Theme explanation
Our game is a platformer where each level unlocks a new layer for the world. Each level features a new tileset that grows in visual complexity, overlapping with previous layers for depth and preservation. The background music gains new layers, with each level unlocking a new instrument. Each added layer also includes a new mechanic for the player, with abilities that can be combined for maximum terrain exploration.

Really great short & sweet experience! The pixel art is well done and the final landscape reveal is lovely. Highlight is definitely the music, so amazing and really helps elevate the ambience! Only minor issues were the wall jump feeling a bit too sticky, and the jump sound effect getting really grating quickly.
Amazing job to the team!
Very fun and lovely game! I really liked how rocks started glowing every time I was next to them, it's such a small detail but makes the experience very polished.
AHH thank you!! That means a lot hehe, glad you had fun playing! 💗💗
Very cute and calming platformer! There's a lot of polish I'm this game and the sound effects were used well. There's clearly a lot of thought put behind the application of the theme (I didn't get at first that the backgrounds were prior levels)! The progression of new skills was very satisfying and reminded me of metroidvanias (perhaps we could've revisited older levels with the new moveset)? Other comments already mention the space bar jump and coyote time, but aside from that great job :)
Omg, thank you so much!! I'm really happy that you felt the progression, we were very adamant about putting that in 🤣 Revisiting old levels with the moveset would've been so cool, a good idea for next time 👀👀 Thanks for your feedback! ❤️
Super cute platformer! The controls felt a little clunky to me at times, and I figured out I could shift while on the ground to kinda glide which was fun but probably a bug. I really liked the interpretation of the theme, and how it was applied to all elements, tileset, controls, and music.
Aw, thank you! You should be able to dash on the ground, but after I submitted I realise that my instructions/animations did not make that clear 🤣🤣 I'm glad the theme came through! 💖
Gorgeous graphics and a lot of polish, very nice!
It's a great platformer, though I really wanted a bit more control by having an alternate keybind for jump. I used arrows and WASD combined to emulate that. As another mentioned, it did make it hard to get through smaller tunnels at time too. The depth of abilities growing each level was very nicely done, small sign and you knew what to do! I just wished the level design forced you to use those abilities a bit more to retrieve the keys.
I didn't get the background layers were the prior levels of the game, having an animation transition to the new layer to connect the doors would have been helpful to convey that. I was expecting at first that I'd be able to use the background platforms somehow ala some of the older Paper Mario games during their 2D sections 😅.
Omg, thank you for taking the time to write this all out! 💗 Having more jump inputs is something a few other people has mentioned as well, so I'll definitely take that going into a future project. In terms of level design, I'm so glad it was easily understandable 😆 but I do agree that it could have stretched the player more, especially as you gain much more freedom to move in the later levels. It was actually the aspect I found hardest about making this game! Animation transition between the levels would've been a super cool idea. I found that having each completed level in the background did give a lot of visual clutter towards the end, so unfortunately I did have to tune down that aspect which was a shame. Maybe a Paper Mario style would be interesting to explore 👀👀 Either way, thank you so much for your time! ❤️❤️
I love the visuals, background, and the audio, they really mix so well with each other. Love it!
Aw, thank you so much! I'm so glad it was all harmonious ahahah, thanks for your review and for playing! 💖
Quite liked the growing ability list, finally a use for my Hollow Knight/Silksong skillset :D looks and sounds great too!
LOLL true! My friends who play-tested it explicitly told me to change the controls so it'd feel more Silksong-y, so I'm glad that came thru 🤣🤣 I'm so happy you enjoyed it, thanks for playingg hehe ❤️‼️
really cute, it reminds me a lot of celeste! i love the main character's design and the chill atmosphere with the bug and bat friends :)
one small thing, the wall slide mechanic makes it a little difficult to enter tunnels, but other than that it feels pretty good to platform through!
I actually played the game jam version of Celeste before this jam for inspiration, so that makes sm sense ahahah 🤣 I really love the work our artist put into the character designs too hehe 🤭 As for the wall-slide, thanks so much for pointing that out! I noticed it as well, so I think the controls could do with a extra LAYER (haha) of polish if I were to do it again. Glad you found it fun otherwise tho, and thanks for playing!! ❤️❤️
Ouh cute platformer. I like the platformers without fight, it's kind of calming. The graphism is super cute. It's a fun game ! The only thing I would say is that it's a bit weird that the double jump only work if you hit jump twice kind of fast (so you can't do a long double jump), and when you unlock the climbing mechanic, you stay stuck on the wall even if you don't jump. But those are just tiny advices if you decide to work more on that game, because it's already really great !! Good job !
I agree, I was initially planning to have enemies/danger but I felt it would've been a bit jarring against the calm vibe we were going for (not to mention the time crunch LOL). Thanks so much for finding these bugs, I actually wasn't aware of them so this is superr helpful hehe. So glad you had fun playing it and thanks for your time!! 🤭💖
nice platformer and cute graphics but i wish the jump was on the spacebar
Fair point about the spacebar, I don't know how it slipped my mind loll. Thank you for the review! ❤️❤️
It's a simple platformer but i really liked the fact the music layers the more you progress through the game.
For sure, I'm super proud of our teammate who handled all the music ahah, thanks for playing! ❤️
I liked the depth in the backgrounds!
Aw, thank you for featuring us in your video! I'm glad you enjoyed the music and hope you have fun playing all the other game jam games! 🤣
Visually, absolutely amazing. Especially the scene in the end, working in concert with the music - top grade stuff!
The platforming itself was decently done, but lacked a bit of polish. Coyote time was already mentioned, which would have been a great addition. Still, everything worked well and I didn't feel like I had to fight the controls. There's just some room for improvement here, still.
All in all though, great job! Very good length for a jam game!
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you liked the ending, that was my fav bit too 🤣 I do agree that coyote time would've been a big improvement haha, thank you for the honest feedback! 💖
A fun platformer! I really wish the jump was bound to space bar but I did start to get good at it. The wide array of movement options made for some pretty fun impromptu skips. The last level was hard but I was satisfied with the ending. The music track was soothing and fit well and the pixel art was top notch!
Thank you! Some skips were definitely unintentional ahaha, but I'm glad that it was still fun. I will deffo keep multiple inputs in mind for next time. I'm glad you enjoyed the art & music too! ❤️
It's a great platformer, I really enjoyed the game's atmosphere. I think the game would have benefited from "coyote time" to improve the jump feel, particularly before unlocking the wall ride. I had a lot of fun going all the way through and unlocking all the abilities one by one. Well done on this game!
Thank you so much! Definitely, coyote time is something I'll try to incorporate in future games haha. So glad to hear you had fun! :D
