The Exorcist is the gift that keeps on giving... Now if only it didn't gave us sequels, but nothing perfect.

I'm happy to report that I'm running at full speed again, my CPU is also considerably less taxed.

In alternative, giving the option to turn in all tallies the player is eligible for would cut down on meaningless repetition.

I'm fairly sure that option is related to combat that happens in transit.

Beast should probably get its own tab anyway, since it doesn't quite make sense to shove it inside Wilderness, though making the dual form section collapsible would be nice.

It appears that there was a slight degradation in performance again (from around x3000 to x2600), which suggest that some unrelated stuff is being calculated when it doesn't need to be.

I'm sending by email a Firefox profiler capture of around 1000y of fights in the wilderness together with the related save, hopefully that helps with finding out what the bottleneck is, unfortunately I couldn't parse it much myself.

Note that the profiler caused an additional overhead, which brought it down to x2000 during the recording.

One thing that is curious is that around the 10sec marker, which is around when the performance starts to degrade, the Parent Process memory is unloaded; The most likely problem that I can see is the DOM Worker getting overwhelmed by repeated calls during high speeds, but I have honestly no real idea how to optimize something like that.

"Surly I'll be done in five minutes," feels very familiar, I feel your pain.

Happy Brithday.

Iirc that's the last thing.

You can get some extra scenes entering the town at higher core level later on, but as far as I know it is not tied to action taken there directly.

Yep, fairly rare, stacking item discovery bonuses can help a bit (mostly from Light related stuff).

I think I mentioned it already in one of the reports, but one big repeating pattern I keep noticing is "X, not Y", which is kinda everywhere.

Bug?:

Noticed a string of warnings in the console when clicking "Run Game", not sure they are actually messing with anything, but might be worth looking into it.

There does seems to be something throttling the game, checked the CPU usage and it barely reaches 10% utilization while running fights; In theory I should still have room to pump up the numbers, but the game just doesn't.

Most curiously, it does actually run at full speed for a few second, before settling back into x3000 (Act 2 fights go up to x4000).

Max form as in the rank up version of the job, or actual rank threshold that makes them disappear from that list?

Is it plausible to implement an optional and/or fallback "fuzzy" calculations mode?

Instead of actually calculating each tick and their effects sequentially, calculate one tick effect multiplied by the speed; It would be a fair bit more imprecise as change in states would be calculated after the block of time, but it might be an idea to speed up the game on lower hardware.

Not sure if it is even possible with the current game structure though, or even if it is more efficient than the current solution.

Also, game appears to be missing in action.

Edit: Game was uploaded as downloadable instead of for webplay, Save Recovery Tool is missing; Sadly the downloadable version doesn't work. orz

There was a degradation in performance in those last few updates, I was able to run fights at full speed and now I can't anymore.

That said, if you are getting slowdowns elsewhere, then it might actually be hardware, as fights seems to be the only part affected after the fixes.

Bug:

The Tenvein Spine weapon was added to the save in the Lower Realm, but not in the one still in Act 1, replaying the Milestone does note the weapon should have been awarded.

Edit: Reopening the game appears to have fixed it, most likely the old save recovery/update didn't kick in properly when I loaded it the first time; If necessary I still got the save file that caused the bug when loading it.

Are the Wildbrook/Cave/Harmonized Settlement actions ever going to max out or I'm I doomed to have them all in the Mastery section taunting me with endless levels?

Soul Forging Feedback:

System is nice if a bit limited in actual use, but is cumbersome to use, here a few suggestion to smooth it out a bit:

A separate tab dedicated to Soul Forging would be nice.

Allowing clicking on the equipped item to open the stat spread would be nice since the list is a bit messy and unsorted.

Separating the shapes by slot would allow easier navigation.

Would be nice to have the stat spread recorded (silders already at the current tuning) when opening a shape.

Allowing to re/forge a shape without dissolving what was on the same slot first would be nice (allowing to reuse stats committed to that slot should work to sidestep the potential commitment problems), and would allow for smoother tuning.

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core @ 3.60GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • Browser: Firefox 153.0.3 (64-bit)

While on fights in the Lower Realm (didn't test in Act1) I'm getting a few seconds of full x5000, then it throttles to x2700, uses the Dedicated Worker all the time.

Other activities seems to run at full speed.

Bugs:

Force Tampering is reported a tad too precisely.

If a fight triggers it auto switch tabs to the relevant page, which makes it near impossible to navigate the UI, especially at high speeds.

Familiarity in Willbrook will unlock some bonuses when maxed, in towns it usually unlocks scenes, though the game does not tell you when you have unlocked them all (unless things changed since I played those parts).

Random as far as I know.

There is a boss on the All-Ten Wilderness that can appear if you land in the balanced version, it is an one off encounter with a scene, but it has no consequence or gain from it yet as far as I know.

If you are going for the completed bestiary entries you'll probably encounter it while doing that.

(1 edit)

Ah, sorry for the confusion.
The game should save the route when you switch Wilderness and the next reincarnation should drop you in your last visited one, if it doesn't the bug popped up again.

If you learn a route by spending ten years in a Wilederness (type, depth doesn't matter) you can then reach it by traveling Wilderness to Wilderness at the bottom of the page.

Imo it is a good idea to do that first before starting to farm.

Bugs:

Edit5: "Comparative Lower-Realm Physiology" is not among the Lifespan increasing Mastery records.

Edit4: In "The Common Grounds", the entries under the "Streets, Workshops and Rooms" section each mention three incidents, clicking on them only show the same scene every time even though all three get marked as complete.

Suggestion:

Edit3: After finishing the No-Banner Quarter observation the sticker "Her life here is genuinely better" has the description "People can improve their lives here without sharing the protagonist’s assumption that the natural alternative is to belong to nobody.", instead of "protagonist's" it might be better to use "your" for less fourth wall breaking.

Bugs:

Edit: Since the update Soul Forging can't be finalized anymore. Edit2: Apparently it can't be finalized when Cultivating Miasma.

In Soul Forging,  Compression efficiency uses "percentage points" instead of "%" like the rest of the values.

Bugs:

Edit: In Black Weir, the "Work the Black Weir" action cannot be interrupted, also happens to Crooked Span's "Study the Crooked Span".

Record Filter works partially, the "Hide completed" checkmark works (though fails to hide some of the sections while hiding the entries themselves), the individual checkmarks do nothing.

Imperial City resurrection checkpoint is probably best unlocked when getting to the Outer City the first time, at that point you are going to the City a lot and there is not much to do on the Harmonized, Dual Towns, or Paragon Outposts.

Bugs:

Edit: The Equipment interface warning from Act 2 overlaps with the equip list.

In the "You Come Back" scene the phrase "At first the Emperor becomes easier, not harder." seems incomplete, from context it probably should be "the Emperor's expression", the "not harder" is also unnecessary.

Bug:

Edit: Milestone "Wilderness Appointment" gets recorded multiple times.

Suggestions:

Reincarnate UI button would be nice to have at all times instead of only the Wilderness, would also be nice if it had an option to bring up the reincarnation prompt instead of using the Default Life behavior.

Top header is getting a bit crowded and occupies more vertical space than necessary, shifting some things around to create more space might be nice. Example:

I'm now getting the full x5000 speed, before the update I was getting around x2000 effective speed, tested in both Imperial Core and All-Ten Wilderness.

Running AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (3.60 GHz), Windows 10, Firefox 153.0.3, Hardware Acceleration is enabled.

Inconsistency:

Edit2: The Palace Qi Wells description mentions "The Tenfold Sojourn records now give you a reason to look beyond civilized cultivation for the elemental side of the problem.", but even Wandering in the Scarred Confluence version of the All-Ten Wilderness provides a significantly slower Affinity gain than cultivating in the  Heaven-Bearing Cultivation Grounds.

Omission:

Edit: Defeating the Tenvein Colossus has no Milestone attached to it, given the big deal the Bestiary entry makes it to be it probably should have one, and/or a scene to go with it.

Bugs:

Saved Route doesn't record the action taken at destination anymore, at least in the All-Ten Wilderness, didn't test in other places.

Zenith Vital Continuance training is not in the Mastery Records, neither is the comparative studies.

(4 edits)

Bugs:

Edit3: Deep Dual Wilderness "Current frontier" description is the one from the Outer Dual Wilderness.

Edit2: Heaven-Bearing Vital Continuance is not listed under Mastery among the other lifespan giving trainings; For that matter both the Great Archive and Elemental War Academy trainings are not listed either.

Suggestion:

Edit: A Record page for the Beast might be appropriate, since right now that info is shoved on the bottom of the Wilderness page.

Inconsistency:

In the Qi Collection Relay description is "At Law-Bearing Core, approved Living Core through Integrated Core crews continue construction at 30% while you are elsewhere. Returning to Works and adding your own Law-Bearing Core restores the full construction rate.", this is not future proofed for future breakthroughs, rewording it with "Starting at Law-Bearing", and "adding your own Core" would make it more universal. (provided we are still going to have a Core later on)

(3 edits)

Bugs:

Edit: In Elemental War Academy using the Controlled Intervention training option causes the current action to be listed as "Unknown Action", didn't test the other training options.

When entering the Hall of the Zenith the event "Paragon Jian Ruo Returns at Zenith" plays out describing Jian Ruo making a breakthrough to Zenith, returning to Vermilion Crucible still identify him as Heaven-Bearing, even during the same life.

Some imperial citizen must be quite confused by my MC.
Arrives in the city as a Law-Bearing 20 years old built like a brickhouse, drops by the Trade Guild and casually gives 120 documents about routes that happen to check out as correct and picks up retroactively accumulating pay from them, goes into the Inner City and casually directs a 300 years project into completion in 50 years, then plops himself into the Qi reservoir and during the course of the next 200 years makes 10 breakthroughs and directly ascends to Heaven-Bearing.

My MC gone a long way from taking hundreds of years to learn the right way to hold a hoe.

Bug:

Returning to a Settlement other than the Harmonized Settlement locks you out of going anywhere else.
Not sure if they make sense to still be available in the first place with the narrative changes, didn't review them.

(1 edit)

Bugs:

Saved Route no longer updates when going from one Wilderness to another.

Despite all Wilderness still being selectable in the Wilderness to Wilderness selections, Known Routes selection list has been reset.

There is a downloadable version? O.o

(1 edit)

Suggestion:

It might be clearer to rename/change the reincarnation pop up from "Reincarnate from Default" to "Saved Route" as the other two buttons already cover the other options.

Would be nice if it also listed what the Saved Route is, which should be simple enough as the game already has a string for it in the options menu.

(1 edit)

Bug:

"Start new incarnations paused" option reset the speed to x1 when unpaused despite claiming it preserves the speed.

Sidenote, the two options are not necessarily contradictory, one keeps the selected speed, the other temporarily pauses the game; The two effects combined would keep the selected speed after reincarnation, but temporarily pause the game.

As far as I know each Core stage removes some time from the baseline, at Stage 7 you start at Age 24.
