How does the game fit the theme?
Slap the Soldier is built entirely around not being able to trust anyone.
Every soldier in the lineup accuses someone, but no two lie or tell the truth for the same reason — a Truthful soldier always points at the real culprit, a Liar never does, and several other hidden roles twist that logic further. No single accusation can be taken at face value; the only way forward is cross-referencing every statement against the others to find the one pattern that makes them all consistent. "Trust No One" isn't just the mood, it's the entire mechanic.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Music, and a few parts of the code handling combinatorial and geometric calculations, were not written from scratch during the jam.

The concept is cool and the art awesome, couldn't really try as the Accuse button didn't want to work on the web version. Good job!
It's a fun game, and it would be even better if there were a tutorial. I really liked it—especially the artwork; they're fantastic and diffucult😅.
Thank you so much for your kind words <33 I'm really glad you're enjoying the game and that the artwork stood out to you it means a lot, since a lot of care went into it. I also really appreciate you flagging the difficulty and the lack of a tutorial we're actually working on adding one right now (one day), so newer players will have an easier time getting into it. Thanks again for playing and for the feedback =)
is this inspired from a DFA-tree hahaha? pretty fun game tickles your brain!
Hey, first of all, thanks for playing! No, the idea actually didn’t come from there, but rather from combining role-based mechanics like Lupus in Tabula with deduction/elimination rules similar to Sudoku :)
love the vibe so much! maybe a slower difficulty curve will help :D
Hi, thanks for trying the game! We know the tutorial is much requested, we hope to add it with future updates :)
Art style is fantastic. Puzzles are really cool. Probably could have used some sort of tutorial Or at least a few extremely simple levels to introduce all the moving pieces. Cool puzzles though!
Good morning, first of all thank you for playing! Second, we're aware of the tutorial issue — unfortunately we didn't fully polish that part due to the limited time we had available. We'll definitely fix it in the future :)
The artstyle and concept are fantastic here. However, it felt a bit intimidating to read all the roles at once. I'd like to see a few tutorial levels that give the player a softer landing to understand how it works.

Plus, I'm not sure what I'm missing but I can't press the accuse button (image). I assigned the roles that I believed were correct but couldn't go forward. What am I missing?
Good morning, and thank you so much for playing!
You're absolutely right about the tutorial — adding a few levels that gradually introduce the roles would definitely help ease players in. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time during the challenge to include one, but it's something we'd love to add going forward.
As for the accuse button: that comes down to a small communication gap on our end, sorry about that! The soldiers themselves are clickable — you can select one by clicking their head or their letter. Once a soldier is selected, you can accuse them as the culprit. The role tokens are only there to help you make and test your own hypotheses; they don't need to be assigned correctly (or at all) to proceed.
Thanks again for the feedback really appreciate it! :)
First of all I LOVE the design. The paper designs are great.
The game mechanics are pretty complexe. Takes a lot of thinking and I have to say I wasn't very good at it :D
Some Feedback for improvement:
- Clicking the characters did not work sometimes. I had to try to click on different spots to get it to work
- The loading from one leve to the other was a bit laggy.
- Web-Export would be nice, as the others already mentioned
Really nice work from you! :)
Thank you so much for playing! We really appreciate your feedback, and we’ll definitely take it into account as we work on improving the game.
I realy love its style it made it so funny
I'm a little suspicious of downloading files to play a game, perhaps it would be better to export to HTML5 and allow players to play through itch
Unfortunately, due to the computational requirements of our current puzzle generator and the way its optimization was implemented, the game isn’t playable in the browser at the moment. We’re already working on a solution, though!
Thanks a lot for the feedback!
If you want we just updated the version available!
Thanks for updating! I gave it a try, the game is a little bit too complex for my small brain. I think its an interesting concept and would be a ton of fun if the rules were introduced more gradually. Perhaps even naming the soldiers by a color instead of a letter because i spent so long hitting keyboard keys thinking it was the button to press. Some tutorialization and i think this would be a great game! Good job on the art and design.
having to download stuff is always very discouraging... Try exporting into html5- The thumbnail is basically the same style as mine :)
