That was a RUSH. At first I thought this was corporate sim with just reading your co-workers code. But it was like reading a story via code. DOOD FIREMANS NEEDS TO CHILL OUT.
The game is really fun and sometimes I forgot that there was a possible 2nd or 3rd file which made me make some funny mistakes. I also love the UI of the game and every visual aspect. This feels like a really well polished steam game. Really fun and great game, amazing work team :D

The only thing that felt a bit rough was scroll wheeling would jump me too much , and because if this it was hard to find messages I missed. But its a really small detail that it's not crazy important.

Thank you for trying it out!!! I'm glad you got invested with Firemans' shenannigans HAHA.

There are a couple of UX problems with the game as you've mentioned with the file check button on the top, and also the scroll wheel. I think those are something we will definitely fix later!

I'm really glad to hear that you had fun! Thank you again for the praise!!

Oh my god, did I enjoy having a game version of basically my job :'D Fantastic work, loved the gameplay, visuals and audio was really immersive. The messages flooding your inbox that are not code related were very appreciated as well, adding that layer of just hectic energy while you are on your shift and it was fun to see story progression with some characters and basically how much more code is broken. Congratulations on finishing a game for the jam!

Developer

Thank you so much for giving it a go! I'm glad the game resonates with your job xD. I'm also happy to hear you appreciate the inbox with random references to pop culture as well! Highly appreciate your kind comment and your experience with it!

This game is absolutely amazing! It was genuinely so much fun to play! Even the animations are super smooth, and the text in the code is written incredibly well. You did a great job telling the story through very short text—that's impressive. The animations are hilarious!
The controls feel really nice. Without exaggeration, this is my favorite game from this game jam so far!

Developer

Wow thank you so much for the high praise! I'm really glad that you resonate a lot with the art and narrative. Huge credits to my teammate for  that one!

I really enjoyed playing your game! I got really stressful, which I think was the intent. It is sort of funny though that doing right is the most boring option and if you do bad things you get rewarded with funny stuff happening on the camera. So it’s not only fighting bad code but also your own bad impulses.

I did have some issues with how much the text scrolled in the messaging app making it a bit hard to handle. I do think the number of messages and lack of priority to the ones that were new was intentionally bad UX, so I’m not gonna complain about that. But if the scroll step was a bit smaller would have been nice. There’s also a whole lot of work that must have gone into those meme-texts and the UX in the app combined with feeling stressed means I really quickly skimmed them. Which is fine, but also a bit unfair to the work that must have gone into them. =)

I did have a lot of fun playing though, so not really complaining.

Heya! Thank you so much for your detailed feedback and even with your gameplay video as well! It was a lot of fun watching how you play and I must say, you're probably one of the most detailed and safest gamers I've seen so far!

I noticed that you mentioned the code is a bit hard because of the font. We addressed that issue but its kinda hard to have a balance of aesthetics and also font at the same time. I originally wanted to add an accessibility setting to change the font but I didn't have time unfortunately.

I do apologize if you felt overwhelmed when playing the game! The game kinda strives on chaos a bit more (which you kinda noticed after retrying the game to accept everything xD). Originally, we wanted to add some good rewards as well (like a plant changing in the office, etc) but as for game jams go, we didn't have enough time! I also find it very interesting that you rejected code with missing brackets () which was not really intentional in the game design xD.

The scrolling is definitely the most common complaint in the game and you're not the only one! Definitely something that we should've take into account for. You've also mentioned adding a filter to the chat system which could definitely be something we look into more later on! The checklist and the X symbols also seemed to cause a bit of confusion which is really useful feedback for us! The consistency between the symbols on the game screen and the results screen needs to be fixed since right now, the game only keeps track on how many u rejected and accepted on the game screen but on the results screen, it takes into account how many u got wrong or right regardless if u reject or accept!

Again, I want to give you the biggest thanks for playing our game and even sharing footage of it! It's super useful feedback that we can learn from! I wish you to have a super pleasant day!

Game was extremely enjoyable from start to finish. Everything is incredibly polished. The only complaint I could have is that the scrolling is too fast. Other than that - peak experience.

Developer

Thank you for trying it out and for your high praise! I'm really glad you find the game extremely enjoyable! I completely agree with you! Clicking the scrollbar with your mouse is a much better experience but I forgot to take into account people's first instinct to just scroll with their scroll wheel which is a bit too harsh in terms of speed, so you're definitely not the only one! Again, thank you for your kind words!

I like the gameloop and all the little references in the game.

Developer

Thank you for trying it out! I'm glad you liked the gameloop and the references! xD

As an IT person, my email inbox would never be that small, because I'd get lost trying to scroll through it. I would've made the screen adjustable, but aside from that, it's a very neat management game for coding.

Developer

Hey! Thank you for trying our game! Yeah that's completely fair, you're not the only one who's struggling with the size and the scrolling. I think I should've made the scrolling less harsher as well but we didn't have time to playtest unfortunately. Glad you liked the game though!

pretty nice, though i feel like my attention was pretty divided

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for trying it out! There is quite a bit going on but that's completely intentional! Though the main focus of the game is reviewing the code to prevent bad things from happening. I do apologize if the game divided your attention too much!
