Really enjoyed this game. I found you can easily cheese it by rejecting all the customers.

Submitted (1 edit)

Looks like there's no character limit on the character naming textbox so I decided to go for some super long name. Anyways, I really enjoyed the minigames when preparing the espresso, and frothed milk. Also kinda funny you can just reject the customers, funny stuff like this makes the game fun as well. The art is pretty cool too.

Lovely game, I really enjoyed the little characters sprite when they don't like the drink ahah

lovely game, I like the character designs of the customers and the minigames! the fact you can opt out of them makes for a nice QoL touch ^^

although, the fact that you lose items when you don’t drag them to the right place does make it a bit confusing. luckily I figured out why it disappeared, so it wasn’t a game-breaker.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! (: & yeahhh i definitely wish we were able to get that resolved before submitting, but glad you still had a good experience and thanks for checking out our game!

I really enjoyed the gameplay loop! Discovering each character’s preference through story bits was super nice, and it was super well written! Also super pretty art direction!

Be careful on the instruction/clarity side, I lost an entire day loosing customers because I couldn’t figure what frothed meant (english isn’t my first language, I googled it but it didnt really helped, making reference to bubbles…?) and I didn’t notice that the caffee machine had 2 dispensers, was searching for a spoon to mix the drink or something :/ Also I kept wasting my ingredients by not dragging them exactly on the right spot, really tasted my patience there UU”

but, step by step I took a grasp on it and after a couple of days those were already less of an issue! And I really had a great time with your characters in that cool universe! (Some of those creepy forms where suuuuper cool looking)

last little thing, I didnt get how you introduced the jam limitation in your game…?

Ok last last thing for real: was the tutorial screen a crow and fox tale easter egg? super cute!

Developer

Oh yikes - I'm really sorry about that experience! That's really good to know though - I just made a fix that should hopefully help post-jam where when you pick up an object, it now highlights all the spots you can drop it but unfortunately I wasn't able to get it in this version ): Maybe I can tweak the wording too to make it clearer! I'm sorry you had that experience though, but we both really appreciate the feedback and for taking the time to play!

The jam limitation was implemented a few different ways - anytime you turn around to go to the cafe and click back to the character, they start to mutate. Also if you get a "bad" order, they fully mutate as you "turn around" away from the coffee bar. In addition with the overall story, the characters are supposed to be "not as they seem" and you only see their "true" forms when they get upset or you aren't actively looking at them (:

Oooooo no it wasn't in reference to the tale actually, but that would've been a fun twist to add!! :D

Oh ok I see the intent here! And I understand how I missed it with the way I played: First I welcolmed the customers, without leaving the screen I asked them for the clue, then I went to make the drink and once the drink was done I clicked the serve button. No back and forth, no opportunities for the limitation to show itself :/ one way to incentive the player to make back and forth could’ve been to put the drink recipes on the customer screen instead of the brewing area! Now I’m a bit sad I didnt get to see those in between stages xD

Thank you for explaining it to me, I’ll up my limitation rating since you genuinly worked with it!

Gg for the game, and don’t worry to much about those couple of misteps, it didnt keep me from playing a good 1-2 hours, unlocking every clues, while genuinly enjoying my time ✨

Developer

Ahh yeah that makes sense too! We definitely had to figure out the balance a bit for when to show what, but thank you for taking the time to try it out and glad you still enjoyed it so much!! :D

I like how the character's change, and I like that you added a skip button :) Even though I used it a lot, the mini games were a cool addition and were good for introducing the game!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, thank youu! (: very valid with the skip button haha after testing it for awhile as-is, i felt it a necessity LOL thanks for checking out our game!

Submitted(+1)

This game is so cozy and cute! I like the minigames, but it's getting repetative after day 5 or so. it would be nice to add auto-skip option. Also, creepy customers faces when you get their drinks wrong are both spooky and incredibly cute :)
Game is very polished and fun to play.!

Developer

Ahh very valid and that's a great idea to add an auto-skip! I'll brainstorm a bit about the best way to do something like that - thanks for the feedback and for playing! Happy to hear you enjoyed it! (:

This is such a cute game! Was not expecting the Sheriff to turn into the Demogorgon when I got his order wrong LMAO. That just about killed me! Great job with all the art and designs. I noticed that sometimes the coffee grinds would disappear when I accidentally clicked on them instead of dragging (maybe the collision for the trashcan overlaps with the coffee grinder a bit?)

Overall, super well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank youuu (: & haha yess he's one of my fav creepy characters - my sister went a little crazy with his alter ego LOL

& yes sorry about that! I caught that at the very end and had to leave it in since there was at least a quick work-around, but I got a patch done and will update post-jam! Thank you so much for your feedback and playing!

Submitted(+1)

Oh this is so delightful! The art is amazing and talking with the customers is so fun cause they all have such great personalities. I kinda like that this game has less time pressure than other order taking games like it, so you can just chill and focus on chatting with the characters!

Developer(+1)

Hehe i see what you did there LOL & thank you so much! My sister and I actually debated on the time thing a lot, but we really wanted to lean into the "cozy" vibes where you can just chill, remake stuff as much as you want, and just take it at your own pace, so that's awesome to hear it was the right move! Thank you for taking the time to play! (:

Submitted(+1)

Genuinely a shockingly well made game, I could totally see myself playing this for hours! I did have a bit of an issue trying to put the coffee grounds in the espresso machine where they would just disappear sometimes, but other than that my experience was mostly bug free.  This was definitely one of the most polished and fun games I've played in this jam (and the music is a banger). The art was also really amazing. Fantastic work!

Developer

Thank you so much - such a high complement!! (:

& ahh sorry you ran into that! Honestly that was annoying me too, but unfortunately I had to crunch a bit towards the end and left it in to get it submitted on time (mostly bc there's at least a work-around to recreate the espresso even if it is annoying) ): but I got a patch done and will update post-jam! Thank you for the feedback and for playing!! Glad you enjoyed it :D

All the animal characters look so good and have so much personality! Really liked all their different expressions and designs. The coffee-making minigames were a lot of fun too, especially the coffee grinding one. That one was pretty satisfying, and I like how the coffee grounds are drawn for that one. I also liked the book with all the customer details, it made figuring out everyone's likes/dislikes more interesting. And I definitely wasn't expecting the customers to go all Cthulhu on me when I got their orders wrong LOL. Loved the mix of cozy and creepy going on here. My wife actually does all the art for our games using Procreate brushes too, so it's cool seeing what you two came up with! Great job, both of you!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!! Yeah the coffee grind mini-game took me awhile to get the grains looking like that, so I'm really happy to hear someone appreciated that small detail :D & LOL that was definitely the hope to shock a few people (just a little)!

Procreate is awesomee - there's so much you can do to change up the look of whatever you create (:  (& her artwork in your game looks so cute btw)

Submitted(+1)

Really cozy and immersive little game! Time completely got away from me with this one. Wonderfully done!

Developer

Thank you so much - we love to hear it!! (: Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

It was a fun game! I had a small problem: I accidentally clicked again while purchasing an item, which made my money go negative. I don't know why Ol'Reggie doesn't like flavored iced coffee with the default plain ingredients. All ingredients were creative, and I wish I could try them!

Developer

Oh noo! ): I was crunching towards the end to implement the currency feature, thank you for bringing that up!

If you chat with Ol' Reggie, you'll find out there's a specific attribute he hates that is given in the default options for that drink in particular, so the hope with that is as the player keeps playing, they either a) skip that drink for him learning he wont like the default and/or b) buying an alternative item in the shop that would work for his character. For a few of the characters, we wanted the player to likely trigger the "creepy" phase and get them to have to find a way around it, but might need to work on making that a bit clearer moving forward. Thank you for the feedback and for checking our game out! (:

Submitted(+1)

Addicting enough that I didn't even realize I've been brewing coffee for an hour XD top notch art and very well-made minigames!

Developer

OMG wow we love to hear that!! Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed it so much (:

Dang. Those customers are creepy. I am scared of making a coffee person mad in real life by giving them the wrong order..

Really, really love the art! Amazing job by your sister! The mini-games for making the coffee made sense. I was very aware of the social battery so I just end up YOLO-ing the orders instead of talking to the customers

¯\_ (ᵕ—ᴗ—)_/¯

Of course, that was the wrong answer because they come back with creepier appearance..

Great work you two!

Developer(+1)

Haha very fair - we were hoping to give people different options by either deducing who likes what or chatting w/ them to figure it out, so love the YOLO approach too LOL

Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by to play! (:

Submitted(+1)

Really great game concept and the art is incredible! My customer likes and hates we're not filling out with details so I had a hard time knowing what each customer liked or why they hated what they hated. Seriously good job though!

Developer

Ohh no! I'm not sure why that was the case - were you able to chat with each customer or was it when you submitted a "bad" order?

But thank you so much for the kind words and thanks for playing!! Also really appreciate the feedback so we can fix that issue post-jam! (:

Submitted(+1)

the art is really good! I even jumped a few times at the customers changed appearances, a great mix of cosy and creepy.

Developer

Hahaha love to hear it! That's what we were hoping for (: thanks for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful art, cute characters, the game is very polished! A lot of attention to details, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! (: & thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I love the art, writing and gameplay. The audio was also chosen well and fits nicely.
I really appreciated being able to skip the minigames. Took me some time to understand that it is normal for all the characters to change appearance when you look way. At first, I thought you weren't supposed to serve them if they change. Both of you did a great job!

Developer(+1)

Ahh yeah that's totally fair - we were trying to make it feel like all of the customers were "off" and you'd only see their true colors when you "made them mad" by getting their drink wrong. Thank you so much for playing and glad to hear you enjoyed it!! (:

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the minigames, it was pretty fun to try different combinations for each customers. The character designs for each customer was very unique and fun too, and the horror aspect was pretty shocking too! It's very cozy in a gap moe way haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much!! & haha yay that's what we were hoping to go for - I'm glad that came across well! Thank you for playing (:
