I like that it gave the game a really interesting style and backstory. As a tower defence game, it is good. The concept for them sounds better on paper, and I think more could be done to explain why the sensor reading is inaccurate, especially early in the game before upgrades.

I've done it! Finished the game on second attempt! Great game, cool concept and nice take on the theme. Loved the upgrade system and sound design. Well done!

Your game is really enjoyable, like I really spent quite a bit of time doing the upgrades, got me hooked with that theme and visuals haha, great job to you both !!!

I really enjoyed this one! I can't think of anything I would change!

Great game visuals are so so good……… please check my game and review it

I love Tower defense and Idle games so rating this was a no brainer

Since i was asked to give extensive feedback, imma try:

1. I LOVED the game, i was lowkey glued to the screen trying to figure out which upgrades are the best for my survival. I love the concept (maybe i am just biased cuz i love tower defence games). The gameplay itself is great, and the art also fitting. I am looking forward to seeing how this game will continue. but as said, here some nitpicks:

2. In the intro, while the woman is giving instructions, the writing text sound is always on the same pitch. so it's basicly a spam of the same sfx, i'd suggest doing a random pitch value, so it feels more natural and doesn't get annoying that fast

3. Generally, i feel like the intro was way longer then it could have been, i gotta be honest, i don't think i read basicly anything there xD, but nontheless everything i needed to know was the following, so amybe you can make the intro shorter or sth:

-> survive 30 days

-> send cargoships to get more food and power

-> buy upgrades to help you survive. these upgrades are in multiple categories and server specific purposes like survival, healing, power generation, food generation, fish protection

-> there will be incomming enemies from all sides, you can click on enemies to lock your gun and kill those first, or let the gun work automaticly and shoot the closest enemies to the center (i think it worked like that, idk). there are also special enemies,

-> big orange enemies: while alive they don't attack you, but rather your returning cargo ships, so letting them stay alive will decrease your income significantly

-> camuflage: these enemies look like your returning cargoships, but when close enough it's revealed that they are actually enemy ships. The spawning of these can also be prevented via an upgrade

4. when the price was more the 4 digits, it wraped onto the next line which looked qutre bad

sp yeah, hope the feedback helps, if you need help, more feedback or playtesting i would be happy to help. love it

(also i feel like i might be the moist detailed comment XD)

Developer

Thanks for the comprehensive review (definitely the most detailed one)! We're glad you spent time to get the gist of Sub Sonar and noted down all the key points. The onboarding/tutorial process will need to change for sure. Good catches on the bugs and the sfx pitch as well. We will fix them in our next update and hope that when it's done you can give it another try :)

I'd love to ;)

Very polished experience that fits the theme well. We got taken out by a highly trained military operative (fish)  with only 4 days to retirement.

Developer

The aquatic operatives must have smelled the retirement from a mile away! Thanks for checking it out :)

Amazing mecanics! It really fits the tower defense mecanics, and its not that automatic, you actually have to focus on some attack. Great game!

Game was fun, especially once I realized I don't need to shoot everything and only threats that are actually aimed at the base. Visuals and audio are amazing and cool idea overall :D

Really cool game and well made, good vibe and visuals, i was a bit confused on how it works but still very cool

Really fun and simple incremental game and I mean that in a good way. The simplicity of it makes it super addictive. I played for a while, and the theme of the game is incredible great job.

Awesome game! The level of challenge is great-it keep you on your toes having to manage base upgrades while stopping incoming submarines at same time. Very cool!

Submitted(+1)

i was confused at first, but when i played more rounds i eventually got the gist of what to do. it is a very cool concept and the interface looks simple yet effective! i also like how cargo can also return with evil submarines, further conveying the theme further apart from identifying lifeforms. however, i was not able to beat the game due to the orange turrets (there were 4) taking my cargo when i needed it most for upgrades. overall, really good game but in my personal opinion i think it needs some balancing changes (or i might just be bad at strategy).

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing the game! We tried to make the game more challenging at end, but we get your point. The orange submarines are a difficult enemy, you can prioritize killing them with the left mouse click. Another approach is to upgrade the gun (not max) and at the end completely ignore the orange subs to destroy the damaging enemies. Both strategies are viable and can win the game.

The first run was frustrating, but when I understood what I should do I was having so much fun. Visuals and art style is unique and incredible. Amazing Job! one more thing, I don't feel the commander is looking at me.

A wonderfully made game. Good job!

This was fun! I didn't get why I need fish upgrade, but overall game is very cool!

Developer

Thanks so much, glad you had fun! The fish upgrade stops the turret from targeting friendly fish. It also stops it from targeting the shark, so you need a separate upgrade to mark sharks as enemies again.

Ohhh, I get it... So, anyway, I was able to pass game without it!

This is SO GOOD

Simple and fun! good work!

Pretty simple but very fun, had i bit of difficulty at the start but after a while i understood the flow of things.

It's a bit easy to forget to send the subs out and there's a little overlap when you go to 1000+ resources on the counter, apart from that, Good Game!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you got into the flow and had fun! It’s definitely easy to lose track of the subs. We tried to help with that by making the Sub and Upgrade buttons pulse when they are ready, and you can also leave the Sub panel open the entire time you play. Great catch on the 1000+ resource counter btw - we saw that overlap during playtest but ran out of time to patch it. We'll get it fixed in the next update :)
