Great color palette, and a nice art style! As others have already suggested, adding different types of pirates (like maybe some who stay away and shoot arrows) would be cool. It would also be nice if you could block attacks. Had a lot of fun, keep it going!

The art and combat effects are really nice, and hitting enemies feels surprisingly satisfying.

I think the main thing holding it back is the lack of variety. Fighting the same enemy over and over gets repetitive pretty quickly, and the enemies rarely put enough pressure on you to make the fights feel dangerous.

With a bit more enemy variety and more aggressive encounters, I think the combat could become much more engaging.

Art was amazing, sound effects were good, I enjoyed the gameplay but wished there were more enemy types or a goal to get to.  Maybe a boss fight after X enemies?  But for a game jam game that's forgivable, just ideas for the future.  Good job!

Good looking pixel art and animations.  Like others said, add some progression of some kind and you'll have a game on your hands here.  Maybe have an enemy variant that steals the gold horde instead of attacking you... then the player has to balance defending themselves and defending the gold.

GREAT graphics and animations. Gameplay was fun, although it seems incomplete; the game could do with a goal, like kill this many enemies and you get a cutscene that's a drawing of Sigvard standign attop the dead enemies as the end (simple idea).  The game does have gameboy soul and interprets the "old gold" theme pretty well. Good job!

The art in this game is fantastic!

This was a neat little game! The sprite deign was really neat and expressive, and the 3 lane combat setup allowed for a lot more mobility than I'm used to in beat 'em up style games. Nice job!

Absolutely love the sprite designs and the music / SFX, I agree with others that it would be nice to see a ramp up in difficulty, but for the short timeframe I think this is a neat little game!

This 3-lane movement-and-attack style is really cool, and the character sprite looks great too! You could add more enemy types to flesh the game out further! Also, I think the kill count should be shown during gameplay instead of only on the results screen after finishing. Honestly, the coins restoring health makes the game a bit too easy — you could lower the coin drop rate.  The music fits really well too, great work!

Thank you ! we really appreciate ! ๐Ÿ˜

We wanted to add 1 or 2 ennemies (a gunner from range and a grappler) for better diversity and strategy, but honnestly we were short with the delays... ๐Ÿ˜…

Yes, there are too many coins compared to the threat, that's an issue. We wanted to make the skeleton protecting the treasure to heal when you get back coins, but that's too much !

Very beautiful sprites and your palette is lovely! This was a pretty neat lil' game. It's always nice to see protagonist skeletons!

Developer

Thank you, that's nice to hear ! ๐Ÿ˜

Love the palette, and nice sprites. It just either got overwhelmed by enemies or was able to kill them one by one without any trouble, so some kind of difficulty ramp up and leveling system would have been cool. Also some of the coins flew of screen which i guess technically made the resolution bigger than 160x144 even if it wasn't intentional. Really love that there's setting to change the volume though!

Thank you for your feedback ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, we had a some difficulties to balance the game, we need to improve this topic !
