HOLY CRAP THEY SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ME! I think this could be a very big game if you intend on adding more stuff to it. Maybe like FNAF, or BanBan!

How does the game fit the theme?
Littlest Suspets honors the theme by providing an atmosphere of distrust and deduction as to the identities of the characters inside the game, urging the player to identify characteristics which may accuse certain pets of being aliens rather than others. Different modes of play intensify or relax the threats the player may experience.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Every asset and code sample was produced by the team during the time period, except: in-game font, noise and mask textures used in VFXs, 2 sound effects which were sourced and modified for in-game usage.

WOW this game is amazing! Extremely polished for a game jam. If I saw this randomly posted while scrolling on itch, I would've assumed it took at least a month to finish. You guys really put in the elbow grease.
I loved the main menu and the web-based tutorial. I was able to understand the situation from the site alone, but the in-game audio tutorial was great too.
ALSO I LOVE THE LOADING SCREEN, I WOULDVE MADE IT LAST FOR MINIMUM 5 SECONDS.
The gun and blackout mechanic was really well done. The subtle tells the animals could give mixed with the pitter-patters during the blackout really creeped me out. At one point I was telling the animals to "SHUT UP" because I'd listen for sound cues and hear "MEEEEOWWW." I was really considering glocking down some of the loud ones regardless of if they were evil or not.
I was able to beat the game first try, but replayed it to see what would happen if you ran out of ammo or if you got caught at night.
That leads me to my two points of order. To clarify, these aren't CONS nor complaints, just bullet points. First:
- Ending the game and telling the player they don't have enough ammo is somewhat boring.
- Imagine you're playing Mario and there's 30 seconds left on the clock. All of a sudden, right in the middle of the mission, the game calculates your moveSpeed * distanceRemaining and determines you can't make it and ends the game there. Or imagine you're playing Tic Tac Toe and your enemy sets up a fork. The game just ends saying "well you can't win now so it's over." Part of the fun is "fucking around and finding out." It would be more fun to let the player worry as to whether or not they actually killed an imposter with their second-to-last bullet, then finding out they messed up afterwards.
- I wish the ending occurred when you are truly out of ammo. You could have it so the lights flicker to black and when they turn back on, every animal is dead, your player turns around, and either one or two imposters is standing behind the player. This reveals who was evil, if you killed one of the imposters correctly, and is a fun little cutscene. I'm not sure how hard it is to do in Unity, but I think a cutscene like this in Godot would've been very doable with the AnimationPlayer.
- A lot of tension is built up but there isn't a climax.
- Now this might be a moot point, but there's no jumpscare, or stinger, or shock moment. I found out that the way you die is via an explosion. That's kinda funny but it discounts some otherwise amazing tension that your team built up throughout the game. The pitter-patter, twitchy heads, etc shouldn't go to waste.
- Lastly, the scary moments were easily solved via bullet.
- I loved how you could see the imposters' heads twitch in the dark, or hear them laugh, or how their creepy smiles would appear. The problem I have is that the tension and fear I felt was quickly solved by gun.
- A game I like to play is called Deceit 2. In that game, you're fighting other players who are imposters. By day you have a gun, by night, everyone appears as a dark silhouette and you cant use your gun. That player can then transform into their monster form and chase you. I'm not saying you need to do all of that, but the lights and gun give the player safety. Taking one of those things away, but not both discounts the effort you put into trying to scare the player. A monster may scare me in real life. Hell, I might even brown note all over the place. But I'll tell you what. I won't be nearly as scared with a big-iron on my hip.

This game is very good i really enjoyed it I some how found the suspects by shooting random npc the graphics are very good grate work
First of all!! This game looks so cute but somehow manages to be genuinely creepy. The longer I stared at those rabbits, the scarier their eyes became TT
I wasn’t really sure how to inspect everyone at first... On my first try, I climbed onto the cat tower (I assume that’s what it’s for? XD) and stared at everyone forever, but I still couldn’t tell who was suspicious TT Somehow, after randomly shooting four of them, I actually won XD
On my second try, I decided to actually use Inspect... and then, on one dark and stormy night... I locked eyes with a rabbit...
Overall, this was a really fun game!! I feel like there’s so much potential to expand on this idea, especially with multiplayer, more maps, and more little hiding spots to explore. I’d love to see what this could become with even more content! XD
HAHAHA such a fun experience you had, I'm glad!
During testing we actually got scared many mannyyy times, and sometimes shot innocents just because they were so close to our faces hahaha. Never foget, they might be cute, but they are also deadly 👀
We surely will epand the game and make it multiplayer with a rotation of maps and how things are placed and what weapons you have available! So stay tunned!
Kinda creepy and sorta follow the five night at Freddy's artstyle so i get the vibe completely...the game is well made with nice mechanics and smooth gameplay...great work indeed !
Really liked this one! There is a good blend of cute and creepy here. I like the introduction monologue i thought it was voice acted well! I thought the animal noises were adorable and I felt a little bad killing them lol
Love the FNAF type achievements I can tell there is some inspiration taken form some of the more modern horror games, I managed to get all 5 stars and I tried the skins for fun.
At first I wasn't sure what I was looking for but it turns out I just had to be more patient and to look more carefully, once I learned the typical signs it was significantly easier to spot the impostors. Standing on the tubes made for an easy strat to survive and to tell which of them was charging was me, tho I like that it still wasn't always obvious due to the the darkness
Thank you so much for the feedback. You got exactly the point, at the beggining, the p,ayer is kinda like "ok animals, impostors, but now what?", but that is the whole point, to be patiente and look carefuly, so that you start getting the signs and the strange behaviours of the impostors. The tubes we are going to change that because it really is like a "always win" situation where you can't die cus the animals don't reach you, but I'm glad you enjoyed the game! <3
The game is very well made, and the sound effects and visual effects do a great job of building the atmosphere. It also fits the theme really well.
Great job!
Very spooky. I had a strat of hiding in a corner and then one of the NPCs pushed me off the map and I fell out of the world D:
It was intense since I was scared to find the imposters but I also had no other choice haha. Managed to win once after several tries. Must've got the trigger happy achievement like 5 times lool
Good idea for a theme! Love the gun animations and shooting. Game gave me chills and VHS effect really helped. Good job!
Got all the achievements! Really liked the style and gameloop here. Reminds me of an older game I used to play called Deceit (maybe an inspiration?).
My only complaint is that the time between blackouts seems way too long than needed. And I found a pretty easy exploit that if you stand on a taller surface you can never get caught and can easily spot the impostors.
Overall love it, nice work!
OMG actually Deceit was not one of our inspirations for any kinds but now that you mention it really gives me the vibes, I loved that game!
You are probably the first person to get all the chievements so CONGRATULATIONS!
Regards the complaints, thank you for pointing that out, we actually have noticed for a while now the "never get caught" spots/exploits and it's something we will fix on further patches. The time, we have some people saying the other way around, that the lights on/out is too short, but we will try to get some statistics and feedback on that one point to have a more stable in between point for how long it should last, I actually agree that It's too long and not too short, but it sometomes depends on the person testing and what kind of gameplay they prefer or expect.
But anyways, Than you for the feedback it was really helpfull!
It's really fun, I like the fact that it looks like it's displayed on an old screen, it really adds to the atmosphere of the game !
The gun explosions were really great, even shooting the innocent ones felt satisfying (I'm a monster). It is really challenging to spot the fakes and the darkness and the weird sounds the monsters make bring out the tension. Really well done!
