How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The entry follows the theme in two ways. On a literal level, coins are the core mechanic of the game: you collect them and you may use them. Furthermore, on a metaphorical level, each main pirate ghost is trapped in their personal "old gold", which is an ancient tie that traps them in the realm of the living (be it a promise, a memory, a job promotion and so forth).

This might be good for the RPG, but I think the improvements you might need is possibly a shop to refill HPs when you are low on hearts and maybe have some items to gain experiences like raising HP more.

I loved this, the writing is so so good, highly enjoyable. Great art, music and overall pacing too. Dugg is very cool, the crab... the whole game made me smile :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! A smile is worth a thousand words ❤️

Very nice game! I especially loved the music and the dialogue :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Dialogues took a lot of research and it’s nice to see that it paid off 🏴‍☠️

Parleying with the foes reminded me of Undertale. I also really liked the graphics and the design of the main character and the foes. Great work !

Developer

Thank you! Undertale was definitely one of our inspirations :)

You did a great job at the writing! I really love the design of Dugg, so cute!

I wonder, if only 3 of 4 devs support the non violent ending, does that mean one of the developers is a violent dugong.
Jokes aside, I enjoyed the humour, and had a blast playing this!

Developer(+2)

Hi! thank you so much for your feedback we really had fun writing the characters and their dialogues.
the 3 of 4 is a inside joke among us devs, since one of us wanted a fight option at all costs to avoid visual novel effect :D

Really cute game! Interesting interpretation of the theme. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it :)

Really enjoyed the writing (unfortunately there is no rating for that, so my appreciation went into the quirkiness rating), I like how you brought in the secondary theme. I dont know how I feel about essentially the choice being between dialogue and gameplay with dialogue being the morally correct choice. I think it would have worked better if there was some gameplay element to the parley. The fact that it sparked that sort of thought is in itself a good thing in my eyes though!

Developer(+2)

Hi! thank you for your feedback :) we really wanted to implement that but we ran short of time, I hope in the future we can expand this element.

Parley's were probably too quick to "convince" the enemy, but other than that, this was nice. A fun story, neat fight mechanics, and an overall good game. I liked it!

Thank you for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed it ❤️

Great game and the dialog was hilarious, which is not easy to pull off ! Had a great time playing it, thanks !

thank you so much ❤️ we loved writing each character and showing their personalities through it!

The talking way of beating the game is amazing, and theres two more endings? Really cool to implement that mechanic in a gamejam game. I would have loved it even more if the dialog option also took more than one turn and wasn't just an instant fight ender. But the story is good enough to make more then just up for it, i loved it!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words ❤️ We would have loved to include some form of parley combination, got little time left, sadly. Glad you liked it though!

Love the dialogue.  Way to commit to the pirate theme!

thank you so much! did a lot of research :D

I like that gold is used as mana :)

It's a pretty basic RPG with a neat mechanic of just talking things out with the crew, which is pretty neat.
