Interesting concept. Well done!!!
I like the concept! however i feel it could use clearer instructions as currently I could not know at what point do i give up interacting with a specific object, when door was locked the mat does say bumpy it should mean it has a key if not it should have a stone or something so i could keep looking.
Depends. If you want to say, the command interface is glitchy and the game lacks all description texts - yes, lack of time on the final lap. If you say, you want more clear instructions, sorry, no, that’s what a point and click is about. Which is ok, but figuring out what to do and how is the genre itself.
I have a copper key and a ladder, but not sure where to “use” them. I totally get the Maniac Mansion references and inspiration, and feel that with a bit more time and polish there could be something here. The atmosphere definitely says classic 80’s adventure game, which is right up my alley. A nice twist on the key hidden under the mat, however I would have liked the character to mention there’s nothing under the mat, as it felt like with the bumpy mat I should be able to look under it. Well done.
Yes, I failed to implement the “use x with y” pattern, long story. It falls back to open the front now. My workaround was to just check the character having the key.
Man.. this gave me Maniac Mansion PSD haha Good Stuff!
This is a really cool concept. I think my brain is a bit too smooth to figure it out though. I couldn't figure out how to get the rug to move (or how to unlock the door). And I see the picture of the player up on the steps by the chair, but I couldn't get my player to go there. Let me know what I might be doing wrong, cause I want to explore inside the house. This seems really cool. I like the idea of switching between the characters to solve puzzles.
You should be able to simply click the door to move the characters up there - or one of the objects on the patio.
Spoilers: The rug is a Hommage to Maniac Mansion only, to open the front door, you have to search the garden behind the house…
Dude, thanks! I think it's my mouse. Takes a few clicks in just the right spot, but I got it. Good work. Honestly, I would play something like this on my channel.
I ran out of time while (unsuccessfully) adding any sound proper “use x with y” pattern, which left the command interface glitchy, it is not your mouse. You simply have to try twice sometimes, as it internally resets the current command more often than it should.
ah that makes sense. No worries! I had fun with it :)
Big maniac mansion vibes! I enjoyed it. Would have loved some sound, but otherwise a worthy homage! Thanks!
Thank you! Sadly, I ran out of time to add any sound, even the best puzzle, which would have required to use both characters, had to be skipped. Most likely, I will update at least this after the lock phase.
Command interface is a bit janky, as I failed to add the “use x with y” pattern, again due to time constraints, but the game isn’t tested and can be finished.
The game is completely confusing and offers very little guidance. I ended up getting stuck right at the gate and had no idea how to progress, so unfortunately, I just gave up. It really needs clearer objectives or visual cues to show the player what to do.
I’m sorry, that this game isn’t for you, but there is no riddle, nor any challenge at the gate - you can simply walk through. Beyond that, it is a point and click adventure. It’s whole point is to figure out, what to do and how.
I had to go into full screen mode for the buttons to work but the only thing that seemed to be available was the gate and it was hard to get the gate to associate with any of the commands it would disappear and reappear
Overall I do like the concept and idea
There is neither a puzzle, nor a challenge associated with the gate, you can simply walk behind it?
Alright I will admit it's been about 20 years since I played a point and click game so I am a little rusty once i dusted the cobwebs off and made it past the gate i was able to find my way to the attic after walking past it for about 10 minutes because i could not see it clearly very nicely done I like it
Not sure if it was just a glitch but none of the buttons seem to do anything so I got stuck at the first bit. I liked the idea though!
This seems to be an issue with the split viewport, going fullscreen should work, even going back then.
