I actually really enjoyed this one! I'm sure plenty of people have drawn the connection to keep talking and nobody explodes, but I think this was an interesting way of making that game singleplayer!! I really liked trying to extrapolate meanings from as few words as possible. I do think that the shop should probably show your currency before you buy stuff, not just when it decreases your money, since I didn't know what I could afford lol. I can see a lot of ways this game could be expanded to have more mechanics, more complex instructions, maybe smaller puzzles within the game, all sorts of potential. I also think that maybe an easier mode or something where the bomb blowing up could just take away some money so the punishment wasn't quite as harsh could be a nice addition. Regardless, I really liked this game. Very clean, clear gameplay loop, felt nice to play, and fit the theme well. Great work!
Thank you so much for the feedback! Unfortunatly the money not showing was something that broke at some point and I didnt realize it did till release XD
The game reminded me a lot of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and hence the core gameplay loop is a lot of fun! I would like to see a word bank/dictionary so you can more easily attempt to logic out what the missing word could be if it is not in your list. The art style is also fairly well done! I did struggle a bit with the switch positions in that in my mind [1/I] being raised meant that is was on, though that is much more of a me thing since the pushed down option on these types of switches is the active one. Audio design was solid and provided good feedback! I also think it would be better for the "Pick a word to remember" screen to not contain duplicate/already selected words, especially so early on in the game. The Shop Screen should probably also show you how much money you actually have.
Outside of that, more different types of modules would give the game more replayability, with instructions that keep getting more complicated in terms of how they are written to make longer runs more enjoyable, though obviously that is a lot of scope for a 4 day project. Overall I really enjoyed it, it is a very well executed design!
Thank you so much for the in depth feedback!
I like the way it forces you to think quickly; it was very enjoyable! It has a lot of different components, which is always impressive for a jam! I also like the shop and consumables, and the time penalty for taking more clues, which add a lot of depth to the game and force you to plan. If I were to give feedback, I think the game is a bit too punishing when you guess (as you will lose your entire run), while it's easy to get into a situation where you don't have all the clues if you run out of time. I think you could add a lot to the game by making the instructions more complex and increasing the puzzle element, imo (like piecing together different notes), and the collectibles maybe only help simplify in the time limit. But great work overall!
Thank u so much for the in depth review/feedback!
Making the instructions more complex was in the original idea but cut for score, though I didnt think about putting different pieces of evidence together!
You are very welcome!
Nice idea to unlock 'words' in the manual. How creative!
Always a big fan of the modular bomb defusal games. Enjoyed that time could be used as a resource here to reveal some of the words. Well done :)
Good game, really enjoyed it.
Really makes you think - frustrating but very clever too! Well done.
It's like "keep talking and nobody explodes" but single-player. Well done.
I really love this one! Picking up what the instructions mean through context feels very rewarding. If I had any constructive feedback, it does feel a little too random right now- sometimes you'll get really obvious wire cutting tasks and other times it'll feel kind of impossible to figure it out in the countdown. I think the game could use a more defined progressive difficulty system that weights easier tasks to come earlier- or if that already exists, it might be in need of some tuning. But still, this game is really good and one of my favorites so far, awesome work!
Thank you so much for the feedback! Im glad you enjoyed it that much!
A very cool spin on the theme! Very frustrating at times... But it feels like it's meant to be that sort of game? I like it, nice job!
I thought at first that the "|" symbol means on and the "0" symbol means off...
And I was so angry because I was flipping the right switches but it was the other way around :D
Overall a very unique concept and greatly executed. Good luck!
I was planning on having a light to show if it's on but didnt have time. Glad you enjoyed it tho!
I liked the word-based twist on a bomb-defusal game. There’s a neat element of strategizing which words you want to unlock and in what order
Really fun! The idea of bombs was done often but this was a nice twist! great game!
Cool concept! I found myself trying to buy the cheaper words that still conveyed the message, priorityzing numbers and colors, like for example if the phrase is *** the button 5 times I know it's press from the context, and not "hold". Really cool :)
Good game. I scored 3.7k.
The resolution in the web build seems fine when playing in fullscreen.
I am not sure about the difficulty curve though. It seemed like the difficulty plateaued after unlocking all 5 panels.
I also wish there was a way to look at the bomb after it exploded so that I could check what exactly I did wrong. Another option would be to show a unique death screen message for every action that could trigger an explosion. Once, I thought that I was supposed to press a button 4 times but the bomb somehow exploded after I pressed the button exactly 4 times.
Thank u for the in depth feedback!
The button could've been a speed issue since u have like 1.2 seconds to press it the amount of times shown once u press it once.
The end screen was added 5 min before the deadline but that was an idea to show the bomb.
Hmm, this game has very interesting gameplay; I really like it!
By the way, could you rate my game? Thanks.
it was really thrilling, i really like the tasks
I really like the sounds of the atmosphere! Well, I died lots of times x)
Nice work! Got to the end on my third attempt, was very fun!
Great idea, it's fun to guess some of the words, but also sometimes frustrating when I don't have a clue. I didn't manage to get really far, but having consumables to help in that case seems fun :D
