How does your game meet GBJam's theme
We interpreted "Old Gold" as the memories from an old person who's dying and he's thinking about his life. That things like grandchildren, memorable items from mother and farther or the wedding were things that made life golden. So "Old Gold" refers to memories throughout his life that made everything enjoyable.

This reminds me of To The Moon and has potential to do something similar. I wasn't able to get very far at all because the core mechanics aren't polished: the sword is slow to react and isn't intuitive with directional facing, enemies are too fast and too many, and enemy behavior is too aggressive (I can't attack them when they are on top of me).
I don't dislike the game. I see the vision and would love to play a more polished and controlled version!
I liked what little I saw, but that was *very* little. The first enemies just *charged* at me and killed me in seconds. The sword was very hard to use, didn't deal much damage, and didn't do any knockback, so it didn't stop them from just sitting on me and draining my health instantly.
Pretty cool game, and the implementation of the theme is very unique too! I like the way you placed the game inside a gameboy. I unfortunately was also a victim to the bug where buying gun reload speed disables it, but I was able to beat it nonetheless.
Good job!
Thank you for playing!
We'll check the bug after the game jam :)
Grampa I don't think shoving the oar into the gun will improve it's reload speed!
This was a fun game, a very neat way to implement the theming! Got the whole Gameboy soul nailed down, sound and look!
I did stumble upon a little bug where if you were to upgrade the attack speed of the gun or melee, they just stopped all together. Good joj!
Hi!
The weapons you're using are super weapons! :D
Thanks for the bug report! We'll check it after the jam ratings end. :)
Really fantastic vibes! It looks and sounds just like a Gameboy game. I wish I could have gotten further! Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to stop the enemies from getting on top of me and hitting me multiple times in a row =/
Indeed! Some enemies are a bit aggressive. The "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" type of enemy. :-)
Thank you playing!
This is very much a Game Boy game, from the graphics up to the difficulty (those flying buggers hit hard and fast). Getting the hang of the sword was great (turning around for a brief moment, using it, then continuing to run for my dear life lol).
The interpretation of the theme is great! I would definitely play the final version
Unfortunately, I soft-locked myself twice by pressing start when collecting a chest :(, rendering my progress useless.
Thank you very much for your feedback!
Sorry to hear you encountered that bug. This has not been caught so far, thank you for the report.
I really like the graphics and the soundtrack. But it's really a bit difficult. Maybe if you have time you could also test out my game?: /jam/gbjam-14/rate/5032964#post-17407905
Thank your very much for your feedback!
The UI looks great and the whole presentation has a strong style. The combat is fast and a bit tough but it keeps the energy high and the game feels lively. (pls play my game)
Thank you!
Brooo, the UI looks so cool ! but the game it is really difficulty, the combat i mean, the enemies are so fastt ! BUT GOODDD 5/5
Thank you!
The UI has been done by MOMONGA. :-)
