How does your game fit the theme?
Sunrise is coming, but Count Dracula stayed up too late, and is still at the top of his tower! Descend as far down as you can to get to your coffin at the bottom while dodging enemies and escaping the ever-encroaching sun.

(Optional) Please credit all assets you've used
The tune that plays when you die is a version of Toccata and Fugue in D minor that I re-created in Pico 8.

The only pre-existing asset I used was the code for basic 2D platforming from a scrapped project I started a few months ago.

All code, art, sounds, and other assets were created by me inside of Pico 8, without the use of generative AI.

Huh!? A secret Pico-8 game I havent played + rated yet?!? Classic formla and well executed, the little bite animation is so cool, so are the markings on the walls (remind me of animal wells markings) I wish I found some of the easter eggs, and my score was ~55 floor. Love seeing others using pico 8 too, well done!

Thanks for the feedback! If I remember correctly, there’s about a 1 in 5 chance of the sun having the Majora’s Mask moon face, and a 1 in 10 chance of the 2022 blue lobster jumpscare meme appearing when you die. I’m glad you enjoyed!

ANOTHER FELLOW DRACULA ENJOYER I SEE! music and art are great and to make it in pico-8 is an achievement, I've heard its a very hard engine to learn. Great job!

Thanks for the feedback! Pico 8 is actually pretty easy to pick up for making smaller games fairly quickly, but it’s very difficult to master and make bigger projects inside of it due to its simplicity and limitations. I’ve grown to love it though!

Yaaay, this brought memories of those old mobile games... I mean, before android eve, playing on the old nokia. Great fun and funny take on the theme. Loved it.

Also, love to see a pico 8 entry here. Amazing!

This game is  plain Arcady fun! I love the core mechanics and got into a rhythm with them very quickly. It is a super cute concept and a well done polished execution! Well done!

The background music is incredibly catchy, and the fast-paced rhythm makes the game feel really exciting!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you liked the music, it’s usually the worst aspect of a lot of my games, but I’ve actually been getting pretty good, at least compared to the first time I made music for a game.

Even so, I probably could’ve and/or should’ve made the loop longer, but the short loop it has now is pretty catchy like you said.

The sun is a deadly laser

Fun little game! Astonishingly readable despite how small everything is, and the brief 4th-wall break at the beginning was funny. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Not anymore there’s a blanket!

Thanks for the feedback! My playtesters kept not reading the instructions on the walls, so I needed a way to remind the player about them, and the fourth wall break seemed like an obvious (and pretty funny) choice.

Good fun! Also really great job with the tiny sprites, that’s not many pixels to make something readable.

Thanks for the feedback! Pico 8’s limitations really are both a blessing and a curse (but I think the blessings usually outweigh the curses in most situations!)

What a wonderful night to have a curse!

Developer

It truly is.

Managed to make it 53 floors, it's a fun little dracula infinite runner, absolutely a great day to have a curse!

Thanks! Happy you liked it!

HERE COMES THE SUN!!!
A good short game
The music is a bit repetitive but I also have no clue how much pico-8 can do sound wise.

My best score was 51 floors. How damn tall did the ghouls build this tower?? :P

Developer(+1)

I'll admit, I'm not the best at making music and I probably should've extended the loop by a bit. Glad you liked it though
