I like this game (I especially liked the little inspo bit regarding the bag of rice and the little story to go with it, lol) - but the intro could use some work.
I think the little graphics in the bottom that is used for help text could be better as “orders” potentially. E.g. “Make this,” etc. for something that is so time directed. I’m trying to fill up the bentos, or not? The goal is a bit ambiguous. The time pressure is what makes it feel off - e.g. might be cozier to make bentos according to a pattern, fulfill X and then use the earnings to upgrade.
Thanks so much for the feedback! That's a neat way to handle it, and I could see how reworking the game to "orders" makes a lot of sense. Right now the only objective is to fill the bentos with food, but it would be a fun way to have a different play style with very specific orders and no time limit to drop things in.

Ok at first I didn't understood the gameplay at all but once I figured it out, it turned out to be a really great game! The music is relaxing and the game isn't as stressful as I thought it would be. Also the interpretation of the theme is really creative. Anyways, neat little game, good job!
I'm glad you figured it out, and I'm glad it wasn't too stressful!

I love the layering aspect of your game! Love the visuals and calm music too. It hit a nice part of my brain so I kept playing for a while :)
I'm glad you had fun layering for a while with the music and vibes!

This was surprisingly fun! It starts off pretty simple, and rather chill, but quickly becomes hectic - though there's definitely something very satisfying about layering up something perfectly. I'd almost say having extra flashy sound effects for when you send out a box with all the trimmings to really drive home the synergy would shine here.
As it stands though, it was really fun! I liked the rolling ingredient mechanic, even if it did feel like I kept getting more sauce with no tiles left for any, and no ingredients when I needed them most. I sort of learnt the tactic is not to send boxes out right away, but build them up so you can put finishing ingredients in near the end and cash in a ton.
Really fun game with a surprising amount of depth. Very bento!
That's a great recommendation! Glad you had fun, even if the balance felt a bit off with the sauce and just-right food spawns. I'll see if I can tweak things a bit after the jam with a little extra logic to help at the end of the day, but I'm glad you found a tactic that worked for you!

Its very lore accurate to my local bento place, anything I get there the lady always gives me extra sauce so its more like bento soup.
Nice work - really fun lil cozy game!
Absolute Bento! I got super locked in :3
Hahah I'm glad you had fun!

This game is so cute and fun!!! Any advice I would give is already in the comments. I had suchhhh a good time playing and i love the addition of the fairy tale!
I'm so glad you had a good time! And thanks for echoing the earlier feedback - always good to know when multiple agree on improvements!

Soooo relaxing and cute, I loved making these bento! ✨
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this game even if I felt like at some point it missed a bit of balance in the fréquence in which the base ingredients appear. (When you need only a tiny little ball of rice to finish and you only have topping appearing xD). Otherwise, fun game ! :3
I'm glad you enjoyed it (even if it felt like a while before the food plates spawned what you needed)!
Thanks for playing and commenting!
I really love this game. Such a simple idea but it gets soo addicting so fast. I wish it was a bit longer. Great work!
I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for playing and commenting!
i was a little confused at the start, i thought the example at the bottom when you begin was supposed to be an order to fulfill, but i quickly got the hang of it and was able to buy all the ingredients! :D i wish the art style was a little more consistent, i feel likethe other ingredients would've looked really cute in the style of the bag of rice, but i imagine it was because of time constraints. other than that, very cozy game!
I'm glad you were able to get the hang of it and found it cozy! Yeah, I had a dedicated artist at the start of the jam, but he unfortunately had to drop out. Some others in the Girly Jam community provided additional assets, and the rest are built-in assets with GameMaker. Not ideal, but it worked in a pinch to submit on time!

Ouh really cute! It took me a few minutes to understand exactly what to do, but as soon as I did, it became really fun. I think the thing which can be misleading is that you have to fill up the full box to sell it, but the little design down the page show some a pattern. But except for that confusion, I really enjoyed the game !
Thanks so much for that feedback! Based on this comment and another, I think switching from an image to a gif would be a good update here so players can see the lid close (maybe I could do two side-by-side with different foods so it doesn't look like a pattern). But I'm glad you figured it out and had fun with it!

This was such a cute and relaxing game, I couldn't stop playing it <3 I really enjoyed unlocking new ingredients for the boxes and I like how the tutorial was spread out over a couple of days. The first few days were a bit slow to start, but once I got my first unlock, it was super enjoyable! Amazing job :)
I'm so glad you had fun with it! Thanks so much for playing and commenting!
I'm ABSOLUTELY in love with the game, hehehe
The only thing - it's not obvious in the beginning that we must fill THE WHOLE box to sell it, I kept thinking that the instructions at the bottom were, like, a clue to what must be put in, but once I figured it out - OH MY GODNESS. The visuals are amazing (love the chopsticks cursor), the sounds are lovely, I've spend a good while in the game and it made me hungry :D
Aw, I'm glad you liked it so much! That's a really important note about the tutorial confusion; I'll see if I can update that with some clearer guidance. So glad you figured out the progression though (and hope you got something good to eat)!

Wonderful mix of chill and hectic. Took me a while to understand how it worked and the first few days are tough, because the bentos are so hard to fill. But that changes quickly. Well done!
Glad you liked the chill and hectic mix! The balance on the first few days could definitely use some extra tweaking to get it just right, but I'm glad it got better as you went along.

Even when I was trying to frantically make last minute bento boxes the music helped keep things cozy. The variety of shapes of different ingredients were well executed and I liked the progression system of unlocking more ingredients. For me, the tutorial text was a bit difficult to read but still legible. Overall good job! ☆
I'm glad the balance of cozy and frantic worked for you! And thanks for the note about the tutorial text. I struggled to get the text and UI implemented the way I wanted, so I'm going to dive into more practice on that for next time.

This was lovely. Amazing work!

Love the atmosphere, great take on the theme! Very satisfying progression loop, it's a cozy experience. The extra lore was a neat addition!
I'm glad you found it cozy and satisfying, and glad you enjoyed the lore! Thanks so much for playing and commenting!
High cortisol and cute assets, very cool game with a nice vibe!
Glad you liked it! Thanks so much for playing and commenting!
It’s cute! I didn’t really get the overlayed shapes over the boxes and what each one represents, but the idea is very cute and calming! love the stacking. love the music. love the art. goodjob!
Thanks for the feedback! If you mean the solid color once they were filled (just before they were sold), that was popping the lids on the bento boxes so they were ready for the customers. If you meant something else, let me know, but I'm glad you enjoyed your time stacking while you were at my little bento shop!
