As many others are saying, the concept of your lack of health becoming damage is very interesting, kudos for thinking of that. Alongside that mechanic, the game being a puzzle game (rather than an RPG, which I assumed from looks before playing) makes balancing your health fun rather than a chore. I appreciate how losing a fight doesn't mean starting completely over, even if that's only the case because it's a jam game. I hope you continue to work on this one!

It's a good game, but with how the numbers are currently, the fights drag out for a bit too long. The player doesn't have that much of a decision to make with how little cards they have to choose from, so usually, the animation of things blinking took longer than my turn, meaning that more of my time was spent doing nothing than something. I'd look into adjusting the number of cards the player can choose from, and the amount of types of cards (more than just hit, hide, spot, especially cards that aren't just changing numbers), as well as possibly adding an animation speed option that can speed up the blinking animations. But there's a good base for a game here, after some numbers-tuning and adding a bit more content, this could be really fun!

I could only start thanks to the comments explaining what buttons to press, since one of the buttons you have to press isn't listed in the controls for the game. I'd consider adding something in the description to help others get past the main menu.

The dialogue boxes were pretty clean, but other than that there isn't much to say. Polishing up what you have and then adding more to the story/adding more to do could lead to something good, though!

Incredible game, not a single thing to give criticism on. The art and music are obviously great, but I really appreciated a lot of the smaller details, like the items sliding when you drop them, the environmental details you can find off of the main path, the falling snow and still background, and the snow trail left behind the player. The gameplay is satisfying enough that the simplicity isn't really apparent. You also showed off a lot of mechanics already, so if you wanted to make a longer game, I'm sure you could. And the story was touching; you managed to say a lot with just a few words and some environmental details. I'm hoping you win this whole thing!

Great game! Very responsive and controlled movement along with good level design make the game pretty fun. Though, I'll admit that I only got to the top of the second screen in the ice level haha. There's nothing wrong with having a game similar to an existing game for a jam, but if you guys continue to work on this in the future, I'd look for some other mechanics to make your game stand out a bit more. Other than that, I agree that the diagonal pixels and mixels need some touching up. But ignoring those small critiques, you guys got something good here.

Amazing visuals and amazing gameplay. The gameplay loop was fun despite the combat being simple. I didn't understand the gold during the first run, but reading the description made its purpose pretty clear. I personally don't like that choosing an option on the side makes your attack worse, but it's a fine mechanic. If you expand on this game, I would love to see more item variety and more interactions with the backpack (gaining more spaces, rotating items), but for a jam this game rocks.

Fun and quick game with some interesting ideas. I didn't really like the darkness mechanic, but that might just be me. I feel like if my character is glowing, the light shouldn't be directional, or at least, the light should be a little more forgiving. I'd try bumping up the player's acceleration and invulnerability frames a little, too. It took me 3 tries to beat the game and each time I lost was due to a combination of not having vision, having poor movement because of that, and then taking multiple hits from the same enemy. With a bit more work, this could be pretty good!

The game looks and feels pretty great, and there's a fine game here, but it's a little repetitive. The minigame doesn't really get any harder or more challenging, it just gets longer. And the items in the store don't make the game any different either, they're just pure stats. I'd rather have some additional mechanics than a longer game. Great presentation,

Pretty fun game! Didn't take too long to beat. The variable jump height felt responsive and made the movement fun. The levels were well designed too, I especially liked the level that encouraged you to raise the water quicker. The presentation could use some work - the cover art and no music on the title screen didn't get my hopes up, but the game really subverted my expectations.
