Well i got to the boss at least. I'm not sure if anybody is beating that, but nevertheless solid entry. There is enough abilities and upgrades here to were i can actually form a strategy around the enemies. I'm not 100% sure, but i think the upgrades only appear ONCE after combat ends, even if you defeat multiple enemies at a time. It should probably give upgrades back to back after finishing a large combat encounter.
Thank you for playing! Yes, my original plan was to do a level system for the player where you would receive a quantity of exp for every enemy in the battle, but I ran out of time and had to finish other things so it could be at least playable. Also, the game/level design isn't very good since I didn't have time to playtest it, that's why the boss is almost impossible, I was only able to beat it using 2x dart modules + 2x teleport modules with full crit + damage upgrades, I'm updating the game sometime after the jam ends with some changes related to that, thank you again for the feedback!!!
Pretty fun entry, love it!, the audio effects sound great, and the hexagon style is very cool. The module system is also a nice touch, great game overall.
I like it, nice & simple, I didn't get to the boss but I read the description and I can see that this has a lot of potential, hope you keep working on it! Character designs are cool, theming is nice. All it needs is some cool techno music.
Extremely cool visuals, very nice sound design. Sometime it wasnt clear to me when I could move and attack or just move. Also sometimes the extra options were not available to be used and I couldnt figure out why. The simplicity of the controls and combat make it very enjoyable, but having less randomness in the enemys pathfinding would be nice.
Overall peak submission to the jam! Keep up the good work
Thank you for playing! Yes, I tried to make the enemies flee when below 5 of hp but this can be very boring in the beginning of the game, the extra options I think you're refering to the modules, they have a cooldown to use and in this build the cooldown is persistent between battles, I will change that in an update so it's not persistent, anyway thanks for your feedback!!
I loved this one. You mentioned you were considering developing it further based on the reception, and I think you totally should. Like the others in the comments, I also couldn't get past level 3, but I'm sure you'll be able to balance that out with more testing. This type of game is extremely scalable, and I have a hunch that you've already got a lot of ideas. Even in this simpler jam state though it feels great to play. The hex grid is super impressive too, I have looked into making those in the past and it seems like a big undertaking (thanks for linking the guide you used for that btw). One quick change I would suggest is making more gaps in the map so it's easier to corner enemies or bottleneck them a bit.
I hope you keep working on this, i'd love to play with more builds.
Thank you for playing!!! I'm glad you found it worthy of more updates, and you're right, I already have a lot of ideas to implement but I'm invested now on refactoring the code and solving bugs, because I've made a mess in the last two days of jam to make it at least playable. It was fun to build the hex grid logic, you should try it someday. thank you again for the feedback!!
Great submission for the game jam! I played up till level 3, then enemies scaled out of my control. I really dig the simplicity of attack OR movement, the only thing I missed was more types of enemies (and maybe shorter rounds), to give it a little more depth in where I should move.
Thank you for playing! Indeed stage 3 (the last one) is much harder than I thought, it's basically due to me not having time to playtest the game before submissions due, myself could only beat this version of the game with 2 teleport modules + 2 dart modules and full damage + crit, but I'm already working on a post-jam version with better progression, thank you for the feedback.
i saw your game on discord and i liked the 3d grid with that glow, i would put an indicator on when the boss would appear
That's a very good result for a solo dev! A little bit of UI could do things more clear - like health bar, for example. I've got beaten and didn't even understand where I had to stop mashing and run away :D But it's fun!
Thank you for playing! Yeah I was trying to make some UI hours before submission due, I tried to implement a health bar wwith simple styleboxes but it couldn't fit on the game style, would be better to fit a pixel art UI but I wouldn't have time for that ;/ anyway I'm working on a post-jam version with everything I've had not enough time to implement in the jam version. Thanks for the feedback again!
I was looking forward to trying this game, I think you got good potential and a little scope management would do wonders, Good job!
Based on your discription you overscoped a bit but I still think this is an impressive project for a solo dev! I'm pretty sure I lost based on health but there was very little indication of what happened other than a restart.
