The pixel art looks great. Loved the little details like the trees gently swaying, and the ghosts were super adorable too. Shrimpy ain't wrong though, French bread is pretty fire XD. Hopefully those glasses make things better lol. I really like the animal ghost idea, and had a lot of fun wandering around meeting all the ghosties and trying to figure out which trinket belonged to who. The trees changing with time was nicely done too. The little leaf-clearing minigame was fun as well. Something really satisfying about brushing all those leaves away to see what was hiding underneath. Cute game, had fun with it!
Thank you so much for playing and I'm glad you liked it ! :)
the body is round
cute game!!!
Thank you for playing :)
I really enjoyed the concept of finding lost trinkets and delivering them to the rest of the little ghosts! I think having a few less characters and a little bit more polish would have really helped this game.
Just some things I noticed:
As others said, I got trapped in dialogue with the Dean, and couldn't exit unless I went and found some leaves :(
I got 6/9 trinkets and around half of the acorns needed before the game ended on me; it would have been nice to be able to keep playing in one playthrough until I got all the trinkets and all the acorns! It also would have been nice to have a tracker for how many acorns I have, and some sort of indication of how many I needed to get.
For audio, it would have been really nice to have the music play the entire time in the overworld! It felt a little bit lonely without music!
I also found it a little difficult to find trees with leaves? Maybe I was just unlucky, but I'd search the whole map, and eventually find 3 or more trees huddled together with leaves; then I'd search, and after finishing searching, the trees that had leaves would randomize again!
It wasn't entirely clear when the day ends; is it after searching through a certain number of leaf piles? Is it after a certain amount of real life time passes?
Mostly, I really enjoyed the dialogue with all the ghosts, although I was a bit unsure whether the orange ghost was supposed to be speaking partially in English and partially in French, or if this was a mistake. Luckily, I can understand a bit of French, so I was able to surmise the ghost was really upset about the lack of BREAD!! It would have been cute to have this translated to English so more people can understand it!
I also noticed that once an item is deliverable, the wrong button would be highlighted; if I hovered over "End conversation", the "I found it!" button would be highlighted. The buttons still worked as intended, though.
Overall, this game was a really cute and enjoyable experience - I loved the music and the art too! - but the polish and consistency was lacking just a little too much.
Thank you for playing ! And I wanted to thank you also for this really full feedback, I did missed some time to finish everything. I note everything to improve it and polish it. :)
Cute game!! The art is very cute and the ghost's dialouge is very sweet. the concept of finding acorns and trinkets itself is honestly very very nice. My only issue was polish, really. There was a few bugs that kept the dialouge box in the screen, and I struggled to talk with the ghosts themselves.
Thanks so much for the nice feedback !
I'll keep everything in mind to polish the game :)
I like the little ghostie designs and the concept, but this could defo use a lot more polish. The sound effects and music are quite inconsistent, and as others have said there are conversations that don't give you an option to leave. It was quite difficult to interact with other characters too, as you would have to be in such a tiny specific area. Also the way the text box covers up most of the screen - I wanna see those ghosts!!! I would love to see this more developed because I love the art and the idea of finding cute trinkets for cute ghosts. Thanks for sharing your game!
Thanks so much for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it nevertheless !
I'll definitly keep in mind everything and polish it. :)
This is pretty good! I liked the run speed of Squibbley. I thought the leaf clearing minigame was the best part, I enjoyed the mechanic of pulling with the mouse pointer in different directions. It felt appropriately sweep-y. The conversation UI is a little rough, and at least 1 friendly ghost doesn't have an "End Conversation" option, so you have to do a minigame to clear it. But those aren't dealbreakers. Good job!
Thanks so much for playing !
I'm keeping everything to improve the game, thanks for the feedback. :)
I really liked that the ghost have animal-like features, I had some bugs I think, like sometimes withou enter in a pile of leaf, the minigame started anyways and the sprites were black, but overall it a good game!!
Thanks for playing :)
I will investigate this bug, thanks for reporting it.
The characters are cute and unique, i also really like the map, it was fun exploring and finding all the trinkets and then guessing what belongs to who! The artstyle is nice, and the music is pleasant! I did ran into a weird bug - at some point when i ended digging through the leaves the beginning dialogue appeared and i got stuck in the minigame, but i think i managed to find all the trinkets before this happened!
Thanks so much for all the compliments ! We really had a fun time making all of it.
I will investigate this bug, thanks for reporting it. :)
The art for Squibbley is cute and I liked finding and seeing the other ghost pals! The trinket art is quite adorable too! Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to begin the dialogue with the other ghosts despite all kinds of inputs so the game felt surprisingly lonely despite all the other ghosts. I may have to revisit this game again if there are inputs listed anywhere!
Thanks for the nice art feedback :)
I'm sorry you couldn't begin the dialogue with the ghosts, I now added a list of controls and screenshots :)
I see now! The prompt to begin dialogue only seems to run for a single frame so I just have to spam "E" as I run circles around them.
I'll give it another shot!
Your comment cracked me up, thanks ahah, it's not supposed to be this complicated xD
It's a raycast, so start in a line in front of the NPC and walk slowly, the prompt should appear and then you can press E. I hope this will work for you :')
I created a gif, I hope this will help, thanks so much for trying :)
Thanks for the gif! I think I was running around too quickly to talk to them properly. Although I'm starting to realize it may be a problem on my end as the "[E]" prompt displays differently compared to your gif.
Aah, I see, sorry for that, I'll mark that to be fixed. :)
Nice little game, I found it a bit hard on what i was meant to do. Also you should make it so you can full screen the game (I am not sure how to do that with godot games on itch) still nice work
Thanks for the feedback, I put it in fullscreen mode now :)
As for what you're meant to do I'm sorry it wasn't clear, I'll add screenshots to the description to help as a patch.
