It's a good game, but with how the numbers are currently, the fights drag out for a bit too long. The player doesn't have that much of a decision to make with how little cards they have to choose from, so usually, the animation of things blinking took longer than my turn, meaning that more of my time was spent doing nothing than something. I'd look into adjusting the number of cards the player can choose from, and the amount of types of cards (more than just hit, hide, spot, especially cards that aren't just changing numbers), as well as possibly adding an animation speed option that can speed up the blinking animations. But there's a good base for a game here, after some numbers-tuning and adding a bit more content, this could be really fun!

This had that same addictive feeling to it similar to games like Balatro and really like the design of everything! The sound track did make me think of something a bit more like what would be on a SNES, but still sounded awesome. I was a little confused about its relation to the secondary theme though.
I got an insane infinite rock-splitting synergy at the end, and I sat there watching the final boss get pelted for minutes, smiling ear to ear. Very fun. Well done, and I wish you two the best.
P.S., in my opinion, the unluckiness is part of the game's charm. I know the slow drag of the sea battles might tip off some, but it honestly just felt that much more authentic to real tabletops, haha
Quite fun Really captured the Gameboy's soul with that art and soundtrack!
Nice game! As a card-game player, this one is a really creative one. Like a "Battleship" in format of cards! Unfortunately, the game is a little too based on luck, which is, generally, not a good thing to have in a game. But, for a jam game that is played against the computer, it's totally fine!
The "!!!" alert to make you think better before attacking is a good way to try to compensate to luck base.
The art and music for the game is nice too, really neat!
Had a good time playing it. Congrats!!
A nice idea, albeit a questionable execution? My shots would miss 9 times out of 10, and the enemies shots would rarely even land on my ship.. I feel like a lot of the luck-based elements slow down the pacing of the fights dramatically, and a lot of the time your actions mean nothing because you have a big chance of missing your shots. Either the HP of the units is too high (both player and enemy) for the hits to feel impactful, either the luck aspect needs to be dialed back a tad.
Aside from that, it's a graphically pleasing game with a nice approach on music. All and all, it earns a "Pas mal!" from me :)
Cool game! Idk if it's a bug or what but sometimes my boat would just shoot rocks ~4-8 times before moving forward. I could only tell sometimes what was actually happening but the enemy HP was going down so I was doing something right! It would've been helpful to put a little splash text on the bottom that tells the player explicitly what is happening. It was tricky trying to intuit the mechanics with such primitive visuals.
I enjoyed the card-battling gameplay! It reminded me a lot of Pokémon, with strategies like hiding behind waves to defend myself or getting more attack cards and attributes.
I DEFEATED THE KRAKEN that felt really cool, it feels nostalgic but i can't quite put my finger on what game is it reminding me of but it felt like a wave of nostalgia when i was fighting that kraken, that was really fun, love the gameplay and artstyle and music, it was a lil confusing at first but playing a bit and giving the description a peak made me get it and it was really really fun!
It's an impressing game for such a small team. Art is great and clean, music is gameboyish :). It could be faster considering how high is the chance to miss and there could be more than 2 cards from the beginning. Overall my rating is about 4/5 stars. Good job!
Charming art and music. The game incorporates the theme well and the cards & coins format even gives it some replayability. Congrats on the submission!
PS: Excellent nom X)
