Nice game. I think I won all the maps by sinking ships, but I started trying tactics like blocking off undug areas of the map so the game could not end early.  I'm curious if I can win through collecting gold alone. Visual art, UI, sound design and music were very true to Game Boy. Cool typography for game title. Map variety was nice. Could be a really solid foundation for a game of expanded scope.

I got a bit confused since I could not find a "back" button after i did missklicks.
Not being able to see if I was in range of shooting the enemy was also a bit of a problem for me.
The game feels like it would be tactical but hard to make choices when one does not know how to beat the enemy in the best way ^^"

You can never get enough of these small jams strategy games. Very nice entry.

I'll start with a bug I've found : in the main menu you can softlock yourself by pressing left or right. My guess is that the level choice button is already active before the player hits start.

The game itself is pretty great, simple and elegant. I love how you've circumvented the need for pathfinding by having the player make each move themselves and how each boats orientation double as a faction market. Very clever way to work around your limitations.

Not having a range indicator when aiming a ship was a bit of a bother but then again this was also the case for fire emblem 1. The great thing about well executed simple concepts is that every bit of clunk just add to the gameboy soul. Nice one.

All around very good entry, I especially appreciate having the option to choose a starting battle. Always useful during a jam.

Oh, yes! another strategy game hehe! This one was a ton of fun for me, I played in the three maps, really fun and really well done. The only thing I would like is to freely check the enemy boat stats. Also, really impressive to do a small AI in a jam, even if it's not the best player (I played the three maps going full agro and killing all the enemy ships haha), it's always hard to make one in such a small time!

Snazzy tactics game. Felt just the right amount of thinky. My only wish would be a clearer victory statement after crushing that other silly band of pirates.

Very good game. I like tacticals like that! Nice music and art!

Nice little turn-based ship game. Simple, but fun to play.

Lovely little idea, which could probably work well as an actual boardgame as well! Only small issue for me is a lack of “go back” in menus, meaning I could redo movement of my ship, accidental pressing enter why my ship is selected and throwing away a turn etc. until that action doesn’t reveal gold data.

The game looks lovely has a neat style to it which works super well, game mechanics are tight and sfx and mx are well done!

super cool job!

Thank you! I watched your YouTube video and saw your rating and actually was surprised at how much you liked it! I was very flattered.

Regarding the back button: I decided very early on that I was not going to make a back button, because I knew I'd have to decide I'd either have combat mechanics or a back button, but not both, given that I have a day job and am a one-man show. But yes, it's on the list of things to add if this were to become a full game.

Nice Advance Wars vibes! It's just missing indicators for movement range and fire range. Great work so far!

Really enjoyed playing your game, well done! The music seemed a little quiet, but hard to tell if that was on my end, but otherwise the art, gameplay, and sound were all great! It definitely feels like something I would have been playing on my Gameboy on the bus back in the day!

just wow! I had such a fun time playing this game. The audio and music, just fantastic! The pixel art is simple, clean, and  I reminds me so much of Tamagotchi! The concept is really good and cant wait to see what else comes from this!

I want you to finish this game because it's basically a Lost UFO 50 style game and I love UFO 50 games.

I know I already said this, but I just really enjoyed the concept

Thank you! I'm going to be mulling that over about how I might do that.

I absolutely love this. Please expand on this idea!

A good game with an interesting concept and a successful implementation of the second theme. The atmospheric sound and graphics take me back to the golden age of the NES and Game Boy. The only thing I’d like to see improved is the user interface, which sometimes obscures the view on the game board. Thanks for the game—I had a great time!

This feels like a fun UFO 50 game! My  biggest complaint is that you can't see how far each ship fires and in what direction before firing, would like a visual indicator of some sort.

I too thought there should be more ways to get data on the "playing pieces," or even have a "back" functionality for orders, but did not have time to implement it. (Heck I added combat mechanics only on Sunday.) This game is basically a mash-up of Advance Wars and a miniatures game (Pirates of the Spanish Main) I played as a kid. Advance Wars had that kind of UI, so this should too.

I never heard of UFO 50, but sounds like people really like it, so I'll take that as a great compliment.

This genuinely is a game i hope you update past the jam, I will totally play it. Another mechanic wrinkle or feature and it would be a certified classic.

I won :) Very fun game, really feels like a game boy game
