How does the game fit the theme?
I made the villagers and residents have quirky and riddle-based dialogue so you can't "trust anybody" based on what they say.. it's really just a visual novel kind of game with choices matter and you try to figure out the right thing to say. Everybody seems suspicious and you just moved into Pumpkin Hollow on Harvest Day and are learning their strange behaviors and quirky-ness. Your goal is to try to collect candies (mainly Signature candies which you can read in the Candy Pedia in the Village scene) and then you get a "Performance Title" based on your performance so there are multiple playthroughs.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Some of the sound effects which I list on the page! Otherwise, we did everything! This game was primarily done by me since I am a solo developer, but my twin sister and husband helped with some artwork and the background music. But we did all the art and I'm SO excited for people to see it! I learned so much about buildings since I never draw them! I can't wait to learn 3D, but for now, I'm making a lot of 2D games so I can do the art myself :P
How many people worked on the game?3

Cute dialogue and very cozy! i really enjoyed it
Very cute and cozy game. I really enjoyed the dialogue options as well. Great work!
Cool game but it was kind of confusing on what I needed to do, lot's of replay potential though!
Aweee what exactly are you confused on? You try to collect all the candies and get as many as you can (particularly the Signature candies) and the night will end after there are no dialogue options (which you can see on the map with ! and ...)
This game felt has a very unique art style. It was like Paper Mario meets Toon Town mixed with a bit of Gamecube Animal Crossing.
Though there wasn't much gameplay here per-say (at least as far as games I personally play) this was a fun little adventure!
I enjoyed exploring the village, meeting the goofy neighbors, (that V dude is 100% a vampire) and although I'm too stupid to figure whos honest or whos lying, i can say that the sound design for new candies was expert level. Felt GOOD finding a new candy! 😆
This fit the theme, it was adorable, it was enjoyable!
My only critique really is that I'd love some form of game attached to it.
Maybe someone offers to play hide and seek for a rare candy?
Maybe its timed and each person you find gives you a hint to where the others are hiding, some lie, some don't!
Again, this has a special vibe, and a bit of game would make this truly special!
Oh.. my.. gosh! You just mentioned my favorite childhood game. I LOVED Toontowns! I still play the Rewritten and the other one that has a C in it.. which is way better than Rewritten. <3 I only played Wild Leaf and New Horizons when it comes to Animal Crossing! I think my system I first got it on was Nintendo DS!
Yeah I wanted just a chill trick-or-treat night/cozy kind of game. You try to collect all the signature candies which each resident gives out a signature candy if you go down the right dialogue trees! That's the ULTIMATE goal. Haha Victor Vane? That character was my best friend's favorite character!
I honestly really wish I had time for minigame integrations! I wanted some of them to like give you clues on where you could find candies that were even buried throughout the map and such too!
Thank you for playing!!! And giving such thorough feedback!
the visuals and music had a really cute, nostalgic vibe!! reminded me of games on the old cartoon network and nickolodeon websites :DD cherry bon bon is evil though, i was just excited for some candy </3

Haha! Thank you so much for this compliment <3 I definitely got MAJOR inspiration from my favorite cartoon, Gravity Falls! I'm so glad you felt those vibes during your playthrough!
i like the 2d characters in a 3d environment, v unique artstyle! the atmosphere was also unique and the writing was charming. man i love Halloween
Thank you! It's all 2D art in a 3D world space. <3 I really appreciate that! I want to try to make the 2D assets look more in depth, but still pure 2D <3 I'm learning a little bit of 3D UV wrapping to try and figure this out.
I like this Unique art style. i think no one will have it at least in this game jam. and music also great.
Thank you so much D: My husband did the music! He had so much fun spending a day doing all 3 tracks! He did amazing work.
I was aiming towards a Gravity Falls kind of style!
the art is great, the sound is fantastic, real sims vibe to the characters talking, i like the openness of just explore and see what people say
only feedback is maybe put the speech choices a little off centre as i kept accidentally clicking them trying to get to the next line of text
Aweee thank you <3 The compliments mean so much!
Thank you for the feedback. Honestly! I haven't gotten a whole lot of feedback so I really appreciate this as I am going to reuse my dialogue system I made to my full game so I will definitely make these adjustments!
Gorgeous 2D art grabs you, and then you stay for the friends you make and the vibes! Love Ghost Boo
Aweee thank you <3 My favorite character is definitely Benny Boo :) Ghost Boo is adorable too! Very quiet!
The art is incredible, there's dozen different candy, houses and characters, I can't think how many hours you've spent on them. Looks really polished. Great work!
Thank you so much! I spent two whole game jam days on it! Spent 14 hours each day. Ran on like 5 hours of sleep each night xD
This game really captured the feeling of trick or treating as a kid. The art is ADORABLE. Loved it!
Thank you SO MUCH!
A great game. It looks and sounds fantastic. The dialogue is superb. The theme is fully explored. It’s one of the best games I’ve played in this competition. I’d appreciate it if you could rate our project as well.
Aweee thank you! Your game is added to my queue! I'm burning through them today <3
The game is really cute, and I liked the characters. The graphics and sound are five stars across the board. My only wish is that it leaned harder into the theme, that's the one category where my score is low, but everything else is great. It's so charming. Congrats!
Awee thank you! I just don't like deduction games. I felt the theme was very restricting this time around unfortunately! I was still trying to make it cozy while trying to get the theme integrated into it <3 Thank you!
8/30/2026 Bug Fixes: Made an update for the dialogue tree as it was not possible to get the other 3 performance titles before the "Trust No One" one.
Also fixed dialogue trees that were starting before a conversation that should trigger it first. Flag was missing.
I really enjoyed playing Trick or Treat in Pumpkin Hollow! The art style is charming, and the gameplay is so smooth. I really liked engaging villager interactions and discovering who was being sweet or a little mischievous. (kinda like "Trick or Treat", love what you did there) The game feels very polished and professional, and the music does a great job of complementing the atmosphere. Overall, Pumpkin Hollow is an adorable and well-crafted game. You can tell a lot of love was put into making this.
Awe thank you SO much Destiny! So much passion that I'm definitely taking the art and music we did here to a full-game :) I still want to integrate trick-or-treat into one of the "episodes". I love that you liked interacting with the villagers and trying to get different performance titles!
We had a lot of fun playing your game! It feels polished and complete. The assets look sooo good and the conversations are fun. Great job!
Awe thank you SO much!! We had so much fun doing art. Not going to lie, 2 days went into the art (at least my end.. would have taken longer if I had to do the candies myself, but my sister helped me out there).
