The Biggest Challenge
The biggest challenge was turning my ideas into an understandable, genuinely interactive cooking game rather than a collection of attractive visual effects. The jam’s time limit was also unreal. I initially worked with Astra but hit my usage limits too quickly, so I moved to Sol. Given the scope of my imagination—and the long waits between prompts—I feel like I’m shipping something a little half-baked. Compared with my previous attempt at making a game with AI, this project made it clear that an ambitious concept like this needs more breathing room. I would have liked to have a deep pass at the writing and will try to polish this game up after the jam. It was really fun and really challenged me!
AI Tools Used
OpenAI Codex: GPT-5.6 Sol and Suno
Areas Where AI Was Used
AI did all the programming, debugging, responsive/mobile implementation, visual asset generation, dialogue and narrative iteration, gameplay prototyping, interface design, and music generation. I supplied the creative direction, themes, characters, references, editorial decisions, and extensive hands-on playtesting.
