WOW great game everyone! I loved the environment and the style was nicely executed. Sounds were good, and would have loved a VO version of the game.
The above average goob! I wish we had more time so we could have voice-overs. But we had to start mid-jam due to sicknesses. Otherwise we would have had VO’s! Thanks for playing!
This is incredibly clever - the 'reveal' element of the phone and prints and such are SO ENJOYABLE - i wanted to dust everything, lift everything, search for everything, and read everything!! Excellent job, especially with the use of colour Plays very smooth too
I’m glad to hear you had fun discovering around and liked our art-style! Kani did a really good job with his shader magic!
This is so stylish. The graphic style is so nice and fits so well, a lot of work there alone. So many nice touches as well, lots to do and explore. I will be coming back to this one again as I think there is a lot more to find and I really want to get to the end. Another very slick well put together game. The logo as well is very clever.
I’m glad you liked the game! I was originally not gonna spend that much time in the jam. But then I did and after making most songs, I realized I had much more time, so I added more sfx and extra features than planned. and so did cheese and Kani eventually as we had the main game done 5 hours before the deadline! :D
Firstly love the logo, sometimes I see a cats face other times I see the hat and coat of a detective, very clever. The whole art style is perfect for the game and love the fade in that you have. Very very slickly done game.
Thank you kindly for the nice words, glad you liked it!
First, I really enjoyed knocking thins off the counter. For some reason I had trouble pouring the <redacted> not sure if it was a me problem or a mechanic problem. The atmosphere and noir feel of the game was quite nice. I'm not the best at these type of games, so got a little confused and didn't find the end in about an hour or play time. Well done.
Thanks for playing! That was unfortunately a mechanic problem i saw multiple people have now. The collision detection is on the mouse position, not the object you're holding, which seems counterintuitive in retrospect :D
Really great project, well done! My main complaint is how my "ending" happened... I think found all the clues and had 3 reds on one person. I get that I could have been wrong on 1+ of those things, but the way the ending is, it's pretty demotivating... no info, just "case ruined" and "gg". I'm guessing I mis-attributed something as suss or not, but that kind of feels like a guessing game. Some items/clue are a bit obtuse, some are confusing/misleading, though I feel like that's kind of par for the course for this type of game (point/click adventure with inventory system). Other than that, I really liked exploring this world and trying to find all the clues, and really liked the art and style. Congrats!
Thanks for playing. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I agree that the phone clues all look a bit too sus as well. But I thought it was just me. (Not my part of the project) We also were a bit too scared the game was too easy but now it may have become a bit too difficult. The reason why there is no clear “who actually did it etc” is bcz the police is not gonna tell you who did it. To them you’re just a random cat!
SPOILER: If you let the bird call (drag phone to bird), it can talk to the police and gives more info. It also gives you an alternate good ending! But most might not realize the bird is actually talking human language :D
Heh, from the perspective of playing it, there was no reason for me to expect (while thinking I had solved the case) that it would be about how I call. It wasn't even on my mind, I just cared about whether I guessed the correct suspect or not, and the game was telling me that's what it was about. I think it also goes against something that has been in most point-n-click adventure games since the 2000s, which is that usually you can't get to a dead end through bad choices, you will always eventually make it if you try everything. It's either that or your choices matter all along and you learn that early. In your project, up until the phone call, your game followed this unwritten rule as well, so it feels arbitrary to throw that in there at the end for that reason as well.
Anyway, not a big deal either. :) Congrats again on a great project!
Oh, we had internal discussions about dead ends, soft locks and canonical truths to no end. But given the scope, time frame and the fact that basically everything in this game was done from scratch, every decision was final in its first iteration.
Even though I still like the Cluedo inspired randomization of the perpetrator and clues it did hamper the writing a lot. Not only did we have to have two versions of every letter and voice memo depending on if the person was to be exonerated by the clue, they also had to be logically consistent in either combination.
Anyway, thanks for playing!
It's amazing
You're amazing :D
Nice little point & click detective game with chill music and really nice use of items for uncovering/gathering the evidence in the various scenes, i didn't solve the case but will be going back for another attempt.
Thank you! It’s the most amount of music I made in a short period of time. I’m still learning a lot but I’m glad you found it chill! Glad you also liked the game!
Super creative and fun little game, the art was gorgeous, and the overall vibe was great. Definitely a lot of reading XD Nice puzzle solving mechanics too. Didn't take me too long to get out of the main menu and int othe actual game.
We wanted to add voice-overs but I’m not sure if people liked constant meowing /s. Joke aside, we wanted to add voice-overs but didn’t end up having the time for it. I’m glad you liked our game and had fun with it!
Ironically, every streamer I watched seemed to skip over the item descriptions and later ended up asking what this or that tool was again xD We put off finishing the hotbar way too much. I think people would have struggled far less with finding clues if they were still able to read item descriptions later on. Yeah yeah, we put item explanations in the page description afterwards, but let's be real: nobody reads those. Escpecially while already playing :D
I had fun playing this even if I did fail to solve the case every time but there's something nice about the game that makes me want to keep trying until I do solve it. Really nice game, I like it a lot
Thank you kindly for playing! The game ended up being a bit more difficult than anticipated as we already know the clues and we also were scared it was too easy :D
Lovely game. I'm terrible at playing this, my brain can't understand, but I'll try again when I've got a bit more time - it's definitely got appeal. Excellent effort! (also, loved the ref to Kryokit salvation forklift ^_^)
Hehe yeah we added a looot of easter eggs to many streamers, games, viewers and fun thigns in general. I guess you could just play a game of finding all easter eggs alone and be busy for a while, whoops :D Thanks for playing! Glad ya liked it
mm yees, I got stuck, but it looks nice!
where did ya get stuck? If ya want a hint you can find some in the description :p Thx for playing Mana!!
I had to do the parkour to the locked room, but I couldn't find out how to do it (I oopened a shutter though!)
SPOILER: By going outside frank/victim room (main menu scene which doubles as a street scene) and then above frank’s window is another window! Visible with flashlight, or if you knocked on the door, the lights are also on. (You opening the door made him wake up)
I am not a fan of this type of games, but gave it a try. It took almost hour for me to reach the end. But I think I solved something :)
I like the art - I believe it's well suited for this detective style game. And idea of cat detective is also very nice, could develop into bigger game with several versions of crime scenes.
Can develop in the John Whiskers franchise :P Thx for playing! Glad ya enjoyed it!
The game is well built with art, music, and story. I am terrible at detective games, but this kept me entertained. I did NOT solve anything, and could not find one of the tools. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys detective games!
if ya want a tip, the tools were in Frank’s room slightly hidden somewhere :D Thanks for playing!
It helps checking dark areas with the flashlight ;D Which you can find just outside the apartment
Wow what a great game. I must admit I never managed the good ending but I really sunk a lot of time into this lol fustrated I couldnt figure out the final clue/s. I am really happy I got to play this, the story, mechanics and everything was really impressive. Great job!
Thank you kindly for the nice words and for playing! It is difficult to balance the difficulty of a murder misery game if you know the answer to the clues :D Maybe it’s a bit too difficult to get the best ending.
Na it is purrrfect id love to play more!
Phews. I was cared it was gonna be a CATastrophe :p
We made the best ending way too difficult. Nothing hints to it and it is counter to how this one mechanic works in all other cases =/
