Really cute game, love the simplicity. My only critique is that I'm not a fan in general of having to play games that mix use of both keyboard and mouse if it's not necessary. Would have been smoother if we could press space bar say to pickup and drop instead of click. Good idea all round though and again the simple graphics style is exactly the kind of thing I'm wanting to try, particularly the animations of the character sprite. You could easily expand this as well in to a full on house flipper style game.
Thanks for the feedback, that's a good note about the controls. I usually try to make sure my games support multiple schemes, but the timing on jams doesn't always make it possible.
I've been experimenting a bit with this animation style, it's a good way to cheat by using simpler assets. You probably noticed the character sprites used only a single frame, the rest is achieved through simple translations which most engines expose through an animation timeline.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah I could tell what was happening with the frames, massively simple but also highly effective.
No problem, it's been a good jam :)
Okay, I liked style and music, but game is tedious. Really
I feel the same way cleaning my house
Thanks for playing!
haha i get the point
Great work! I really like this interpretation of the theme.
Only suggestion I can offer that hasn't already been said is that I think the floor and wall textures are fighting too much for the visual attention. I think it would be easily enough fixed by making the walls darker. Other than that, it's a really cute style!
Totally agree with you, the art direction is not very cohesive and could use a lot of love. I'll have to try out darkening the walls, or maybe even refining the palette in general
Thanks for playing!
Loved the game! It had a really easy to understand objective along with the fact that I liked the timer in the top right. The only things I could really say was that it was hard from a first perspective to tell that the dirty shirts were actually dirty shirts but the text that shows in the bottom left really helped. Good Work!
To be honest, I had a hard time identifying some of my sprites when I played myself. I don't normally do my own art and I'm trying a new style, so I thought I should include the text for sanity
Thanks for playing!
nice game with a pretty straightforward objective 👍. I really liked the menu and that the player can change like all the settings but it was also kinda annoying that i could pickup items of different types of stuff together but then when i have to place them in their places i have to do them in the order i picked them up, so i cannot just drop all the trash i have at once if i accidentally picked up a fork while picking up the trash
I know what you mean, the game doesn't provide as much feedback on what you're interacting with as I'd like. There is a drop button in case you do pick up something you don't want, but it can bug out a lot of the time.
I see you also used Godot for your game. The menu is powered by the Maaack's Template plugin from the AssetLib. It was my first time actually using a plugin in a project, and it was much easier than I thought it would be. It did take some time to figure it out, but now that I know it'll free up a lot of time in my next jam to focus on the game instead of fiddling with menus.
Thanks for playing!
yeah, it was also my first time making a game with godot. Honestly, a fun engine, will be trying to learn it more.
