I didn't think I'd play though the whole thing, but I found myself wanting to complete it as I loved the writing and art style. Truly a beautiful game. Great work!

a heartfelt game made with care and love, I genuinely enjoyed it.

the writing was wonderful! when the old man spoke of his late wife, how she left so abruptly without consent. the line about how a name can feel so new, belonging to someone so familiar.

the ways things change around us can be distressing and new, but acceptance of that truly brings about a new perspective. thank you for making this! (I teared up ;-; also, very clever to fit the limitation into the narrative instead of the gameplay!)

This game is incredible! My jaw dropped at the art, and I really loved the story the game told. Awesome submission :D

It was really clever how you fit the limitation into the story rather than the gameplay. The art's great and the story is so flushed out, so it's surprising that the gameplay is actually good too.

what can i say, we’re both story game loving people ✌️ so glad to hear you enjoyed the game, thank you for playing! ^^

Really impressive entry: narrative, art and gameplay were all so on point! I loved the designs of all the different characters appearing on their doorsteps, and the cooking mini game was super satisfying. My favorite part was stamping the boxes - such a nice touch. Congrats on your wonderful game!

Developer

thanks so much for enjoying our game! 🩷 i think little details add a lot to games, so i’m glad you like the stamping as much as I did! :D

Incredibly well polished and large play-time for a game jam! Really enjoyed the pie baking process. The artwork are so cute. Pretty unique limitation usage of looking away from someone for years and they changed.

Developer

Ahhh thank you for your kind words!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!!!!

The page was really pretty, and the game aswell, the atmosphere was the best part, not just the art but the feeling of nostalgia and sadness too! This was a very good experience.

I was feeling melancholic during the conversation with the dad and then the credits rolled in and I laughed out loud with:

"dis shit hard af"

.·°՞(≧ᗜ≦)՞°·.

I think many people have commented already how gorgeous your art is,cher_reii, and it is. I think beyond looking nice, you have an eye for composition and storytelling through your art.

Of course, I also commend the gameplay and programming of the game. I do have a request, miss tullie. Can you maybe move the trash trigger to the bottom-left or even top-left instead of it being on the center? I had a heart attack when all my efforts disappeared trying to put the pie into the box. The pie container and the box are dangerously close to the trash.

(˶˃ᆺ˂˶)

You both have made a wonderful game! I am excited to see what you guys will come up next time

(˶ᵔᗜᵔ˶)ノ゙

Developer

LOL i’ve gotten a couple comments about the trash can. i’ll definitely change that in a future update! so sorry to hear about your pie 🤣

thanks so much for the lovely comment, so happy to hear you enjoyed this! <3

WOW! This was art (literally)! The style and vibe of this game is the best ive seen this jam. I loved this eventhough this isnt even my usual type of game. It had such a emotional story that gripped me, making  me want to play more! I finished it, keep up the amazing work :D

Developer (1 edit)

haha the fact that this isn’t your usual type of game makes your praise even more flattering! thanks so much for enjoying our game ^^/

Really nice work here.  Emotional and relatable and very human.  Right on theme and great interpretation of the limitation.  The stories and intrigue of who would order a pie next kept me making more.  The art is AMAZING for such a short jam this is incredibly polished work, well done!!

Developer

so happy to hear you enjoyed the characters! thank you for playing! 🩷

Made me shed a couple of tears.
I have been away from home for a while and have not been able to travel for quite a while. This made me miss my home and my family. Thank you for sharing this beautiful game!

The story is really well written, and the visuals are wonderful! i absolutely love the art style and the small animations here, and the use of the limitation on the story is clever. Nice work!

Developer

thanks so much for playing! the way you used the limitation in Your game was clever 🫵

Art and story fits the theme and limitation perfectly here. The characters are adorable and the ending echoes with the game title, really touching and heartwarming. Cooking recipes seems pretty realistic yet simple enough to learn and push the story. Amazing VN and thanks for making this! ❤︎

Also funny reference to the Hot Beach Babes game XD

Developer(+1)

i’m relieved the recipes were simple enough to follow! i looked at sm pie recipes when planning the cooking gameplay haha!

thank you for enjoying this game and our beach babes game, as well. so cool to see someone recognize her 🤣🩷

Beautiful art and the gameplay is so intuitive! I never felt confused on trying to find any of the ingredients and it was fun putting the pies together. The story is short and sweet and captures the theme of the game jam really well! I really like the continuity between your game jam stories as well. Wonderfully polished and fun game!

Developer(+1)

HAHA omg thank you for enjoying both of our games! 🙏 it’s really cool when people recognize Eloise! so glad to hear you enjoyed this! <3
