I didn't think I'd see any extraction games in the jam! It's super impressive you managed to put multiplayer into this as well. Overall a really great vibe and a fun experience!

I wonder if the tutorial would work a little better if you made us play 1 or 2 rooms of an extraction first for context?

Were the different mansions handmade or generated?

I like the prep mechanics. Good job

Nice concept and very ambitious for a game jam, good job!

Developer

Thank you :)

This is definitely one of the spookier vibes from the jam. very nice work! Appreciated a nice ghost theme. There were some interactions where you didn’t get the prompt if you were too close so you had to back up to get it like lighting candles and the tutorial was a bit too hand holdy for me but that’s a personal preference. great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I wanted a good, scary game that still fit the PG13 parameter. The hideout tutorial may have been too specific, but I wanted to reduce any learning curve quickly so players could get in and play faster.

Really nice game; the candles going out stressed me more than expected O.O I do think that having the different stations inside the safe room labeled or standing out more, depending on their use, would help to understand faster but no real issue. Again, great job!

Developer

Thanks!

I was very particular about the sounds around the candle, so it adds to the suspense of them going out then the darkness after,

I did try having labels above the stations, but they looked wrong to me, hence the longer tutorial.

Really solid entry. So much depth for a jam game. Can't believe that you made a multiplayer game for a jam... crazy.

Developer(+1)

I don't know if it works is the only issue. I didn't get to test it with another person.

Glad you liked it and thanks for playing :)

Really good atmosphere, the initial UI was a little confusing. Once I got out of the tutorial, I really dug searching through the houses though.

Developer

I’m happy you had a good time.

Did you finish any of the puzzles?

Submitted(+1)

Not yet, am planning to come back and give it some more time soon. There’s too many games to play and rate

Very good presentation on the game! I had headphones on and man the atmosphere was so scary! Minor gripe i wish there was a story element attached to it to give it more flavor! Good one 👌

Developer

Thank you,

I was going for a ghost-pocalyse type story and ended up with and extraction game. Glad you enjoyed the sound, I spent a while riffling through Epedemic for all sorts.

I never ran into ghosts, do they only appear if I don't have a candle lit?

Developer

They do. There was a bug in testing that if you kept lighting the holders they would keep moving away from that area, but I had thought I’d fixed it. Lighting everything is an achievement.

I'll give it another go then :)

Amazing game! Had a blast playing it, and the tension was great! Opening drawers was a bit difficult without highlights for interactable objects, so consider adding that in a future update.

Developer(+1)

I kept thinking about it and binging it to scroll when looking at one then made the item bar scrollable instead. Unsure if I then removed the item scroll to make the draw change after, lol.
thanks for playing and I’m glad you enjoyed!

Credit where it is due, the UI design is very clean and well-made. However, the core loop is just walking around a room grabbing objects, which quickly becomes tedious. I lost interest and quit during the tutorial because there was no compelling hook. Adding genuine mechanics or stakes would go a long way.

Developer

Thank you for the play.

I added achievements and there is the tasks board. There are also puzzles in the mansions you can try to complete. The Objectives note you get at the end of the tutorial tells you all of that, and it can be re-read from above the shop boxes if you need a refresher.

You can also try with friends in co-op. There should be voip, but I also wasn’t able to test it with someone so I don’t know how it’d go.

thanks again.

Developer

sorry I also just realised.

That room you start in is your hideout and the tutorial is pretty quick. I hope you give it another try and use the stairs at theme of the tire and explore all the mansions :)

I love to scrounge in a game, so you had me there. The ghost noises and chase music was legit scary for me, so I didn't spend too long in the house at a time, choosing instead to run into a room, grab what I could and leave. You set a nice scene, it was spooky for sure. I had some trouble re-equipping candles once my first one went out, even though I had a lot in my inventory. Not sure what I was doing wrong. Well done!

Developer

Thanks a tone. I was going for a spooky extraction like game. I'm hopeful some people will try the Co-Op. You get to choose a "disguise" that has a silly animation for hiding and crouching.

Thanks again and glad you enjoyed!

Ps. There are some other scary features and jump scares :)
