Description
Genre: Sludge metal, Shoegaze

Message from the artist
Think of a really cool hack and slash RPG that your big brother like to play, the obscured one, and there's a song that's so lit.

Theme

Songs of a Forgotten World
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The forgotten world giving me fantasy vibes, so I think about doom metal stuffs and shoegaze is a very underrated genre for video game music imo.

This is probably one of the genres I least expected for the picture theme.

We’re reviving dark fantasy with this one *fire emoji*

not at all what i was expecting, it sounds like DIIV mixed with electric wizard. this is cool as shit

Developer

That was I'm trying to do lol

Metal is admittedly the genre I have the least knowledge about so I have no clue how to give any criticisms. Maybe it can feel a bit slow at times when compared to how intense the drums and guitar seem to want to be.

I liked the buildup that happened about 2/3rds in though that was a really neat section.

great vegetables.

(i'd say it could use some bass/sub bass though)

really cool submission! i really like the vibe you've built with just one track. i do wish i could've heard more, similar to what beepo said. but - i do quite enjoy what you've given us, it's very well made! yum this is fire thanks for sharing

Awesome tone! Very gnarly. What scene were you thinking of when composing this? I love it as a song but would like to know where in a game it would fit.

Developer

I think it's like in the first boss fight scene. The first boss fight always has a cool song lol.

Awesome to see a different take on the theme :)
Wish there were more songs to get an idea of what kind of story you had in mind.

Hey metal! I haven't been in the metal listening routine for some time so I don't know how much weight my comments hold. The mix sounded solid to me though, something I am guessing metal can create a challenge in. I think you created a vibe and I felt that metal drag, reminds me of 90s metal. I would have like to heard a bit more rhythmic variation in the first half. The 2 contrasting sections both had a straight ticking eighth note feel to my ears. Even just adding some hammer ons/pull offs or slides at the end of a phrase to throw of bit of variety in there might help to give the song more of your signature on it. But as I said I am not well versed in this genre, especially sludge metal.  Thanks for creating and sharing!

Nice submission ! Maybe make the connections to the theme clearer ? Obviously you don't need any advice from a synth guy on the guitar and bass part, maybe just humanize the drums more.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment! Im looking for a new drum plugin right now lmao.

Modo Drums with some mixing tricks can make wonders

I love it! It's intense and really dirty (in a good way!), and I love the chaos that comes through the whole time. It's full of great ideas and distortion: I really enjoyed it!

The intensity is definitely fit for a slasher RPG as you suggested! I am not very familiar with the genre, but I imagine that finding a balance between overdrive intensity of the guitars is challenging to balance with impact and weight of the drums. I felt that your balance was quite good in that respect! I wonder if a section of double time might have given a nice contrast to the slow and forceful tempo - maybe something to consider when writing more music in this style. Good work on this and thank you for sharing your music!

that was metal alright 🤘 🤘 i like the composition here + the breakdown on the second half of the track! though i also think it may be even cooler if you make some sort of build-up on the latter half to make the track even more intense for that heavy feel rather than ending on a fade out! nevertheless this was a fun listen, awesome job!! :))

Developer(+1)

Appreciate it man! I genuinely don't know how to end the song so I'm just fade it lol.
