The game looks and feels pretty great, and there's a fine game here, but it's a little repetitive. The minigame doesn't really get any harder or more challenging, it just gets longer. And the items in the store don't make the game any different either, they're just pure stats. I'd rather have some additional mechanics than a longer game. Great presentation,

Interesting game! I normally don’t play these incremental-style games but played this one through to the end (stream recording here in case you are interested in watching a playthrough of your game).

The presentation was very nice, though I agree with some of the other comments that it’s definitely more advanced than GameBoy (the voices and some of the visual effects). I think the progression did feel slow at times and I wasn’t sure what the end goal was or what the difference between the areas was. Regardless, I did enjoy it, good job!

This was incredible! The gameplay was snappy and responsive, the art was outstanding, the soundtrack was excellent! The only super minor nitpick I could find was that the real life voice takes me out of the gameboy feeling for a split second after a catch. Excellent work, especially for only 10 days!

Thank you so much for playing and thank you for the feedback. There were quite a few gameboy games back in the day that did utilize vocal samples and I wanted to capture some of those vibes since I fell in love with the crunchy recorded  audio!

100 percent! If that's the case it could just be my preference that I would have gone with more bit crush on the vocals then :)

Incredibly polished stuff! The soundtrack is some of the best I've heard in the jam, the art is fantastic, great UI/UX, and the vibes are just right! I wished there was a little more to the gameplay. As far as I could tell, there was no reason to select any of the fishing locations over the others despite there being a whole map for it. Just a little more gameplay inside and outside the fishing would really make this something special, but this is great work!

Thank you so much for playing! Yeah we would love to change up the gameplay if we have a second go at it haha. The other locations were originally going to have custom art for each location when you clicked into them but now there is just one key piece at each location and as you gain key pieces the dots disappear letting you know you have collected that ones key piece~

I think this game would be great on a gameboy. It's easy to come back to and keep playing (probably for hours) until you have all the rods and lures. Great music and great art! The effects are great in this and I love how they were made. I think it would be cool and interesting if you could show a description for all the rods and lures. Great stuff!

Although the simple gameplay isn't my cup of tea (I found it a bit repetitive), I can tell you put a lot of effort and passion into this simple, polished game. Its great visuals and sound perfectly capture the Game Boy vibes, I love the designs of the different treasures you can find and lures you can buy, serving as a key aspect for progression through selling them for money.

Maybe the shop could have had an indication that you already bought an item and have different types of fish that make it more difficult to keep on the hook, but these are my only other complaints.

Great job for thinking outside of the box, I wouldn't have expected a fishing game in this jam.

I know a fish who definitely can't be caught here, and he's a forgetful one who stars in my entry, which you can play if you like.

Love this; particularly on the polish done for the graphics and sound department! The transitions, even to little details like bubbles expanding while it's rising. Good job to the team!

Developer

thank you so much for playing! I had a ton of fun making the assets (Im glad you noticed the bubbles lmao)

Solid Game. Love the art!
Captured the gameboy vibe!

Amazing art, amazing music, and I found myself playing to the end.  Top notch.

Thank you so much again for playing and streaming my game! It was nice seeing how people work through the rods and lures

I have to say the color palette is amazing. At first I thought its more than 4 colors but then I looked closer and was surprised. Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I know its a funny color palette and it lets us get a lot of flexibility!

The presentation is top notch. Art, music and even screen transitions are incredible.

It took me a few tries to understand the gameplay and what I was doing. But once I'd worked it out, it's pretty fun!

Nice entry :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you had fun and like the jams and eye candy!

Music, art and presentation are top!

TBH I don't think I quite understood the gameplay.

I still had a lot of fun. Nice entry!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! We're glad you enjoyed the vibes~

The art and the idea is great however the progression is super difficult I played for a long time having only garbage, when I bought my first bait and my first rod the game became impossible, there must be something I didn't understand x)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I'm sorry that the progression felt too difficult! We wanted to make it so that in the beginning it takes a little bit of time collecting some money and then it starts to get easier as you go. When the fish turns around and you hear the audio cue that means it is fighting again you and if you continue to crank it will snap your line.  Thank you again for playing and for the feedback! I want to make another fishing game in the future and this definitely helps :D

Although i didn't play much of it, this was a quite fun take on a fishing game! i don't really understand why split the upgrades in basically 2 but ye :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! We wanted to split upgrades between lures and rods to give the game a little bit of length and also an excuse to draw some more sprites haha. I'm glad you liked it!

Insanely good take on the water loading screen and wiggly underwater gradient! Has to be the best part of the game for me. I adore the colors and the Gold Fishin' splash art. Could very well see myself playing this in the back seat while roadtripping as a kid. Congrats on a great entry

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the wiggly underwater effect (I achieved it by using Juice FX which is a great tool for creating 2d effects!) I also very much enjoyed the wiggle~

Great color palette and pixel work, I liked the art over all. That being said, there's some things going on graphically that looked much more SNES than GameBoy  and the voice samples kinda broke my handheld emersion.

Music was good and I'm looking forward to going back for some bigger fish after I rate some other games.

thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you liked the artwork and music :D
