How does the game fit the theme?
In your efforts to escape a more than train-sized monster chasing the train you're on, you'll find that it telepathically influences passengers to sabotage your fuel.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made everything myself from scratch so far, but it's unclear how much music I might need to borrow before the jam ends. We'll see.

How many people worked on the game?

I love the particle effects and the overall artstyle, at first i dint know what to do so i kept throwing myself into the furnace lamao, the throwing mechanic is good but i wished there was an indication tht i could interact with the objects.

Developer

Always planned on adding that, just never had time. Thank you for the feedback, it's always welcome!

Really like the art style on this game! I threw the people into the furnace, though they didnt seem to be picking up the items automatically like it showed in photos. with some bugfixing this would be an even more fun game. Well done!

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks! It's a 50% chance each round that they'll pick items up between stops. You'll get there eventually. Also yeah, I only had the time to fix game breaking bugs.

Nice visuals, and a cute little game.  I found it satisfying throwing things into the furnace, but wish there was a bit more to the game overall (Understandable for a game jam).   It is fun when the train gets going!

Developer

I 100% plan on adding more after the jam! I just ran out of time. I would've added hallucinogenic cargo, couch-co-op, parallax backgrounds, a score/high score, and character customization if I had time(aswell as a proper soundtrack).

And when the game jam is over I plan on adding multiple levels, a win state, and different tiers of purchasable cargo.

fun little game.
i got some things stuck inbetween the carts but other than that solid. also i think the blast radius of the tnt is a bit high you cant rly throw it from the second cart and you die when your in the first

Developer (7 edits) (+1)

That is sort of intentional(the blast radius). There wouldn't be enough of a reason to avoid using the TNT if you survived it unscathed, and I planned on kind of having this be a sacrificial fuel option when I add co-op eventually after this jam.

I also plan on adding hallucinogenic smoke options by then, where there'll be certain hazardous fuel that doesn't exactly kill you.

But in your honest opinion, do you think it's too punishing? As in, would it be better to have a little leeway to throw it into the furnace without dying? And I also wonder if it's in accordance with the rules to chance it if it really is top punishing or frustrating

Submitted

if you play alone i think you should be able to throw it in. cause i had one round where i only had the 3 guys and 2 good bags and 4 tnt bags (if i wasnt blind). which i think makes the level unbeatable? so by that definition i think you could change it

Did you buy cargo at the shop UI during station stops? I highlighted that as necessary in the description.

Sorry for not having time to make a tutorial or anything to make it more obvious.

I really liked the visuals and gameplay, impressive for a game made by just one person, congrats!

Developer

Thank you! It took a lot out of me, but I made most of what I wanted in the end!

very original game and nice art style!

Developer

You think so? I've started to feel really inferior with all the great entries this jam lol

Thank you for that one

pretty fun, and a cool idea!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! I really did my utmost to finish on time. Would've liked to add more but ran out of time to add couch co-op and an outline shader for items aswell as a color customizer for the player characters and a hat selection.

not bad, kind of frustating, but i did enjoy playing it good job!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And yeah I get how it'd be frustrating! When I made it, I realized that a bit too late into development to polish that aspect.
