Congrats on your second game! I can see improvement comparing to the first one (yes, I checked it just to remember, although it didn't affect my rating), I think you learned a lot this time (I was also focused on blender a lot during this jam, and am also a beginner) again. As other said, the timer could start with lower value or drop faster (even if it was 1000 less at the end it would still be long for a jam game). I played it for a solid 10 minutes and it became a bit repetitive, but it definitely has potential. I see your idea and where you wanted to get (I think?), and I see that you get closer and closer to not overscoping for a jam (something that I am also still learning). Once again, congrats on your achievement, I will try to play your next game during next jam as well if you decide to participate!
Thanks a lot for the comment and feedback! Honestly I must admit I didn't think of downscoping weirdly enough, so thanks a lot for that too! This month I might not manage to make a game, but I'll try to go through the ones submitted! Also I didn't focus on you being a beginner, so I would like to use this to give more praise to your game design and planning! They seemed like asset and scope constrained games from a designer if I had to guess.
Did the space bar also summon helpers, or did I imagine that?
Whoops... Thanks for catching that!
My helpers didn’t seem to do anything? Enjoyed the art style and the pixel-textured models and environment looked great! I think some camera controls and more feedback for everything would go a long way for the experience. Failed purchase gets a red x and buzzer, successful purchase gets a green check and cha-ching, for example.
Thanks a lot for the comment! Sorry for the late response but I really wanted to say Thanks for the feedback!
I overfocused with learning 3d stuff, and yeah, good sfx and effects would go a long way. Thanks a lot for the tips, especially since they are simple and I can already feel how much better it would be with them!
Nice concept, but the timer was faaaar too big. I had a ton of helpers sitting around because the factory couldn't make widgets fast enough, but there was still a ton of time ticking away. The repetitive music also got annoying pretty fast.
I could see this being a progressive system where you start off with a small target score and a small timer, then having stages where those number increase and you have to get more efficient.
Good job overall :D
Thanks a lot for the comment! As for the music, yeah, sorry for that, I just made anything to be there too quickly. Maybe it would be better off without it. Also thanks for the progression idea! I focused too much on making it a single session game and didn't think of breaking it into short stages.
Like you've commented the theme could have been implemented better but I get what you were going for with the factory running out of power. But I think it could have been losing power a bit faster so it would feel more imminent.
Thanks a lot for the comment! Sorry for the late response, but just wanted to say thanks. The faster and shorter timer and other design thoughts from the comments really help and I didn't picture it that way while developing the game. I hope to use that next jam. Thanks again for the comment!
I’m sorry but i feel like i must be missing something, I spent the whole time just going in a circle between the crystal spitting thing and the window and mashing enter for bots and didn’t seem to have any imminent doom. Happy to try again if you can say what i’m missing.
Thanks for pointing that out! Honestly I could've done it better.
The idea was that the factory is closing/running out of energy, and you can use the last bits right before the doom. Debugging and trying to focus on the incremental part made me forget to make it fit the theme.
