This *looks* like a gameboy game, like I could imagine this being one of those lesser known games that filled the walls in a Toys R Us as a kid. Neat little game. The only complaint I had was sometimes the moles got stuck on edges and needed a little help, but otherwise it was solid gameplay. Good job!

How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The world ended and we've reverted back to the Good Old Gold Standard, and you're in charge of digging it up from the ruins of the planet underground.

Very addictive, I've played for ~30 minutes. I love color schema change on depth, sound and visuals. Very interesting idea. Great game!
Seems interesting but was unplayable for me to due to some kind of shaking bug, where upon loading in, the screen would start shaking so intensely and increasingly in severity that the game was entirely unplayable. Tried both the web and downloaded (windows) versions and the same case applied. Feels unfortunate because this game seems very cool!
Can you give me information on your specs? I remember that only happening one one specific build, but that's not the published one currently (if you downloaded it before voting started that might explain it but that wouldn't explain the web version). The original cause of that was related to audio stream mixing and each enemy spawned had its own InteractiveAudioStream and that compounded to cause such bad lag the camera would be jittering up and down non-stop (never figured out why, fixed the audio issue and never saw it again).
Spent a couple hours on this. I definitely should have read the tips first haha. It was a bit hard to figure out at first, I think some of the stuff on the page maybe could have been communicated in game. Once I got the hang of how it worked, I got pretty into it and ended up spending quite a bit of time with it. The artstyle is pretty unique, and the portraits have a good vibe. I will say I was a little confused when they'd pop up sometimes during gameplay, I think mostly because you've got so many different things going on here it is just a little overwhelming at first. The Page definitely helps with this, of course.
I saw your livestream and I hoped I would see it! It was really well polished and it was a lot of fun. It could totally be a gameboy game!
I love me some worker placement/management games! I really like the gameplay loop on this one.
All my family was dead, I could not afford to live let alone a mole or a drill upgrade, I spent days trying to earn money only for it all to disappear with everyday expenses.
10/10 capitalism simulator.
Jokes aside : the art is lovely, the sound design is on point and the game feels very gameboy-y.
I was personally very frustrated by the "Paper please" mechanics, but I was also frustrated by the original game so I guess that's well made :D
Another source of frustration was that without a mole, I kept digging straight down only to stumble upon a block I could not mine anymore, and I could do nothing but give up and go all the way back up to try again in a different spot. It did not help that the few I had at the start were killed by perfectly immobile boulders (I would have perfectly understood if it was by a falling or rolling one). And since every new mole was more expensive than the last even when yours die, you're a bit discouraged to buy new ones.
That said, these are just personal frustration and small details, the game is great, it looks great, it's quirky and for a game jam it is quite polished. The palette swaps when you get deeper is a nice touch.
Definitely captured the Gameboy soul! Fun gameplay and mechanics! Pretty cool. Nice work!
