Hi VU students! Please use this thread to offer your feedback on the game:

  • What do you like?
  • What's frustrating?
  • Are there any features you want to see in the future?
  • Who's best girl?

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Venus University is currently in Early Access, so your feedback is invaluable to help me make a better game for everyone.

You can also include bug reports here or create a separate post on the main board for them, up to you. When reporting a bug, please include:

  • Where and when it happened
  • Screenshots if relevant
  • What provider/model you are using
  • Log file if you're comfortable sharing. You can grab a log file from the "Report a bug" button on the pause menu in-game or from Feedback on the Main Menu

FAQ:

  • Q: Can I play in languages other than English?
A: You can instruct the LLM to translate to your language by going to Settings > Advanced Settings> Edit system prompt. At the very bottom, add "Translate your reply to <language>." Example: "Translate your reply to 日本語." This will only work in scenes, and certain hardcoded sequences will still be in English. A language feature is on the dev plan.

Known Bugs:

  • You may get a SmartScreen warning about "unrecognized app" when downloading the game or opening it on Windows. Getting the game signed is way too expensive just to fix this, so you'll just have to trust that I haven't put a bitcoin miner in.
  • If you are getting "Connection to Gemini API lost" on free-tier Gemini keys, try downgrading the model to 3.5 or 3.6 in the settings.
  • Deepseek, Z.AI, and other APIs that don't support json_schema (expecting json_object instead) might not work with Venus University. If you want to use those models, I recommend accessing their models through OpenRouter instead.
  • If you previously used "editPregens" to edit default characters, then auto-update to v0.5.0, the "reset to default" button for a default character will not work. To fix this, download the v0.5.0 version manually and restore your saves. You can skip the ComfyUI install by moving the data/services folder from your old install to your new install.

General feedback:

Tight two-slot (AM/PM) schedule combined with lots of overlapping hangout/project/activity requests seems to inevitably result in a number of characters quickly becoming disappointed at you for “ignoring” them or “cancelling plans” that are effectively impossible to keep up with since too many events try overlapping at once. Wonder if characters could be more “aware” of the schedule or at least suggest time slots that aren’t already occupied with classes or shifts or other character hangouts.

Isabelle is best girl in my first run so far

Developer

Hi lampmom, could you describe this in more detail or perhaps email some saves to me to check? This seems like unexpected behavior. If you turn a girl down via the "No" button when she asks to hangout, you can send a followup text explaining yourself to avoid the ghosting penalty. Are you receiving multiple plans on a single timeslot? That also shouldn't be happening

"If you already edited a default character before this save, the game will keep your changes as a copy. "

I am not sure how this was supposed to work. I modified a lot of default characters (adding custom outfits and nfsw cgs) and I still have all the additions retained, but the Default tag still shows below the characters and I do not see any copies. Is this correct?

Developer(+1)

The expected behavior is that the character will still be labeled "default" and retain your edits, yes. You won't see a copy, it's hidden data used to restore. Please note that there is a known issue that when using the auto-updater, the "reset to default" button does not work. Refer to the original post up top.

Service tiers dropdown within the custom providers? I access flash and other models not through google studio.

Using other models such as GLM 5.2, the background and expression changes with the new version seem to be working as intended which is great!

Developer

I thought only Google AI Studio supported service tiers, that was my mistake. Working on adding the service tiers to custom provider too thanks for reporting

Testing more but it seems like scenes was not really ending with GLM 5.2 like gemini flash. Scene would go on and on and I had to switch back to flash to get it to move on.

I have this same effect, Gemma 4 31 seems to handle it the best on the local models I've tried.  The other problem I run into are run away responses where it runs through all 65k tokens before erroring out.  It seems to happen mostly in scene transitions, starting or ending a scene.

Some of the secrets the game generates in the new update are considered Prohibited Content by Google and straight up prevent a New Game from starting

Developer

Hey Adoune, that sounds pretty frustrating. Would you mind sending me your logs to see what tripped it up? For now, I would try using a different model or provider just to get through the new game screen

Sorry, I don't have the logs anymore, but you should know it was pretty easy to get around it by just restarting a couple times so none of the secrets generate prohibited content. This happened using 3.8 Flash, by the way.

Developer

Happy that it ended up working for you! I've also been frustrated by how Gemini will generate content that it itself will deem prohibited later

(+1)

Yeah, and I'm assuming there's no easy fix

(+1)

I'd like to suggest increasing custom outfits from 5 to 12.  I created a shape changer / mimic and she can only copy and transform into 5 other characters.

Developer(+1)

Should be a simple fix, looking into implementing. Stay tuned!

The secrets in the profile should be unlocked only when they are told by the character because right now I almost died mentally after Ingrid blocked me for knowing something she didn't tell me and I couldn't even explain to her from where I got this info. 😭 I thought the logic was that she told me that off-screen, but her reaction tells the opposite. Luckily there are some autosaves, which helps with such situations, but the secrets shouldn't be revealed so easily.

Developer

Hey WorldVlad, this is probably a side effect of how the secret is injected into the character's prompt, will change the wording for the next update.

Secrets on the profile are only revealed once the character tells you. This means a scene where the prompt includes "Establish this fact about the character:". Depending on the model you're using, it may not have properly told it, or you may have interrupted it before it was established. You can search your data/app.log for the word "Establish" to see if it was ever injected

Does anyone have a good local model that works best?

I tried Gemma 4 26B A4B QAT at Q4_K_M, and it works fine, but it has a hard time ending scenes, to a degree that it will sometimes just output "end_scene" as last respond, but not actually ending it.

I also tried Swift 1.5 at IQ3_S through Strata. Better at ending scenes, but it uses like 100% of my PC, and I can't fit ComfyUI with it. Also I feel it ends scenes too soon. And I know that I can extend them by interrupting dialog, but once the games goes to stat rewards I cannot go back, and I cannot save during LLM, as it does when the scene is about to end. So I either go slow and wonder if it's going to end now, to interrupt it earlier enough, or I have to wait for entire LLM generation to go through, so I can save. Also Swift rarely have problem generating proper JSON, giving me error that some comma somewhere is wrong. Though I can just try again.

Also as a feedback. Any plans to implement voice through OpenAI compatible API (v1/audio/speech) for local models? I use omnivoice-server with ST, and it's great and fast.

Developer

Hi Tominator, the action box should switch from "HOVER TO SHOW ACTION BOX" to "SCENE IS ENDING" when an ending is imminent, let me know if this is not working for some reason.

No plans for TTS integration at the moment. Might be a good mod request to ask for on the discord. The discord also might be a good place to ask about local models, since I don't personally test any

Playing a game with a lot of sports people had me thinking: What if we also had a shower room in the gym? Isn't like, the anime trope old as time when someone goes in the wrong gendered shower? That could be a fun event, or just something that naturally follows afterward, especially if the location is defined to have 'private stalls' in a public room.

A few other smaller suggestions/formatting:
1. Also, is it possible we can allow more than 100 saves per run? I know I can take screenshots, but I tend to take multiple saves so I can replay the scenes I really like/or branch.

2.  When making a new save, if you click off of the text box when writing about your character, it just moves ahead with the new game. As someone who likes to play as the same character in some playthroughs, this means I have to have the text ready to paste in (Or write from scratch) else if I so much as click anywhere else it just moves ahead.

3. When no chest size is active in prompting, medium chest seems to be thrown in, which is fine (And helps prevent mistakes) but it seems to do this even if you use the danbooru tag 'huge breasts'. This seems to repopulate though every time you try to regenerate, including CGs.

4. We have a 'reset to default' button when regenerating, but wondering if it may be beneficial to have a 'send to default' button, to send the new prompts in the regeneration to the default (For PE/Swimsuit, etc). I'm sure for Appearance we'll always want to keep them separate (So we don't overwrite different hairstyles by costume)

And as for best girl, recently Tulip has been interesting in one of my latest playthroughs! I actually had a very dramatic/heartwarming event that came about out of nowhere that was fun.

Developer(+1)

All great suggestions! Send to default seems a little finicky. Manually copying them over is probably the least bug-prone method for tags unfortunately

Is there a way to manually copy all prompts in a field? Since they become clickable tags I haven't had much luck unless working with an off-app list.

And thanks as always for everything; sorry for pestering every patch haha.

Developer(+1)

In the next update, you'll be able to click a button next to any tag field to copy the whole field and/or copy whole outfits/CG prompts to other characters. Stay tuned

I had Min-ha invite me to tea after gym class. Accepting it counted as skipping the class. I've had girls in class ask to hang out afterward and it just works, it seems like this should play out the same if it's planned on Bunnyboard.

Developer

Hey svachalek, you can avoid the scheduled date penalty as long as the girl who is in the date is in the next scene. So the way to avoid the penalty is to go to class instead of using the date button. You can also reschedule the date if it overlaps with class by going to messages. In the next update, I'm making a few improvements and outs when dates overlap with other commitments

By the way, if it's possible, it might be very interesting and cool to have an entire clothing system, like every character in the scene in naked, but just programmly and visually has an upper layer of clothes, which hides that they are naked. By doing this, it is possible for gradual undressing during NSFW scenes or character can combine different clothes variants when they hang out with us. Also it might be useful to know what clothes MC is wearing right now, so that the AI remembers it more precisely and we can see how another character gradually undresses us too (It might be ideal system for potential in-game strip games, lol.). I know this system might be too difficult or even impossible to implement, but I'm curious if there are any plans for this type of thing.

Developer(+1)

Hey Vlad, in a dream world I would absolutely love to have this too, but it's definitely a thing that's easier in 3D than 2D. Having so many sprites would balloon save content and take a massive amount of time to generate, unfortunately.

(+1)

And also what is more possible to implement is probably an opportunity to change some university settings at the beginning. For example, maybe we can transform this university into some sort of Hero Academy, where all students have superpower and attend power-related courses and lessons. Or maybe transform this academy into something NSFW and all of the classes will also be related to that. Something like that I think is easy to implement on the start creation screen.

By the way, it might be cool to have an opportunity to start a new day in a girl's room, if you had a sleepover, instead of teleporting us to our room. In that case we will have an opportunity to talk to the girl directly instead of texting her and then decide what we want to do right now.

(+1)

Hey, for that last item, I've done this pretty successfully by saying "I wake up with (character) in their room" or something along those lines when starting the new day. just know it uses up the morning/day slot but the LLM integrates it well.

Developer

The ability to edit the setting is on the dev plan! Stay tuned

(+1)

Would it be possible to have a regenerate courses button? Or maybe the option to set a topic our character is interested in and have 1–2 classes be generated for them? I often like to roleplay a specific character, and it gets a bit tedious if I have to restart the game until a few fitting options show up.

Developer

Hi Seviy, my plan is to make the game completely customizable in the future but it's a complex addition and will take a while. I'd say the best way to go about this is to include a character who is also interested in the topic during a new game.

Hey there! I've been having a great time with the project and the updates, definitely my go-to way for RP since it's so easy to just drop in and out.

I'm sure this has probably already been asked, but in terms for the LOOONG run of development, would the option of playing as a female 'protagonist' be something implemented? Of course, it would require a lot of additional regeneration for the NSFW CGs and changes to the prompt, so that's why I mean if it's something that's been considered or not.

Thanks for all the good work!

Developer(+1)

Hey Deejay, glad you're having fun with the project. Female POV has been tested by some players to work. Credit to user dontcare015 on itch for the following tips:

"I was also able to pull off FemPOV surprisingly well just by adding the line "The reader is actually female, all text that states or implies otherwise is a mistake." to my character bio. There's a few hardcoded spots, like the menu saying a character likes "guys" with a particular stat, but in the game itself I've not had any issues."

In terms of CGs, you can generate custom CGs with instructions for use in yuri scenes.

Would it be possible to allow us to pick the Fall semester as our first semester when starting a new run? It would be nice to be able to pick that from the start instead of having to go through a full semester first- sometimes I'm just feeling the fall vibes more.

Developer

Great suggestion! It's not as simple as it sounds so it may take a while, but I added it to the dev plan. Stay tuned!

Hey Venus Dev!

First of all, I have been having so much fun with this, so thank you so much!!

I had a feature suggestion in mind, but I'm not sure if it's something you would be interested in implementing, or if anyone else would find it useful, but I thought I would share it anywayss

Would it be possible to add a way to organize characters into custom categories or sections, both in the Characters screen and the Character Selection screen?

For example, I have been having a lot of fun creating new characters and imagining different scenarios where they could interact with each other. But with so many, I sometimes end up forgetting what I originally had in mind for certain characters lol

I thought it would be really useful if we could create our own categories, give them names, and maybe even add a short description to each one. Something like "Nerdy", "Villainess", "Heroines", etc. Then we could assign characters to those categories to keep everything organized!

It would make it much easier to find specific characters, remember their personalities or roles, and group together characters that fit certain themes or scenarios.

I made a little mockup with AI to better illustrate what I mean:

I completely understand if this isn't something you would want to add or if it would be too much work! I just thought it could be a useful addition for people that like to keep things organized like me or for people that also like to create a lot of characterss

Either way, thank you again for making this! I have genuinely been enjoying it a lot! :)

Developer(+1)

Hey Dumsiu, glad you're enjoying the game! I believe other people have asked for this and I think this is a great idea for a mod request. You can check over on the Discord and see if someone might be willing to work on this
