Loved the pixel art and music. gameplay was fun and engaging and when the beat drops after you bank the first time is chef's kiss. excellent work and sound design. kudos.
Aside from the word "yoinked" in the description, it was the palette that initially drew me to this, real sucker for the true-to-form Gameboy feel and this just fit the bill! What I wasn't expecting was some of the most addicting loops of the jam.
Stylistically, just so rad. The transitions are absolutely on point and the pixel art for everything but especially the cards is so on-brand (I love the Orb card). Despite having very simple inputs there's a level of depth that just brought me back every single time. All paired with extremely pleasing and well-considered sound choices. Dopamine machine right here.
Easy add to the Jam favourites. Great great entry.
We love big red notification icons giving us dopamine <3 <3
tysm i needed that fix
Real artistic vision, one of those games where I was surprised to see it was done by a
simple person only one person, SOLO. Usually those games have music/audio or gameplay not that developped. Here all sides are really good.Music goes really well with the theme. Congratz on the mix/production side, I suck at it and I find yours really well done.
Same for SFX, you nailed them !! Lots of juice in the game.
Love the backgrounds, they bring so much flair. Your game and another one (TEN TEN) really showed me how much you can give a strong vibe with az relatively simple but "stylized" background.
There could be some little feedbacks to give if you want a full game from this, but honestly the result is already so good for a game jam, especially for a solodev, I want to say congratz more than anything !!
the typo of the game being done by a 'simple person' really made me laugh haha, but thank you sm ^^ I wish I had time to play through every game that commented on my page, really wasn't expecting to get any traction at all, very pleased!
LOL I'M SORRY. It's a mistake french people often make ahaha
great music and artwork, but unfortunately im not that much of a fan of card game roguelikes.
amazing work nonetheless!
Really good stategy based game, it made me think, artstyle is amazing :)
Really unique game that kinda resembles the classic balatro-esque roguelike! I like the juice of the game with the transition being so stylized and with a clear unique art direction! The audio is also really well integrated and is lowkey relaxing? The narrative is there though I would have loved for the narrative to be more intergated into the game. The tutorial is on the page but I wish it was integrated at the start of the game since it took me a while to kinda understand it. Overall, I had a lot of fun with this one and you did an awesome job!
Very cool and wacky aesthetics, I really dig this vibe.
The gameplay is engaging enough, so you want to "play just one more round", although the randomness could be harsh sometimes :)
What a game! And craaazy impressive that you made all assets during this jam!
Some of the white on beige texts were a bit hard to read for me, but that might just be my monitor settings.
Great entry!
How much of a gambler are you? One more card or all-in (I've given different examples from different games).
So here too. What are the odds of getting a 3 and 3? Or is it better to get a 4/2 or a straight 6? Or getting a 1, which will ruin your hand. The excitement is amazing. The music is beautifully presented visually.
When playing, the "continue" button doesn't stand out much from the rest of the text.
There's a lot of good stuff here to celebrate here, it's very polished visually and the sound design is nice. Though, as others have pointed out, the core gameplay is rather lacking. Some rounds were just impossible to win, which was most frustrating when I was just getting a build going and suddenly two 1's back to back.
I think with some more love and room to breathe, this could be something really cool!
Really nice game - enjoyed the art style and polish! Well done :)
This was nice and cozy! I like the unique take on the theme mixed with a push your luck thing. At first, I didn't roll 1 for a while and so I thought, maan, this is easy! And then I kept rolling a 1 and realising how the game worked lol! So I restarted the run and actually read how to play (I'm tired to be fair). I love the art, the music + sound, and I hope you develop it more after the jam. I'd love to see where it could go.
As it stands, though, it's a great game and that die roll is very satisfying! I could just keep rolling, even without the rest of the game :P
Wow I love the Juiciness of this game by that I mean like the Effects, game fell, etc, they all make the game feeel soooo satisfying lol! I loved it lots! Congrats!
I really enjoy the overall feeling of this game, It adds to the vibes a ton and makes for an enjoyable experience. I just wish those damned 1's would leave me alone lol! Also, I feel like i never found myself using instant cards, as I would just try to save them for a better passive. Still, nice work!
I love the vibes and the general style, art work, music. I'm also a big balatro fan so this is a super cool variation on that formula. Only downside was it took me a little while to work out how banking score worked, and some of the font was a bit hard for me to read. Overall very nice
interesting idea, would be nice if you could buy more than 1 item in the shop or choose between the 3 after seeing them. The gameplay doesn't feel all that engaging after a while. I'm not sure why but whenever I lost, the last thing I saw was a 6 which made me think I rolled a 6 (I'm guessing I rolled a 1). might be worth having the 1 on screen for half a second before the player is declared to have lost.
The pixel art style looks really good and it's a fun roguelike game with short runs. But like others in the comments have said, some of the buttons can be made more obvious to be a button, with higher contrast and detailed designs.
Other than that, the gameplay is very smooth even though I feel like there can be more strategy involved in the player's side. For now there's not many ways for me to plan around rolling 1s and losing the run. And I am not a big fan of the shop menu. Having to pick one out of three cards to reveal without knowing anything about said card is basically the same as only having one choice in the shop, thus further reducing player agency and strategy.
Nonetheless very well polished and enjoyable experience! Having a 6-sided d7 cracks me up a bit. The thing that can only happens in a 2D environment like this.
Dear lord the RNG go hates me.... took about five goes to beat level one XD
Otherwise really cool game and would be interested in a more developed version!
This was really really cool. I'm a big fan of these sorta games and the stylisation of the art is next level!! I also want to compliment the audio & the creativity of your idea.
I'd like to point out one minor issue I had which was that on the end of round screen, I couldn't find the 'continue' button for ages lol. It just blends into the background a little bit.
thanks for playing!
THAT BUTTON has been the bane of my life since I clicked submit on the jam haha - UI really was the dumped task over the 4 days, but I'm planning to do a month-long post-jam revamp and that is the very first thing on the list!
