How does the game fit the theme?
There are more than one pellets in this Snake clone game, but only one is real and the rest are mines. The fake one will sometimes let out beeping sound and brief highlight.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Aside from fonts from Google Fonts ("Tomorrow" is what used in the project), The code came from snake clone prototype I've made in March, where I experiment with grid-based movement and pseudo "game framework" workflow. What I iterate from original source is the game mechanic that meets the theme.

How many people worked on the game?

Developer

Thanks for playing my my simple game! :D

A simple game, but it's hard to get snake wrong. I'm generally enjoying a lot of the new takes on classic titles from this jam, and this one in particular was pretty addicting, specially as you have to focus on both navigating the snake and dodge all of the pellets until you know the correct one. I wish it had a way to track the score.

Developer

Thanks for trying my simple game! I’m glad you enjoyed it :D

As for scoring, I thought I have less time to implement it in a short time, yet I have in my design draft. Will add the scoring and more stuff in the future if anyone interested.

Cool twist on snake. I really like how it forces the player to multitask while still not crashing. I think that you could add a hard mode where the player crashes into the edges of the screen like in the classic to emphasize multitasking as it would stop them from just moving in one direction while they watch the dots, but that's just me. Overall great submission!

Developer

Thanks! I planned to add more levels (including the boxed one where you can’t pass through the screen) and also other things if there’s interest in this project or in case if I want to. To be frank, this game is pretty easy, or perhaps that’s what I think after countless playtests for fun factor. :)

I did not get how to tell where is the real pellet at first and was a bit frustrated, but once they started pinging it flipped the entire game for me! I really like this twist on snake game. The only issue, mines could appear right in from of you after you eat a pellet. A great jam entry overall!

Developer

Thanks for trying my little game! Having identical fake pellets that only way to know is waiting is pretty much a thematic design. Glad it worked well :P

Though, I’m agree with the fake pellet spawning issue. Will tweak it in the future if there’s any interest in this game.

I always think it's awesome when devs take an idea from an established game and build a new mechanic around it. And I think it works really well, especially the way you did it.

Maybe the ball you're not supposed to catch should have been a bit more obvious. But I had a lot of fun playing it.

Congrats on the work.

Developer

Thank you! I’m glad you tried my game. Since you suggested the the pellet balls should be a bit more obvious, that means it just do the thematic job very well ;)

This was a really good idea that makes snake alot more interesting. My only complaint is that at least for me, I can't tell the highlight and regular pellet color apart. I don't know if that was the intention or if I need to get my eyes checked. For a second there, I thought the beeping noise was my snake detecting invisible pellets that I either had to find or avoid. You did a good job on this and I also found it neat that you committed to a dev log when developing this. Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks for trying my game! Glad you’ve enjoyed it :D

It was by design that the only fake pallets that flash red while producing beeping sound. Highlighting the real one may be probably easy, but I think it’s worth a try!

Fun game and a classic concept! Had that arcade feel to it with the sound effects and the game ramped up in difficulty. Being able to toggle the music on/off was nice too. Feedback I have for it is that it would have been nice to have the score on the UI as some visual feedback. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for trying my game and your feedback! I had planned to include some sort of UI like scoring system that never make it in this jam. Would be added in the future if there’s any interests.

Pretty cool concept. I think you could expand on this a decent amount

Developer

I wish I could expand it when I had more time, like scoring and level progressions. Anyway, thank you for giving my game a go! <3

interesting concept actually. when you have to wait before you eat things. music was nice and game was pretty straightfoward with logical theme part and gameplay.

Developer

Good to see you’ve learned the game’s gimmicks. I was afraid that the players won’t get it after playing it for a while. Thanks for your feedback!

A fun little game. The difficulty really ramps up as the length of your snake and the amount of mines increase.

Developer

Glad you’ve noticed my difficulty scaling system. Thanks for playing my little game! <3

liked that it has no walls .  A fun mechanic to add to the classic and unforgettable snake!

Developer

Well, I was thinking of using box level, but I decided to go no walls instead. Glad you like it!
