Super cool concept. I liked the idea of direction cost changing based on supply and demand. However, the level design didn't seem to lend much ability to take advantage of this, and it happened too fast imo. Still, great game. And I loved the tie! :D

Thanks so much for playing!
Level design was one of the things I definitely wanted to get more time for. I had put the levels together in 5 minuted and intended to circle back, but never got there. The only interesting design choice was the water cooler one. The others are just trying to make it more difficult to go horizontal or vertical.
Definitely room for some interesting decisions if not done at 2am on the last morning 😂
Glad that you liked it despite the fact!
Fantastic game!! Took a moment for me to click (very nice that you added a tutorial), but I had a lot of fun with this one. Inventive take on the theme and awesome visual style and audio too. The SFX when you hit the watercooler is simply amazing.
I thought I had a pretty good year, being slightly below budget a few times but never over, still had to hand in that tie though. I think this is where the game, for all it's playfulness, channels the grim reality of 9-to-5 office work, clocking into the mercy of a nameless corporate entity where being noticeably good at your job sometimes seems like the biggest mistake you can make.
Still, I'll have to come back for another round to see if I can't get that promotion!
Excellent job all around!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Genuinely!
It was fun/depressing trying to walk that line of keeping things playful while taking a jab like you say. Glad to hear that it landed.
I think I’ve decided that handing in your tie is spiritually the good ending and getting to CEO is the bad too.
Really appreciate you playing and enjoying the game!
Thanks!
Thanks for swinging by asking for a review! This was a cool take on the theme and the snake genre. Great job!
In case you wanted to see it again, the VOD is linked below, and will be available for 60 days:

That was a nice snake variation :) Would be nice to be able to remap the keys or at least use WASD together with the arrows. I liked the visuals, audio and gameplay, very interesting concept of charging more for most used moves from previous level, it made it much less repetitive. And the whole storyline was good, I had lots of fun :)
I’m sad because that was literally the next thing on my todo list.
I usually have a template for jam games but have recently changed things up, so my new workflow didn’t have the remapping available yet. Will definitely get it in before the next one.
Thanks so much for playing! Really appreciate the feedback.
My lack of planning was once again my downfall.
this was fun, I wanted to keep playing!
First of all, I really like portraits and this visual style. Very big + for tutorial
I liked it except for the part where I couldn't complete any level under budget. Any tips? I'd love to try again
I’m glad you liked it despite that.
There is unfortunately a snowball effect when things start to go bad that make it harder to pull out of.
Because your budget gets cut if you go under, I think the ideal is aiming for the budget from the start so you give yourself some wiggle room as you progress.
It’s intentional that there is a pause at the start of each quarter to give yourself the chance to figure out what kind of path you want to take. With the changing cost knowing how you can push up towards budget cap is a good way to position yourself.
If you go too low under budget to begin with, as the cost goes up per move you’re going to almost always go over budget.
Hope that helps! Let me know
From the get go you want to try take as many moves as you can without going over budget.
It’s a little bit tricky that getting exact budget is the goal rather than getting under budget.
If you’re under budget you get punished for the next rounds by having as much as you’d used when you went under.
So if you took 4 moves and spent 4 of your budget, that means next time you’ll only get a budget of 4. But with increase cost of move that means you can’t actually get in under budget anymore.
You don’t know how high of a compliment that is! I usually say that I write better in code than English (despite it being my only language), so having that land is really awesome.
Yeah, even with the tutorial I feel like it’s a bit much to load all at once. A post jam version would give each system a bit of breathing room before introducing the next.
Thanks for playing!
I love the concept! Seriously, the game made me strategize about my next moves so I would meet the budget perfectly and I enjoyed that greatly. The humour is also peak.
Thanks for saying!
I really suck at this game, so we are in this together and definitely not dumb. I really want to make a post jam version where you schedule your moves so it is less about reflexes.
There is probably some metaphor about life being difficult, but I won’t pretend to that I was deep enough to intend that 😂
This game really makes you need to think and adjust to what is the most efficent way to get to the goal and i liked that!
Thought this was brilliant, everything felt so cohesive, the humour, ui, art and gameplay. Getting 'punished' for going under budget is the realest thing ever.
I love this game is my favourite so far! Cool idea cool gameplay very entertaining. My only bad feedback is that since all the game is manages with keyboard, having to use the mouse in the menu is inconvenient. For the rest, 10/10
EDIT: Sorry idk what he wants from me but this is the best I can do, I wont be able to get all green
Wow, thank you so much! That’s genuinely such a lovely comment. I really appreciate that!
And seriously, you’re soooooo much better at this game than I am 😂😂😂
Definitely with you on the menu piece. It was a last minute addition, but for future I’m going to make sure it’s done a lot earlier. My ideal is it’s all keyboard/controller.
“The best I can do” so good! It is a little punishing in reality… you have to have a perfect score for promotion 😬
Honestly the more I think about it, I think this is the good end. You did the best you could, despite the unrealistic expectations that were set upon you. You would have had to give up who you were to become something you’re not.
You truly won!
Seriously thank you for engaging with it on such a deep level though. My sad expectation was that most people would be fired and get frustrated, so thanks for finding it compelling enough to give it another shot.
I got fired halfway, which means I fared better compared to the real life :D
Fun game and writing.
Thanks!
