This is a very atmospheric game with some really great effects! It definitely captures the liminal feeling of the backrooms. Great work with this game!

A very atmospheric and tense game. The Backrooms-inspired setting works really well, and the visual and audio presentation do a great job of keeping the player immersed and slightly uncomfortable throughout the experience. I really enjoyed exploring the spaces and the constant feeling of tension.

The main thing I felt was missing was a stronger narrative element. I understand that this kind of experience may be more focused on atmosphere and exploration than on a clear story, but some additional context or mystery to uncover would have made the journey more engaging for me.

I also think the jam theme is integrated rather simply. The countdown mostly works as a timer that switches between the two areas, rather than being deeply connected to the gameplay.

Still, in terms of atmosphere, visuals, audio, and overall enjoyment, the project is very strong. I had a great time exploring it.

Hey thank you for your detailed feedback, we really appreciate it! We do agree that narrative and player focused mechanics were missing, due to the deadline we had to scrap a lot of features that we wanted to have implemented, causing the over all experience to be simpler than our initial design.

This is something we would love to continue working on and create a solid gameplay loop for the player to enjoy!

I'm a big fan of liminal spaces so I was super glad this game appeared to me! The concept is pretty simple, its backrooms on a timer, but the sheer amount of work that you put into this game is incredible. This place is gigantic, I got absolutely lost in it. The vibes are immaculate, you really nailed the backrooms. Art and sound pretty spot on. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you so much, glad that you enjoyed it!

Very immersive gameplay and concepts :)

Developer

Thank you!

Super atmospheric! I love the Backrooms aesthetic — you should definitely dive into more underutilized levels. That’d make your take on the genre totally stand out!

Developer

Thank you! A 100% we would love to explore all levels, each with their own mechanics maybe? Endless possibilities!

the ambience, audio, and visual style are all on point, and the level design manages to feel very trippy and confusing without actually making it impossible to find what you're looking for. I would've liked a few more things to interact with but that might have taken away from the whole "backrooms" feeling. Awesome work, congrats to the whole team on your submission :)

Developer

Thank you so much for your review! We do agree that there needs to be more for the player to interact with without taking away from the fantasy. Something to think about after the Jam! :)

Cool idea! I think you should try to develop this further after the event :D

Developer

Thank you, we plan to do that!

Following the voices through liminal spaces had a really cool feeling, the shader effects you used also really complement the setting. The second level has a cool sense of monumentality to it and the layer switching mechanic is a nice take on the countdown theme. One thing I would add is to make the visual effects stronger in the last 20 seconds or so of the countdown to build a bit more tension. You could even make the countdown totally diegetic by just making the visual effects gradually stronger until you can't see anymore which is when you switch.

Developer

Thank you for playing, that is a really cool idea, will keep that in mind when continuing development after the jam, thanks!

Excellent audio design! Felt very creepy

Developer

Thank you!

Does the game work on windows? I can't seem to be able todonwload it

Developer (1 edit)

Hi, yeah the build should work on Windows! Are you unable to install it through Itch?

Submitted

Yes, i don't know what is going on

Developer

Are you on Windows 11?

Submitted

Not on windos 11

Developer

Ah, that might be the problem, will look deeper into after the Jam, I assumed Unity would make it work for all Windows platforms.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the visuals a lot! Well done!

Developer

Thank you!

the music and sfx are really nice here, but i wish you had worked on the lighting/post processing effects more. i once noclipped to the backrooms and it looked a little different there

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I agree, especially with the lighting, navigating Unity’s Global Illumination platform was a hassle to say the least haha, definitely something we want to build upon, also to create more consistency between the levels!

It took me a bit to find the exit and figure things out, but I quite liked it! The shader/filter effect was quite good and the atmosphere was pretty unnerving. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

Very atmospheric and spooky. I found a lot of men but no exit :(

Developer

Yeah the exits are quite obscure, something we plan to fix post-game jam!

Submitted(+1)

Very beautiful game and the atmosphere is superb, love it! The depth of field obscuring things in the distance also adds to the tension and mysterious nature of it. :D I couldn't find all 3 sadly but I'll give it another go later - good job!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

You quite nailed the atmosphere, well done! Definitely more creepy than some crappy backrooms steam games. Also, there was a lot to see despite it being the backrooms. I couldn't find the exit tho and got lost forever :(

Developer

Thank you! Yeah the exit can be quite hard to find, in the Backrooms there was a small hint to where it might’ve been

Submitted(+1)

oh man i love it way more than what i did! it's so much more creepier and the atmosphere is so oppressive! I LOVE IT!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words, we put a lot of effort into the atmosphere and sound design of the game glad it payed off!

Submitted(+1)

of course!

you should totally make it a full release game! I'll be there to buy it! 😁

Submitted(+1)

Really nice use of audio and lighting affects in order to create that liminal/creepy atmosphere. I don't know if there's a monster but I was definitely turning my camera and scanning everywhere lol.

Developer

Haha, that’s awesome to hear, thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

the frequent level switching really adds to the disorienting feel of the backrooms, took me a long time to beat but the sound design and visual effects made it super atmospheric the whole time. I actually watched the backrooms movie for the first time last week, so i picked up on a few references here and there. I like the subtle camera movements as you walk, and the use of spatial audio to help locate the cutouts. I noticed there’s a crouch, not sure what use it has, but perhaps it could allow the player to crawl through narrow spaces like in the movie. kinda glad there was no monster, I think the backrooms’ strongest attribute has always been that liminal surreal vibe, which this game nails.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing, glad you enjoyed it, we put a lot of effort into the atmosphere, visuals and sound design. We had a crouch and a slide, but at some point we had to make a hard decision to scrap it. Who knows maybe we will continue development after the jam!

Submitted(+1)

This is very cool. The atmosphere was excellent, I felt so uneasy because of the sound design and clever use of post processing and lens effects.

Developer

Thank you so much!
