I love the screen effects you're applying, especially the CRT corners and chromatic aberration. I don't see many games apply that but it's pretty convincing. I did have some trouble playing since the mouse wasn't getting captured by the game in the web export but what I was able to play was very unsettling. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing.
I think the crt vhs filter is a bit heavy for web version, I will improve on it in later games.

Nice game, though I had a very hard time turning around, because the mouse sensitivity was so low. I had to exit full screen, then drag the cursor clockwise to turn right and counterclockwise to turn left in order to do so.

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry about mouse sensitivity, I thought low sensi would be ideal for horror games but I don't think it's comfortable for everyone like you said . I will provide settings for mouse sensitivity in my upcoming games.

Thanks for playing and providing feedback.

Yeah, that was great.

I was a little paranoid because I kept expecting monsters to show up. But it turned out to be just a relaxing little walk. And thank goodness for that! I don't think I could have handled any more scares today.
I absolutely love the art style of the textures, especially the trees at the very beginning. You know what I would've done in your shoes? I'd deliberately add a few extra mechanics just to throw players off. Make them think something horrible is waiting for them, then subvert their expectations. Because I soon realized this was basically a walking simulator, and there would be absolutely no way to escape a monster if there actually was one. Still, I kept waiting for a jumpscare right up until the very end. Thank you for sparing me one!
Making a game feel scary without actually doing anything frightening is pretty awesome. I hope you make some amazing projects in the future!

Yeah , I should have tried to tell the lore via notes or in game rather than only mentioning it in the description.

I know about character navigations but I couldn't add any entity bc I already had a story in mind and didn't want to break its logic. Maybe it made this game a walking simulator, sorry about that I should have tried something but I had no idea what to do. I will do better next time.

Any thanks for playing and providing feedback for my game.

Very atmospheric and creepy! Probably could have had the default speed be the run speed since I ended up holding the run button the entire time!

There was actually uses for walking and Crouch (C- most people ignored it) but I didn't had time for it. Maybe next time.

Thanks for playing and providing feedback

love the vibes!
player's inner monologue was disappearing too fast; I wasn't able to read the thoughts about blue light and something childish in time...

Developer(+1)

Thank for playing and giving feedback. I didn't thought it was short that players would be unable to read, I will improve it in future games.

I liked the atmosphere; perhaps if the notes included some lore or little drawings, it would be much more interesting.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I probably should have tried a making a cutscene or maybe a note in forest that which explained why the player was in forest(althought I mentioned it in description) or who is/are communicating with player and had placed those notes in the backrooms region where the player was no clipped to(I didn't had the time to do it cus I'm new to gamedev and jams).
And thanks for checking my game and providing feedback(didn't expected so many of you kind people would test my first game which looks like a complete garbage)

Nice entry! Just as a side note (no pun intended :P) i was able to complete the game by just collecting the last note ignoring the rest :D

Developer

Thanks for playing my first game and  you completed the game just by the last note XD . I will see if I can remove the bug or not - Thanks brother for mentioning it.

Cool ambience! kinda shame that most of the notes didint have any text.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I also thought of adding text to collectable notes but then a question came to my head related to lore, the player is getting rewarded for collecting notes that backrooms experts need the those must be valuable and most likely unreadable .

Developer(+1)

And thanks for playing my first game.

The aesthetics were great and the ambience was nice! Quick yet fun game experience overall!

Thanks!!
