How does the game fit the theme?
Slap the Soldier is built entirely around not being able to trust anyone.
Every soldier in the lineup accuses someone, but no two lie or tell the truth for the same reason — a Truthful soldier always points at the real culprit, a Liar never does, and several other hidden roles twist that logic further. No single accusation can be taken at face value; the only way forward is cross-referencing every statement against the others to find the one pattern that makes them all consistent. "Trust No One" isn't just the mood, it's the entire mechanic.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Music, and a few parts of the code handling combinatorial and geometric calculations, were not written from scratch during the jam.

This game has a really unique art style! Really cool!
Super fun concept and puzzle. Got me thinking very logically about all the different roles and how they interacted I loved that. You might have some bugs to work through because I once got a vengeful pointing at themselves while a paladin was also pointing at them. Love the game though.
Hi, thanks so much for playing! Regarding that little bug — thanks for the feedback, but actually the Paladin can vote for the Vengeful (the Paladin just can't vote for the Rat or another Paladin, and votes for a soldier who voted for an innocent one). Hope that clears things up! In the future, if you run into any bugs, feel free to post a screenshot of the board setup so we can help you troubleshoot.
Charming visual style! A bit more of a tutorial wouldn't hurt.
Very interesting concept, I love these kind of copycat (among us -ish) games where you need to find bad guys. And I wish the game session would be a bit longer and more interactive, like adding more rounds or some abilities player can use^^
Such a neat style, and it's a very cool puzzle. The difficulty level at the beginning is good, but I think it would have been much less intimidating if, when you accused someone incorrectly, you didn't return to the beginning, but rather to the level you were on (otherwise, it was a bit demotivating for me). But i still enjoyed it pretty much!
Such an interesting idea. It did take some time to understand the mechanics (though some character types are still a bit confusing) but the idea behind it is very neat. Sometimes I did really think I got it right but for some reason i got it wrong (situations where A->B, C->B, B->A. In this case I'd think the B is but well it sometimes wasn't). The artstyle is very interesting and I do like it a lot. Haven't seen a game yet with such artstyle in the jam, nice job on it! The game mathches the jam theme well. Good job on the game!
Hi, thanks for playing and for the feedback!
We’re currently looking for any possible issues in the generated puzzles so we can improve the generator. However, to verify whether a puzzle is actually incorrect, we also need to know which soldier each one was pointing at and which roles were present in that specific puzzle.
Interesting, tho my brain is not braining enough for this type of games xD
really cool and unique! love the visuals and its quite hard.
Thankyou so much for trying it :)
It really has a unique and excellent visual style; it's truly challenging, I definitely found it quite tough.
Thank you so much, really glad you liked the visual style! Yes, it's meant to be a real challenge. we are still working on balancing the difficulty across levels, so hearing it was tough for you is great feedback :)
Liked the newspaper art style
The only impreovements could be the volume slider and buttons in options (appearance), i don't think they really fit.
And maybe a zoom to the roles descriptions, the text was kinda small.
Good job nonetheless
The concept is cool and the art awesome, couldn't really try as the Accuse button didn't want to work on the web version. Good job!
Good morning, thank you first of all for trying the game! I understand the confusion — to select a soldier you can click either on the red tag showing the identifying letter, or on the head :)
Ok, actually manage to select a soldier and accuse it, my bad! I can confirm the game is really nice! :)
It's a fun game, and it would be even better if there were a tutorial. I really liked it—especially the artwork; they're fantastic and diffucult😅.
Thank you so much for your kind words <33 I'm really glad you're enjoying the game and that the artwork stood out to you it means a lot, since a lot of care went into it. I also really appreciate you flagging the difficulty and the lack of a tutorial we're actually working on adding one right now (one day), so newer players will have an easier time getting into it. Thanks again for playing and for the feedback =)
is this inspired from a DFA-tree hahaha? pretty fun game tickles your brain!
Hey, first of all, thanks for playing! No, the idea actually didn’t come from there, but rather from combining role-based mechanics like Lupus in Tabula with deduction/elimination rules similar to Sudoku :)
love the vibe so much! maybe a slower difficulty curve will help :D
Hi, thanks for trying the game! We know the tutorial is much requested, we hope to add it with future updates :)
Art style is fantastic. Puzzles are really cool. Probably could have used some sort of tutorial Or at least a few extremely simple levels to introduce all the moving pieces. Cool puzzles though!
Good morning, first of all thank you for playing! Second, we're aware of the tutorial issue — unfortunately we didn't fully polish that part due to the limited time we had available. We'll definitely fix it in the future :)
The artstyle and concept are fantastic here. However, it felt a bit intimidating to read all the roles at once. I'd like to see a few tutorial levels that give the player a softer landing to understand how it works.

Plus, I'm not sure what I'm missing but I can't press the accuse button (image). I assigned the roles that I believed were correct but couldn't go forward. What am I missing?
Good morning, and thank you so much for playing!
You're absolutely right about the tutorial — adding a few levels that gradually introduce the roles would definitely help ease players in. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time during the challenge to include one, but it's something we'd love to add going forward.
As for the accuse button: that comes down to a small communication gap on our end, sorry about that! The soldiers themselves are clickable — you can select one by clicking their head or their letter. Once a soldier is selected, you can accuse them as the culprit. The role tokens are only there to help you make and test your own hypotheses; they don't need to be assigned correctly (or at all) to proceed.
Thanks again for the feedback really appreciate it! :)
First of all I LOVE the design. The paper designs are great.
The game mechanics are pretty complexe. Takes a lot of thinking and I have to say I wasn't very good at it :D
Some Feedback for improvement:
- Clicking the characters did not work sometimes. I had to try to click on different spots to get it to work
- The loading from one leve to the other was a bit laggy.
- Web-Export would be nice, as the others already mentioned
Really nice work from you! :)
Thank you so much for playing! We really appreciate your feedback, and we’ll definitely take it into account as we work on improving the game.
I realy love its style it made it so funny
I'm a little suspicious of downloading files to play a game, perhaps it would be better to export to HTML5 and allow players to play through itch
Unfortunately, due to the computational requirements of our current puzzle generator and the way its optimization was implemented, the game isn’t playable in the browser at the moment. We’re already working on a solution, though!
Thanks a lot for the feedback!
If you want we just updated the version available!
Thanks for updating! I gave it a try, the game is a little bit too complex for my small brain. I think its an interesting concept and would be a ton of fun if the rules were introduced more gradually. Perhaps even naming the soldiers by a color instead of a letter because i spent so long hitting keyboard keys thinking it was the button to press. Some tutorialization and i think this would be a great game! Good job on the art and design.
having to download stuff is always very discouraging... Try exporting into html5- The thumbnail is basically the same style as mine :)
