Thank you!

Love this little anomaly game! Maybe more objects on the map would make the task more difficult, but I loved the style of the game and the graphics of it! Plus, a great addition is the volume slider and the customizable keybinds, keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Originally, we had planned to include more anomalies and a greater variety of them, but we couldn’t work on the game anymore on Saturday, so we had to make do with what we had.

I’m quite a beginner when it comes to art in our team, so I really appreciate the positive feedback on the graphics!

A lot of people complained about the lack of a volume control and customizable key bindings in the previous game jam, so we definitely wanted to make sure to include those this time.

I really enjoyed the gameplay! The game overall felt polished, and music really adds to the experience. I think adding more types of anomolies can increase the variety, as I had the same anomoly a couple times during a single play through. But overall, a very solid entry!.

Developer

Thank you for playing through our game! Since unfortunately none of us in the team/duo are particularly musically inclined, we don't create our own music. However, in return, we try to choose music that fits our theme as well as possible.

Originally, we had nearly 10 anomalies planned, but unfortunately we couldn't work on the game on Saturday, so we narrowed the list down to about 5–6. Additionally, we had an idea for screen anomalies, which would have been on-screen effects, but they were too obvious, so aside from the screen-flip effect, we left out all the other shaders.

Thanks again!

Fun style and use of the genre. Felt polished.

Thank you!

Hi, I love the graphics ! I would have added a texture background to the dialogue UI to improve a bit the cozy atmosphere though (like sand/wood color that would make it softer and better integrated in the game visually).

Apart from that the story is nice (and I relate so much hahah) and I love the cute-Ctuluh.

Got the Exit8 vibe too, nicely done !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it through!

Yes, this was a placeholder version of the dialogue panel — we just didn’t have time in the end to make a texture for it, and the recoloring somehow got forgotten before the slightly rushed submission. (Unfortunately we couldn’t work on the project on Saturday anymore.)

We’re glad you liked the story; we always like to write at least some minimal story for our game.

It’s good that it managed to convey the atmosphere somewhat.

Submitted(+1)

Haha no worries I understand, UI is never the priority in a jam. I gave you 5 stars for the graphics anyway, I love your style <3

Developer(+1)

Thank you sooooo much!

The truth is, I’m still very much in the learning phase when it comes to making game sprites (and art in general), so every bit of positive feedback really means a lot to me. :)

Submitted(+1)

Well at least you do learn how to make the art. It's something I want to do to but I feel very bad at it and don't know if I want to do pixel art, drawing in a software, or handdraw on paper then refine in a software (I'd love this later solution). So big applause for this, to me your graphics look minimalist but professional. (And I like minimalism)

Developer

Thanks again!

I hope you find your own artistic style too! I also experimented with many different things before I found Inkscape. (First I drew by hand, then I tried pixel art, after that I did 3D modeling in Blender, and finally I ended up with Inkscape.)

its a very interesting concept, but I couldn't quite understand how to solve the anormalities, good drawing, its a whole game with background and foreground

Developer

Thanks for trying it out! You’re right, unfortunately we didn’t explain what we mean by an anomaly, because there wasn’t time for it. Basically, every time either one appears or not. An anomaly means that an object changes in some way. For example, something appears, or some smaller change happens.

I liked the UI, colour pallete and design most, otherwise not a bad game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the kind words!

You don’t really realize how much color palettes matter until you start creating something yourself.

Really fun game, the music was unique and really enticing.

Thanks for playing our game!

Great art and concept—I was able to sleep after trying a few times

Developer

Thanks for the compliment! I hope you managed to fall asleep because of the game, and not because it was so boring… 😅

Really nice cozy game. You can see the Exit 8 inspiration for sure! The game is a bit short imo, but the art is really cute. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words and for playing through the game!

The Exit 8 was a major inspiration for us, but for example, the eye scenes were inspired by No, I’m Not a Human, while Cthulhu’s appearance was influenced more by Danganronpa.

As a beginner artist, I really appreciate your positive reaction to the artwork!

Submitted(+1)

Oh wow! It's interesting that you mixed that many inspiration sources. Now that you say it I definitely see the Danganronpa inspiration! I don't know No, I'm Not a Human though. If you say you are a beginner artist you'll definitely go a long way!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the encouragement! References and color palettes make a huge difference. So does finding an art style that you really enjoy.

The Danganronpa reference wasn’t entirely intentional. We only realized after finishing the game that, subconsciously, it had been an inspiration for us.

Submitted(+1)

A good, bite-sized game. I liked it! Maybe there could've been more sound effects for example the button presses. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it and for the tip! We really didn’t pay enough attention to the sound effects. You learn something new at every game jam!

Submitted(+1)

A bit simple but it's fun! A little confused at first what the "anomlies" meant but I caught on quick! Nice job!

Developer

Thanks for playing it through! Defining the "anomalies" was indeed something we left out, but we were hoping they would still be recognizable. There’s definitely still plenty of room for fine-tuning the difficulty level.

Submitted(+1)

The idea is really fun, basing your idea off of exit 8 is a really cool concept. I did kinda cheese the game by just saying i found an anomally every time. In exit 8 progress can only be made when you don't find an anomally. That would make this game more difficult. Good work!

Developer

Thanks for the playthrough and the advice!

You're right, it really did turn out to be a bit too easy. I was a little tight on time, since we couldn't work on it today anymore, so we ended up rushing to finish it yesterday. That didn't leave us any time to properly balance the difficulty.

It's great to get feedback from someone who has also played The Exit 8. I hope it wasn't too disappointing, though!
