Couldn't rate it but it was an amazing game anyway!

Developer

I'm glad you played and enjoyed the game overall! Thanks for the feedback too!

Rather cool and epic game must say. Concept and idea wise, it was GREAT. Love the artstyle too :D (its a lil creepy at 4 am in the morning tho but you nailed the vibe!)

Movement options were great too. But some of the pixel perfect jumps + the needing to push into the wall to wall jump did make the movement feel somewhat finicky and more frustating in some levels. Which does take a star off my enjoyment sadly 😔. Also spike hitboxes did feel slightly off in some places.

LOVE the reorientation mechanism tho. Wouldve been cool if you did like a maze-like puzzle instead of the evil pick-a-path at the end xD But great game overall!

Developer

The pick a path part was really bad from my part, and for that I'm sorry. Didn't quite had the time to think on the more puzzle parts I wanted/invisioned with the mechanic, but I'll be back on this idea soon!
Thanks for playing and enjoying the game, regardless!

Wow, amazing game!

It was perfect lengthwise and difficulty was just enough.

I think the idea and mechanics are well executed.

Art is stunning.

My only suggestion would be to add some more friction to walls when sliding.

Other than that, a really nice game :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! And thanks for the suggestion, I'll fix the Walljump regardless, so it's great seeing other peoples suggestion on how to do it.

Really liked the art style and the compass was a good twist to the platforming. Overall good work! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed my game!

I really enjoyed the game overall! You really cooked with the style(even in the itch page), but the last level is AWFUL lol. One of it's obstacles is this wall jump with spikes at the bottom that is stupid precise, and the okay-ish walljump doesn't help it's case, and that is litterally followed by pick-a-path, where if you pick the path on the right you just die, just a guess game. Overall good submission, but it left a bitter taste in the end

Developer(+1)

Sorry about the last level. Gonna try to fix some stuff with the jam version and maybe finish the game with some other stuff?

Such a solid style in this entry! I especially like the layout of your game's itch page. The player character is so cute..

Unfortunately, I got stuck at the same jump that many others seem to have been defeated by, but this game has a lot of promise. Great work!

Developer

Thanks! I hope to make a more playable/passeabke version after the jam. Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it.

A little hard but cool mechanics!

Submitted(+1)

Very clever concept

Submitted(+1)

I loved the artstyle but like the previous comment mentioned, I also struggled at that particular wall jump but even after that I kept on randomly dying. (maybe i didnt understood the distance and compass mechanism)

But cool game regardless.

Developer

Yeah, after the jam, I'll try to enhance the mechanic and make the platforming better in general. But thanks for leaving some feedback and glad you enjoyed the rest!

Nice platformer! Good art and sounds, but this moment was too hard for me:

Developer (2 edits)

Skill iss... Nah I'm just kidding, yeah... I have  to fix those inconsistencies that make this jump hard as bricks. But glad you enjoyed the rest regardless! Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Missing the wall jump coyote time does make the 50/50 guesses a bit frustrating when you have to redo everything.

The distance count down is quite a unique take on the theme, great idea!

Developer

Yeah, gonna add a walljump buffer surely, but I happy you liked the mechanic of the game!

Submitted(+1)

It was quite challenging but fun! Maybe a bit too punishing for my taste, but that does not take away the polish it has from feeling like a complete game with the prologue and everything slowly introduced! Really cool! :3

Developer(+1)

It is pretty hard, but I glad you liked it regardless.  Gonna try to finish some of the jank after the jam is over

Submitted(+1)

Awesome, unique concept for a platformer. I'm so glad red boy made it out safe 😢😢

Developer

We'd all protect red boy. Thanks for playing it on stream and glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

That was nice, the main idea is cool and the art is pleasant, I think the prologue was longer than needed and I would have liked it if the main difficulty was focused more on the compass idea rather than pure platforming, also I think the level design could be better, but overall really good for a jam game I would say, probably the most enjoyable one I have played so far

Developer

Yeah, I kinda ran out of time to plan some actual puzzles and puzzle mechanics for the compass mechanic, so I leaned more into the platforming side of the game. But I glad you still enjoyed the game overall!

Submitted(+1)

Really creative central mechanic, it's a cool mix of floor-is-lava platforming and more thinky navigational puzzle solving!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it!

The controls felt pretty well tuned but boy is this game hard, I think I died 10+ times on the tutorial. Maybe you could've scaled down the gravity a bit if someone dies too much :) The aesthetic and vibes are very polished, I liked being in this world for a bit :)

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it. Since the game is short and the mechanics are not that hard to get a hold on, the high difficulty was someting that came naturally ;)

Submitted(+1)

Love the environment and the pixel art. Very great. It really helps elevate the aesthetic. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked it!

art design is top notch. I like the minimal color with the red as highlight for spikes and character. The pixel art is also really cool. The platforming part need a bit fine tuning (e.g. I think the wall jump is to low and the max fall speed is to high, but that could also be just me). But it is really solid for a 4 day jam!
I like the idea of the compass but personally I find the overlay little bit distracting.
Overall really cool game, keep up the good work :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Was really proud of the pixel art and the overlay I thought it could be cool, like a meta-narrative layer to the game as you are the Player guiding but not being the character, but I can see it being kind of a hassle.

And yeah, platforming is not my forte, but hopefully I'll get better at it. But I glad you enjoyed the game overall!

Fun game! I like the art, its very cohesive and just generally looks nice. Solid game for sure

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!

Firstly, this game is beautiful and sounds beautiful. I enjoy the deadlock level of movement, however I genuinely cannot get pass the tutorial, the wall jump feels a bit off? Maybe it's a skill issue on my part. Also, I think binding jump to Z is kinda unintuitive, and the box colliders are very unforgiving.

update: saw the rest of the game, turns out the walljumps is purposeful! This game was sent from the pits of hell to make me crash out 102023098423974928374 times. Good job you evil, evil, evil devs.

Developer(+1)

Hahaha! Glad you liked the game after revisiting it!I knew the movement was a little phinicky, especially with the wall jump, so I tried to make the most out of it on the levels.

Maybe I should have added a death counter at the end of the game but, oh well, maybe next time.
