I really like how you interpreted the secondary theme of old gold. I also love the art, well done on that! It's a shame that some content had to be cut, would love to see more!

How does your game meet GBJam's theme
In Latin American folklore, a guaca is an old buried treasure, often gold or savings hidden during wars or hard times. The stories say it belongs to the dead, so you can't just dig it up. You have to earn it with a ritual and the right offerings.
For us, the real "old gold" is what people carry with them: memories of a father who drank too much but loved deeply, a grandmother who walked the forest every morning, a mother who never said thank you. Each villager shares a memorie, and that tells you which offerings to bring and where to dig.
When you return the guaca, the villager gets back a lost piece of their family's story. That's what old gold means in our game.

Great art and animation. I got lost in the level there for a bit until I finally found where I was supposed to be. I appreciate that all enemies disappeared once I placed all three thingies. Well done!
Found all the stuff and whacked some ghouls. Loved the artwork and how smooth it played, especially the attack animation with the shovel. Hopefully you guys get to add more too it later on. Great submission!
Beautiful game. The graphics are amazing, the animations satisfying, the lore intriguing. Really good storytelling as well. I might remember this game just from the art alone.
The intro/town art is gorgeous! The game has a very interesting idea, I can see the vision. Hope you can add all the stuff you wanted to but didn't have time for.
The graphics are incredible. Love the art style and unique colour palette. Can't believe you have a dialogue system too! I think the map was a bit too big, as I ended up getting lost and didn't really know what to do without looking at the description on the webpage. Maybe a map could have been useful? Otherwise, great submission :)
Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words! Really glad you liked the art and the palette, our artists put a ton of love into it.
And yeah, you're totally right about the map. Like one of our artists mentioned, we had to cut a lot to make the deadline, and better guidance was one of the things that didn't make it in.
Also, I'm really happy you noticed the dialogue system! I built it from scratch and I' damn proud of it, so that means a lot c:
Beatiful graphics, simple gameplay, a well done short but complete experience !
