spawning a kraken; pick-up jams your cannon for 1 more second.
Love how bold your colours are, they really pop. This might be a hot take but I feel like you could maybe develop this further as a rhythm game? Everything was in threes and I just got a musical vibe from it all
Bro, you just gave me a crazy idea to transform this entry in a full fledge rogue-lite rhythm game! That’s actually crazy ahahah
Thank you so much for both the review and the idea!
Nice entry! Had me playing for a while without even noticing lol
Hope you had fun mate :)
The game was simple and fun to play. I liked that there was a cooldown on the cannon, so you had to choose when to use it. Art and sounds were perfect game boy feel
Like others have said, the patterns did get a little repetitive and there was a bit too much down time between waves.
Loved the submission though! Gonna have my wife try it out
The game is fun to play and the core mechanic is simple and easy to understand.
After a while the loop starts to feel a little repetitive, so a bit more variety between sections could help keep things fresh. I did like that each section ends with a boss fight, though, and that the bosses vary in their attack patterns and difficulty.
I also really liked the way progression is shown through the portraits of the defeated bosses filling with color in the main menu. It's a small detail, but it gives a nice sense of progress throughout the game.
Overall, a very good and enjoyable game!
A very satisfying experience! I do find that the boat's movement makes dodging things a bit infuriating at times, but overall great job at making such a cohesive game in this amount of time!
Takes a while to start, but the overall gameplay's pretty good. I really like how you chose 4 radically different colors instead of going monochromatic like most other games.
How are you supposed to beat the french cat boss though. Kind of frustrating to die at 150 coins by one hit and then have to do it all over again.
Yup, we swapped cat and final boss difficulty tuning T.T But thanks for the feed back! Also health, boat steering speed and cannon cooldown are all improvable by spending gold on the shop.
It was fun, I finishied it :)![]()
nice little game with a cool soundtrack. the pacing is a bit slow at the beginning. the graphics are nice and I the way the objects appear gives it depth. well done.
It's so much fun! The artistic elements (characters and music) give it a lot of personality. I love it!
The game at its core is novel in nature, essentially subverting the SHMUP genre by asking you steer a boat with boatlike controls and fire at enemies with just a simple cannon. The pacing is a bit slow, but the core game ends up being surprisingly fun, because the game is balanced around this initial awkwardness; there's real genuine satisfaction when you learn the finesse of steering the boat and start downing enemies. The parallax(?) scrolling also helps to "sell" the immersion of sailing the sea.
