How does your game meet GBJam's theme
This game is built around cleansing of the haunted Gold Records from famous (cheekily named) musicians in this GameBoy style Haunted Record Store.

The game is packed with 13 chiptune audio tracks, and a seriously epic final boss track - mimicking famous Gold Record music. Your job is to cleanse the haunted records to return them to their original shine, as you work through a series of audio puzzles and store buy/sell mechanics.

Those chiptunes were *really* CPU hogs.  The game took a few minutes to load and the browser froze for a few seconds before each track (and this is a new computer; I bought it in December).  But as for the game itself, it was great.  (Once I realized that each style of music had a "correct" action, and it wasn't just random trial and error)

A very different take on old gold records than what my record-buying game is/was going to use. :D

Thanks for the play through and feedback!

We had to generate audio files for all different EQ permutations for each track to get the EQ puzzles to work. Since Godot’s web audio samples can’t use buss effects, that was the only way we could think to make it work! ffmpeg to the rescue :D but yeah, it can be a little slow as it loads a lot of mp3s playing simultaneously.

Fun game with really excellent art. There was a bit of annoyance with the RNG of what records are available to you. I didn't have the option to buy a rock album until the last day.

Hey thanks! Big compliments when the art for your game was so good!
Yeah, sometimes there can be quite the dry spell. We tried to make it so that you will get what you need for sure by the end of the 7 days, but the RNG gods definitely make the game experience different every playthrough. Something for us to iron out for sure :)

What an awesome game idea! I really liked this one. I especially liked the music. I'm curious, what tool(s) did you use to make your  music?

Developer

Hey thank you! Between the two of us that were on music, we used a combination of Ableton, Cubase, as well as GB Studio's chiptune music editor for a couple songs. Pretty neat little tool, especially for Gameboy themed music!

This game was so cool. I was horrible at cleansing the records hah, but I really enjoyed this.

Developer

Hey thank you, thanks for playing!

WOWW!! This was my favorite game so far. there are so many different mechanics and elements that its actually super impressive. I loved the art style and enemy designs so much! The music was fantastic especially the final bosses song. my favorite character was Burt Bromain took me a couple of tries till I finally impressed him with sth.

Thank you for the kind words and the play through! It’s funny, the final boss track wasn’t even planned - it was just going to be a generic record.. But, it came out so good, that we added the final boss mechanic last minute!

Any parts of the gameplay loop that you’d improve?

Well y'all cooked with that track. I would maybe make the part where the ghost drop disc through the day a but more deeper maybe. also the boss fights were great, but you can kinda cheese it a bit by just spamming the faster  or slower buttons until they shake to their max, though idk what would be fix for that without making it too difficult.

Yeah, agreed, the shake makes it easy (at least the different sounds are still fun to play with!) we initially didn’t have the shake in the puzzle. but with the chiptune style music, it is surprisingly hard to get the speed right, as many speeds can sound correct. Thanks again for the feedback!

Loved the color palette used, and the music was very good! The Cleanse battle sequence was also enjoyable. Overall, great job!
