How does the game fit the theme?
The game centers around questioning suspects, some of which are criminals who give you false statements, your goal in the game is to not just blindly trust every word, but to consider everyone with suspicion. Ergo "Trust No One"

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The music track was sourced from pixabay and later modified slightly, apart from that all other assets were made during the jam period.

How many people worked on the game?

The style was really good!

Fun brain teaser that also keeps you a bit anxious that your suspects will get merced lol

I absolutely love the presentation it oozes personality and style and the sound design is pretty amazing too. I also gotta say that the sliders being cigarettes is such a damn cool tounch!
it's my favorite game I have played so far. I was really surprised by the amount of depth and just how many types of mechanics you were able to squeeze from this premise to keep it fresh and layered. I wasn't enough focused to  make it till the end I only made it to about puzzle 5, but I absolutely loved what I played! I would love to return and give it another try later

I really really enjoyed my time with this game! Polish, visuals, and atmosphere were absolutely on point and the gameplay loop was so well-thought out and a blast to play through. Amazing work!

The art, gameplay, and music are beautiful, but I'm definitely too dumb for this. A really great game!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the gameplay loop. (Also, this artstyle was kind of the same one I was going for but you pulled it off way better.)

Submitted(+1)

Really great game, I had a blast playing it
Making a solo version of a hidden role game is pretty creative and it is very well executed
I love the UI as well, it's polished and very satisfying

I think it could be great if you could unzoom on the suspects though, it can be pretty long to go through the entire lineup on later levels. It could also help to check if a role is appearing twice or not

For a solo dev this is a huge deal of a game for a jam. I'm really stocked how good it is, the UI the colors and music are amazing. I'm a jazz sucker anyways. Loved the settings UI and tutorial. I solved like 8 cases and did so successfully without getting an innocent. Gameplaywise it gets easier after a few cases, very intuitive. I like a game like this that is made for smart people, meaning you have to pay attention and think to win or complete the game. Really great job man.

This is really terrific, excellent vibes, music and the art oozes style, love it! Would maybe be nice to have a way to mark subjects in the list on the right with like, tick, ?, cross for the longer puzzles with more information, and to have the list update with the order once you’ve investigated the subjects as I found it hard to keep track sometimes on the later puzzles. That being said I completed them all, very fun! Loved the setting sliders being cigarettes!

Developer

Yeah, I wanted to add a way to mark suspects on the list, but I had some other stuff to do over the weekend. When it comes to updating the list, it wouldn't work great, since once someone dies without getting investigated you lose the ability to read their role, so if that happens automatically would give more information than you should have, but yeah I should have just bit the bullet and implemented the markers. Oh and congrats on beating all the stages. I will say that if you ever want to see all the roles, you can try again or go into the endless mode, since not every role shows up during every playthrough, even if most of them do.

Submitted

Yeah ofc, appreciate time is very short for these and this is already great, was just nitpicking tbh! So the roles are randomly assigned even in the initial 7 stages? Thinking about it not sure why I was convinced you’d have to write the puzzles yourself, once you have the role logic it should work ig? Very cool!

Developer(+1)

Yep, I had to make sure everything is weighted correctly, so there is always enough innocents for the amount of criminals, but apart from that it just adds a couple of roles to the list for every stage and then picks out a balanced assortment.

Amazing presentation and ambience, and a great implementation of a deduction type of game. My only nitpick is having to scroll all the way to check answers for each suspect, Would be nice if we had a way to jump straight from suspect 3 to 11 for example. Regardless, incredible work!

Very cool! Nice concept, good visuals and audio. Inspired by Dupery mayhaps? Great work for just a week!

Developer(+1)

Somewhat, I came up with the concept before the jam and I actually found the dupery demo just before the jam started, but I decided that I'm not gonna let that stop me from doing it anyways :P

I'm loving your game!! The ambience and music are really cool and suit the vibe of a noir questioning game; the UI is sick as hell, and the game challenges your thinking and deductive skills enjoyably! It's amazing what you managed in a week!

All in all, I'm loving this, and I hope I can finish all seven stages 😄

Really cool idea! Great for the theme and the music was a great choice. I think I could play this for a long time lol. There was one thing that I was confused about that I think might be something to explain in the tutorial section. I had a Priest next to an arrested Saboteur but the Priest said there were no criminals next to them. I arrested the Priest thinking that they must be lying since there was a Saboteur adjacent to them, but they weren't a lying criminal. I guess this means that your arrested suspects are no longer "near".

Developer(+1)

Actually that's from the Saboteur's description he makes one innocent target next to him lie when doing their action.

Ah gotcha, thanks.

This was great. I really love the visuals and the music. You do an amazing job at creating atmosphere. So polished for one week. The UI is insane for a jam I wish I had that skill (I find it to be the hardest part lol)

Developer

Honestly I will say that I thought this is gonna be a disaster when I settled on it, because I also hate working on UI, but surprisingly it did work out by some miracle.

Submitted

Looks very polished. Also if you have any time would love feedback on my game :)

Developer (1 edit)

I'll see if I can get to it tomorrow.

*I lied I did it today.

Submitted(+1)

This was SO amazing ngl!! Even tho I'm REALLY dumb w these kinds of games, the appeal is THERE. You NAILED the mafia atmosphere w the music, and the visuals are just... too good!!

Submitted(+1)

Great game, absolutely adore the atmosphere and theme. Super polished. Puzzles ramped in difficulty nicely as well.

Submitted(+1)

Damn, this was really well executed. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. It looks very polished too for a game made in one week, amazing job!

Submitted(+1)

I LOVED this game!!
The visual design and color pallet is really clean, the puzzles were really interesting and had a good difficulty curve, and I got a dopamine hit every time I pressed a button!
Oh also using cigarets as sound sliders is genius ngl.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I tried my best to make the curve passable, even with the fact it is getting randomized each time, so there is only so much I can do to keep it well balanced. The cigarettes as volume sliders is something I came up years ago for another game and I decided to remake them for this one, because it's such a fun detail and very in character for noir.

Submitted

As always, loved the noir theme, gameplay is very engaging and there is nothing lacking. Very polished especially the UI, congrats!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I always try to make the gameplay fun (I am a game designer after all), and I mean, what can be cooler than a guy in a trench coat, I'll always take an opportunity to make noir if it's on the table especially with a theme so suited to it.

What an absolute masterpiece of a game.  I find it hard to believe just one person made this game since it not only had amazing, sound and UI, but the gameplay was tight as hell too. Gotta give my kudos to this absolute unit of a dev. Salute to this one man army

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I guess the 5 years of making jams helps a bit. It was my first time working with UI and HD art so it was a fun change of pace from my usual stuff. And well the gameplay is just my standard, I like to consider myself a gamedesigner :D
